Summary: Oliver Stone and Dennis Quaid at their best!! Great Movie!!
Review: Very realistic portrayal of the trials and tribulations associated with life in a modern day country enduring a civil war. Excellent character development and thought provoking plot that is well developed. Great stuff, a must see for people who like serious drama.

Summary: The best ever film on the Balkans tragedy
Review: I am a complete Balkanophile and worked for 6 months in Macedonia and loved this film. A plot line where the hero (or perhaps anti-hero at the start) spends the entire film in Serbian Army uniform is novel and the music and scenery were fantastic. I could say so much about this movie but the ultimate reaction evoked by it in me is one of sadness, that 2 years after it was made, we have just seen a repeat of exactly the same scenes in Kosovo. An unmissable film - anyone interested in this part of the world should see also "Before the Rain" by Milcho Manchevski - about Albanian/Macedonian tensions.

Summary: The most moving and touching story I have ever seen.
Review: First of all, I am very interested in buying the soundtrack from this movie, can anyone help me, please?

I really loved the movie, however I did find that "the serbs" were made out to be the bad guys in some parts of the movie. The Serbs were and are the victims, I just wish people would educate themselves about this subject.

Summary: I loved it!
Review: I found the movie very moving. The movie was made in Yugoslavia, but I found its presentation of the war in Bosnia to be balanced. This is an anti-war film.

Summary: Savior is a stunning film about cruelty, hate, and redemption.
Review: Savior is quite simply one of the most powerful films I have ever seen. The opening scenes are rather generic, but once the action shifts to Bosnia, one is literally tranfixed by the unfolding story. Dennis Quaid is superb as the American mercenary fighting for the Serbs to avenge his past. A mechanical killer, he is close to becoming the living dead until fate intervenes and drives him and the story to quite a different ending. The Balkan cast is also outstanding especially the woman who plays the pregnant, molested and terrified serb woman whom he saves. The direction and cinematography are also terrific, blending the beauty of mountains and lakes with the perverse cruelty of the Bosnian civil war. In the end though, it is a story of one man's journey back from the abyss, and who among us can't identify with that. Once seen, this movie is not easily forgotten.

Summary: Loved the Movie...
Review: I just loved the movie. It made me realize something, though! How come 'Muslims" are always refered to as "Muslims" while Christians are only refered to as "Serbs"? Muslims are the only religious group that are always refered to by their religion and not their nationality!Unlike Jews and Christians...I'll keep wondering why!?...

Summary: Excellent film - illustrates the complexities of the Balkans
Review: If you want a glimpse of the complexity of the Balkans - start here. However, this film cannot be viewed without a basic understanding of the forces involved in the Bosnian conflict. Goran's attitude is similar to many of the young serbs I met while in Bosnia during the 1995-1997 time frame. The actions of all the Bosnian former warring factions is well illustrated here. Note - the bosnian muslim forces (ABiH) and bosnian serbs forces (VRS) are easy to identify, but keep an eye out for the bosnian croat forces (HVO). This is one of the details i appreciated in the film, however it may go unnoticed to the casual viewer.

Summary: ONE OF THE THREE
Review: I'VE SEEN THREE GREAT MOVIES THIS WEEKEND. LIVING OUT LOUD, AMERICAN HISTORY X, AND OF COURSE THIS MOVIE, SAVIOR. QUAID HAS ALWAYS BEEN A SUPERB ACTOR. HIS TASTE IN SCRIPTS IS IMPECCABLE; THIS ONE WAS PROBABLY HIS BEST YET. HE'S MATURED SO MUCH OVER THE YEARS AND IT REALLY SHOWS IN THIS WAR INSPIRED TRAGEDY. IT IS ULTIMATELY ABOUT A MAN WHO HAS LOST HIMSELF, AND THROUGH HELPING ANOTHER, FINDS HIMSELF AGAIN. THERE ARE ENOUGH SCENES OF VIOLENCE WHICH REALLY SEND HOME THE TRUE HORROR AND CRUELTY OF WAR.

Summary: Justification for Ethnic Cleansing?
Review: I found the movie to be well made and the acting, especiallly by Dennis Quaid to be noteworthy. I was disturbed by the story though. Dennis Quaid plays a character who eventually becomes a mercenary fighting FOR the Serbs. His character helps a woman who is pregnant after being raped by a Bosnian Muslim. Cinema can help many people understand some of what is going on. Many times it does a wonderful job i.e. Salvador, The Killing Fields and Message from Sarajevo. Imagine a world where the sins of the oppressors were transposed onto the oppressed. Where atrocities committed by one ethnic group against another were claimed by those in the wrong as crimes that were committed against them instead of by them. Now stop imagining, and see the movie. Granted, the movie was finished long before the NATO attack on Serbia, but the agents for the principal stars should be ashamed for themselves. World events twisted on the big screen, I shouldn't be suprised.
