Rating: Summary: This is one of the best movies I have ever seen! Review: This movie has it all, suspence, action, drama and romance. And it is clean and wholesome.
Rating: Summary: Sink me.........This was a story of a lifetime Review: I was watching the beginning of the movie in history class about the French revolution. I thought I am going to rent this and finish it. The next thing I know I am watching it over and over, at first you think it looks boring but it is a great movie if you let yourself watch it, it's also funny. I also found myself quoting from the movie lines. You will understand my one-line summary above once you watch the movie, Buy it and watch it, you will watch it over and over!
Rating: Summary: Sink me, I couldn't agree more Review: At first you might think, what the hell is a "Scarlet Pimpernel"? (is it like a Pumpernickel or Peppermint? Nah it just a simple wayside flower) But if you just give Jane Seymour, Ian McKellan and Anthony Andrews a try, I promise you this, you'll be watching this movie over and over again. Before long, you might even be quoting lines from it! So if you're looking for a movie with old-fashioned heros, frustrated romance, and lots of laughs, you've found it.
Rating: Summary: It's disturbing how much I like this movie. Review: So what if some of the holes in the plot are so big you can drive through them with a bus? So what if the script is cheesy? This is an eminently watchable movie, and I've watched it, sad to say, about five times... in the last two days. Anthony Andrews is even better here than in Bridehead Revisited. Jane Seymour does a fine job also, and Ian McKellen oozes malice as Chauvelin.
Rating: Summary: Sink me! Review: This is a movie that you want to remember lines from. I thought I could have been the only crazy one, but now I've read other reviews and I take it for a fact. Mediocre as the script and some of the actors are, Anthony Andrews makes it hilarious. He has the gift of turning the most unremarkable lines into a masterpiece of wit and wisdom. ("Then your tailors will rule the land. And no one will make the clothes. So much for French fashion. And French politics." ... "I shall be back... to haunt you!") Such a talented actor! I must buy this video.
Rating: Summary: My absolute favorite movie Review: If the timeless story doesn't pull you in, the music will! The cast is impeccable and has made me a fan of Anthony Andrews for many years now! I have seen it more times than any other movie, and I never seem to tire of it!
Rating: Summary: This is one absolutely outstanding movie! Review: I've watched this movie many times (beginning in 1982 when it was made) and love every moment of it. I've watched it twice just since Christmas Eve. There's bit of everything -- romance, suspense, intrigue, and adventure! A movie sure to please!! Anthony Andrews and Jane Seymour are terrific in the lead roles. Don't miss it!
Rating: Summary: Unforgettable Review: I first saw this movie when I was a teenager and to this day remembered it fondly. Now that I received it as a Christmas present, I cannot get enough of it! The music is as spellbinding as any soundtrack I have ever heard, and the romance depicted in the movie is 'unforgettable'! I too include this in my top 5 favorite movies!
Rating: Summary: My all time favorite movie. Review: Sad as it sounds, I have have watched this movie so many times I know it word for word. From the first time I saw it on ITV back in 1982 (when it first aired in the UK) it has remained the only film I can watch time and again. Try it, you'll see.
Rating: Summary: Right triumphs; great adventure; sizzling romance. Review: The romance sizzles but you could let your ten year old kids watch it. Anthony Andrews makes the Scarlet Pimpernel believable through his outstanding changes of appearance and costume. The costumes are absolutely lovely, particularly the men's clothing! It's great adventure. I've watched this movie a dozen times. The only caveat; the actor playing Chauvelin is terrible. I've often wished for a substitution from an earlier version.
