Summary: What is this movie?
Review: I loved this movie most not because of the great characters or the sweat action. Not the great plot or wonderful animation but because every line was said so perfectly it makes you feel all wobbly.
The script is amazing. The whole thing about "seeing with eyes unclouded by hate". Who comes up with something so perfect, so ingenius oh it's amazing.
Another great thing about this movie is the director can make you feel however he wants you to feel. You can hear your heart pound at all the dramatic seens, you laugh your eyes out at all the funny scenes. You say "sw e e e e ttttt" in a hoarse gasp at all the action seens.
A strange thing about this maovie is they got alot of famous people to do the dubbing. Boy am I glad they did too. they did such a perfect job (like a said earlier)
In princess mononoke There is no direct good or evil. You have to decide for your self.
All that and its 2 and a half hours long. A must see and a must buy.

Summary: A well rounded movie
Review: I love this movie so much that I am gong to ask my mom if I can have it. It has a moving plot, a smashing ending, and something most movies don't have, a moral. Princess Mononoke teaches people about saving the earth. That is a job well done.

Summary: I was in love with the first preview of this movie....
Review: And my adoration has only increased with repeated viewings of the movie.

Normally I don't like anime very much. It's not that the animation itself isn't usually fabulous, because it is. Genrally, however, I really do not like the storylines.

This movie however, is absolutely magnificent. The story is so deep, so moving, and so profound that this is actually one of my top ten favorite movies. The spiritual ideas expressed in this story could change a persons life if they let it.

Watch this movie, "with eyes unclouded by hate" and you will see what I mean. It is a MUST for all spiritually minded people!

Summary: So Good!!
Review: This is my all-time favorite anime ever (Even above such as Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Ninja Scroll etc... Its got a GREAT storyline, awesome characters, and just an overall good feel to it. You'll watch it and be taking in the crisp animation, the well-fitting music, the ecologically-complex story and a hundred other things and just think to yourself how much of a master at story telling Hayao Miyazaki really is. If you liked this, definately go pick up the 4 part Graphic Novel series "Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind" by Hayao Miyazaki. Another classic, although book-wise.

Summary: Great movie, disappointing DVD
Review: I would have given a 5 stars to this DVD, if only the American producers had had the intelligence to take the full advantages that the DVD interface offer for the bonus, features or whatever you might call these additions you can make to a movie.

Who cares about how great it was for Gillian Anderson to work on a Myazaki movie? And what are we to do with these self-lauding sort of post-movie trailers that are designated as featurettes? It doesn't say anything about the making of the movie, the conditions of the translation or of the dubbing (or hardly)! On the contrary, it simply fills empty space with emptiness! A complete waste of time, money and energy!

I have bought DVD's of Japanese animations that had really good bonuses: well-constructed interviews with the creators, producers, technical teams,..., bibliographies with explanations, essays and critics on the various cultural, social and historical aspects that are very often treated in these animations,....These are a real refreshing material for the mind, because you learn how these works were produced, what cultural and social trends they reflect, what mythological or historical episodes they are based on,etc. In brief, with such explanatory additions, you get precious informations that allow you to make some sense of stories that are often difficult to fully understand because of their strong roots in Japanese culture.

On the other hand, it seemed to me that the subtitle translation was quite good, better than what you often get for Japanese animations.

Really too bad some DVD producers seem to think that people get satisfy with a couple of trailers as bonuses!

Summary: Simply fantastic
Review: Princess Mononoke is a brilliant piece of animation. I really liked it a lot. It's the second movie done by Miyazaki that I have seen. The first was Sen To Chihhro which immediately became my favourite movie of all time. This movie is more epic in scope and the animation by Studio Ghibli is simply excellent. However, it had some scenes which were rather disturbing. Not recommended for very young children. For others, a must see movie.

Summary: Miyazaki really tops himself...
Review: I've seen all of Miyazaki's movies with the exception of Porco Rosso & his latest, Sen to Chihiro.
I have to say that he is one of the most creative & inspired person I know of. I have never been disappointed with any of his movies. Remember Tenkuu no Shiro Rapyuta (Laputa - Castle in the Sky)? Do you remember how his blend of flying ships, amazing artistic style & colorful characters made you feel? Do you remember how the ending in Kaze no Tani no NausicaƤ made you feel? He can't do anything wrong. It's impossible. He's Miyazaki. His movies make you feel either really adventurous or sometimes disappointed in the entire race.
I know not of many other artists who can make you feel such different emotions, and yet he does it time & time again. Unfortunately, he has retired now and we won't be able to see anything new from him. That's okay, though. Do you know why? Because his lifetime achievements are just that. Enough for a lifetime. I would be overwhelmed with all that greatness if he continued to make films.
I'm sort of relieved, I feel I don't deserve any more of his masterpieces. Wow, I've never even typed one sentence about this movie! What can I say? The animation is superb, fluid & colorful. The story itself is enough to make you really think. It's so smart, so intelligent. It's just a really good story. I can't even put how I feel about the story to words.
How can studio Ghibli's animation skills keep getting better? It's truly remarkable! The film itself is very spiritual. When I first saw it, I left questioning a lot of things about myself. Maybe if you see it, you'll understand where I'm coming from. Needless to say, I cherish & adore this movie. I hope you will, too.
