Summary: Great set...where is season 2?
Review: All Twin Peaks fans need to buy this set...Season 2 isn't available yet but maybe it will be if more copies of Season 1 are sold. This first set was really well done and actually has extras unlike a lot of other David Lynch discs. If you loved the series, you'll love this.

As others have stated, the pilot episode is available and the quality is very passable.

Summary: A slice of pie, coffee and murder
Review: "Twin Peaks" didn't roar out of the gate when it first appeared. Lynch and Mark Frost quietly set up this twisted soap opera (which had an impact and influence on the style, look and texture of everything from "The X-Files" to "CSI"). My only complaint is that when I received this as a gift, my wife didn't know that the pilot episode wasn't included and that's where the murder occurs.

Here's what you do get--seven episodes in a nearly pristine high definition transfers of the original full screen series on four discs with extras on disc four. There's material from the fan website, a booklet (which should have had more material on the series), interviews, introductions by the Log Lady and audio commentary. I haven't accessed the latter two features yet and have only watched bits and pieces of each episode until I receive the 90 minute pilot episode.

The packaging is exceptional although it's in an accordian fold out case. Curiously (or not as Lynch isn't the most interested in doing audio commentaries from what I can tell), it looks as if Lynch doesn't do an audio commentary for the series. The set only gets four stars as it doesn't include the pilot and honestly this could have been put onto a two or three disc dual layered set without any loss of quality at a less expensive price. Still, all told it's always interesting to visit Twin Peaks. Aside from some damn fine coffee you're never quite sure what you'll get in Lynch and Frost's twisted tale of murder, money and dry humor. Get it before it goes away.

Summary: Brilliantly Bizarre
Review: Black humour and spooky moments abound in this brilliant David Lynch T.V. production. It is a production you would need to watch from the very start to follow the complicated twists and turns in the plot.... But it is well worth the effort. Twin Peaks is about the investigation into the murder of local girl Laura Palmer. As the story unfolds it becomes apparent that no one is as they appear in this town (and that includes eccentric FBI investigator, Agent Dale Cooper).
To say the characters are quirky is putting it mildly, it may be more accurate to say they are verging on the insane which certainly makes it impossible to figure out who the murderer is...most of the population of Twin Peaks have secrets they don't want exposed.
This series became cult viewing in the 90's and it is easy to see why. David Lynch has produced a masterpiece that dares to be different and makes no apology for it. Brilliant, bizarre, funny, moving, it will make you laugh and cry. Highly recommended.

Summary: Give us a better product!
Review: I absolutely agree with all the reviewers who have put it so well...WHAT IS THE POINT OF THE SERIES SET WITHOUT THE 2 HOUR PILOT MOVIE?!?!? Paramount is already on my "no buy" list due to their shananagins with the release of the first season of "I Love Lucy"! a few years back Really...What does it take (stateside) to get the picture? Enough said.

Summary: Release it all... or go to hell!
Review: This series was made for DVD-- but for God's sake stop releasing it in dribs and drabs.

The entire Twin Peaks series has been available on the Gnutella network for years, and if they want us to pay for it, they need to finally make the whole show available, preferably in one boxed set with a lot of extras, for around 60-80 dollars.

Do these guys REALLY expect me to spend good money to watch Twin Peaks up to the point where Agent Cooper is mysteriously shot by an unknown hand, with Laura's killer yet to be discovered... with no more episodes available? Get a clue.

Summary: PARAMOUNT BOUGHT THE RIGHTS, PILOT COMING
Review: Save your money. Paramount Pictures bought the rights of the entire Twin Peaks series. They will be re-issuing the first season with the pilot included, remasterd with a new transfer and DTS 5.1 sound to reflect the quality of the subsequent episodes on the original release. They will also be releasing the second season shortly after, in its entirety. No word on a new edition of Fire Walk With Me as of Dec 19, 2004

Summary: I want to pull my hair out!
Review: 2005 is 15 days away, and still no pilot. This incomplete set was released almost 4 years ago, and still the pilot has not been released for U.S. viewers on DVD. Such a shame.
I cant understand how all of you are giving this set 4 and 5 stars, WTF are you thinking? Review the DVD, not the show. The show was awesome, groundbreaking, but this DVD set sux. And why doesnt the Amazon reviewer make any mention of the missing 2 hour pilot? So sad. Sorry to say, but this DVD release is not worth 30 bucks, maybe if it included the COMPLETE UNCUT FIRST SEASON...
Such a shame that a wonderful show has been treated so poorly by the powers that be. Obviously they only care about the bottom line, otherwise Artisan, Paramount and Viacom would have done this right the first time and included the pilot that started the freakin show. DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The fact that VHS copies of the pilot cost like 80 bucks, and the imported crappy DVD of the pilot is almost as much should be a wake up call to execs. WE WANT THE PILOT ON DVD RELEASED ALREADY, otherwise what's the point of this set? I mean seriously, you tell me. It's not the first season if it doesn't include THE FREAKIN EPISODE THAT STARTED IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Pilot included on european (region 2) release
Review: I've seen a lot of complaints here that the original pilot was never released.... The pilot was included on the european release so those of you with multiregion players should pay the extra and get that one from amazon.co.uk...

A sympathetic european :)
