Rating: Summary: This stands nxt to "...V Wolfe"; where's 10min of orig cut?? Review: Tom & Viv could/should stand next to Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe in almost anyone's mind. i'd no understanding of ts eliot=no affection; now i do. But i'm a scholar as well as a movie junkie, & i think i [& others like me] could/would see/understand/love more if all 125min of original cut were available--anywhere, please.
Rating: Summary: LEFT ME WITH MANY QUESTIONS Review: TOM & VIV WAS AN ENTERTAINING MOVIE ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN POET T.S. ELIOT AND HIS CRAZY WIFE VIVIENNE HAIGH-WOOD. AT NO POINT DID I DEVELOP A BOND WITH EITHER CHARACTER. I WISHED I COULD HAVE ROOTED FOR ONE OF THEM...EITHER FOR ELIOT TO RID HER AND SEE HIS CAREER FLOURISH OR FOR HER TO FIND HEALTH AND HAPPINESS. THE END OF THE MOVIE LEFT ME WITH MANY QUESTIONS INCLUDING "DID T.S. ATTEND HER FUNERAL?"
Rating: Summary: Almost ... Review: Willem Dafoe and Miranda Richardson (who was nominated for Best Actress, 1994) are the saving grace of this movie. While is isn't bad, it isn't runaway great, either. And it takes a lot for me to admit that.
The movie is kind of uneven and ... it seems the director didn't know what direction to head in, or maybe they messed up a little in the editing room, but ... I mean that one scene where Viv is about to die of influenza, and then two seconds later she's fine and 15 years have gone by? What was that about?
But ... this movie is just another example of how women's health and women's issues were looked over not so long ago. It's always very easy to blame it on the menstrual cycle or just say she's plain crazy. viv got a raw deal.
The scene with the knife and taxicab is hilarious! I love Miranda!
Rating: Summary: Tom & Viv - - EXCELLENT! Review: Wow! I cannot get this movie out of my thoughts, it was an excellent portrayal of the turbulent marriage between T. S. Eliot and his lovely wife, Vivienne. First of all here is a 'bravo' to Miranda Richardson and Willem Dafoe, they obviously spent many hours perfecting the characters they portrayed so well. I understood what each were going through and it was a tragedy in the end that they could not live their lives together. It was obvious the love was there, but it was a sad, misunderstood love. Excellent job Mandy, you've proved your great acting capabilities to me once again, you never let your fans down do you? I highly recommend this movie to anyone, it was amazing and I cannot quit thinking about it.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Movie Review: Wow. There was some great acting involved in this movie, especially in Miranda Richardsons case. She has definately proved her acting capabilities to me, this was the 12th movie I've seen starring Miranda and she has not let me down once. Not very many actors can play the variety of roles she has, horror (Sleepy Hollow), comedy (Ab Fab), Sci Fi (Merlin), Action (The Crying Game), and she shows a super talent at drama. You name it Miranda can do it. Way to go! Also this movie was an excellent performance for Willem Dafoe, the characters were portrayed wonderfully! An excellent movie.
