Summary: Not the average porn movie
Review: If you're expecting a straight down the line porn movie then you probably won't like this too much.
If however, you're into music videos, art house movies and Barbarella then you'll find this Japanese Cybersoftporn movie fascinating.
It's cheap, it's fun, it's chaotic and it's colourful, IKU is very, very different and I love it all the more for completely ignoring all the usual boring soft porn rules.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I.K.U. is art!
Review: If you're looking for standard porn, look elsewhere! I.K.U. is an artistic film. Yes, it contains sex, but it's more. Basically, it picks up where Blade Runner leaves off. If possible, watch Blade Runner and I.K.U. back-to-back. For film buffs there are some truly incredible camera angles, lighting techniques and scene changes. The best part (which I won't give away) is the subversive ending which says a lot about the filmmaker's feelings about gender roles, pornography and society. Above all, this is an ART film, and anyone who rates it on its value as a porno flick is seriously undervaluing it!

Summary: Not worth it
Review: Japanese soft core. Full of pixilations to cover up "the good stuff", and kept crashing in my DVD player.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: I.K.U. pretentious!
Review: This film was suppose to be a artistic "destructuring" of pornography, sex & technology. Instead, it just comes across as cheap, pretentious & involuntary comical. Also the film was booed at the Fantasia fest. Maybe it warrants a rental but not a keeper!

Summary: I.K.U. is art!
Review: This movie begins where Blade Runner left off. If possible, see them back to back. If you're looking for porn, look elsewhere. Yes, there is sex in this film, but it's artistically and tastefully done. If you're a film buff you'll love the crazy camera angles and lighting. Not to mention (though I won't give it away) it has a really subversive ending which makes a HUGE statement about the filmmaker's views on gender roles and pornography. Anyone who rates this film based solely on its value as a "porn flick" is seriously underestimating its value!
