Summary: Not for zombie fans.........
Review: The cover of this movie really got to me, I thought it was one of the coolest looking covers I ever saw. When I found out this was a "zombie" movie, I had to see it. It turned out to be a big dissapointment, and alot of times I had to press fast forward or it would be too boring. What bothered me most besides the very cheap special effects (not including the eye gouge or the head shots), were probably the zombies themselves. These zombies are not really zombies, think of them as cannibals who only die when hit in the brain, that's basically what they are. Most of them don't look like zombies, and alot look too human to be zombies, which is why this movie was not fun to watch, they moved way too fast, and were way too smart to be zombies. They also felt pain and fear, which isn't realistic because zombies shouldn't feel pain considering their nerves are dead, they broke almost ever rule there is and that's the reason why I didn't really enjoy this. Some scenes were ok and some were just stupid, like zombies that aren't close to explosions being thrown away by the little blasts. There are alot of cliches in this, and if you seen Cannibal Ferox you know what will happen when the woman starts to lose it in front of the reporter. The ending was cool but you expected the reporter to actually do something, I'm not going to say what but watch it and you'll see that it was a dissapointment. Good to watch if you have nothing else to do, and maybe good for people that aren't fans of typical zombie films, but if you're a die-hard zombie fan you will be upset at what it did to the monsters.

Summary: Drastically edited version of a killer Zombie film
Review: This film, as many foreign horror thrillers were, was edited down and re-named for American audiences in the 80's. Originally 'Nightmare City', a fast-paced and unusually entertaining Zombie-thriller from Europe, this version is to be avoided if you're a Zombie movie buff as I am. Deemed too sadistic for domestic movie-goers as were 'Don't open the Window' (originally 'Let Sleeping Corpses Lie'), and 'Dr. Butcher, M.D.' (orig. 'Zombi Holocaust') the uncut film is the one to seek out. As the film opens, an army plane lands and parks on a runway with no communication coming from the cockpit. Soldiers surround, guns raised in anticipation of any possible crisis, and boy are they faced with one. The door opens, and a wave of fully armed(!) horrifying Zombies disembark, beating, slashing, and biting any and all they confront. Only a precious few led by our intrepid reporter/hero can spread the news and warn the masses of the evil descending on the city. Structured like one of those 70's disaster films (but with Zombies instead of bees or tidal waves), this is a blast of a horror film.

Summary: Great zombie movie.
Review: This is a 1980 science fiction horror action thriller from Italy/Spain/Mexico about a radioactive spill that contaminates an airplane full of passengers and turns them into weapon weilding vampiric blood-sucking murderous zombie-like mutant fiends who rampage through a big city causing death and destruction and only a reporter and the military can stop these running undead fiends.

Loaded with action, suspense, nudity, hot Spanish chicks, gore, exploding heads, great music score, interesting story about biological warnings of radioactivity and a twist in the end. This is one of my favorite zombie flicks that succeeds in my opinion and probably the first film of it's kind to introduce running zombies.

Also recommended: " 28 Days Later", " Dawn of the Dead ( Both 1978 and remake)", " Day of the Dead", " City of the Living Dead ( a.k.a The Gates of Hell)", " Hell of the living Dead ( a.k.a. Night of the Zombies)", " From Dusk Till Dawn", "Scanners", "House of the Dead", " The Return of the Living Dead", "Resident Evil", " Return of the Living Dead", " Dead Heat ( 1988 Joe Piscopo and Treat Williams zombie cop comedy)", " Let Sleeping Corpses Lie", "Scanners", " Hulk", "Class of Nuke'Em High", "Cannibal Ferox", " Final Destination 2", " Night of the Living Dead ( Both versions)", " C.H.U.D.", " The Toxic Avenger" and " The Beyond".

Summary: A Guilty Pleasure
Review: This Italian-Spanish Made 1980 Science Fiction Horror action thriller is about an airplane that lands in Madrid but unknown to the military that the Passengers were contaminated with Radioactive waste turning them into Rotten-fleshed Blood Sucking Knife-weilding Vampire-like Zombies who go around the city sucking the blood of the living and causing death.

Yeh, the acting stinks so does the dialog and the plot maybe farfetched but this is a very fun movie that i liked, i have seen it in the cut version " City of the Walking Dead" but thinking of owning the Uncut DVD " Nightmare City". The Zombies do kind of look like " The Toxic Avenger" but more vicious, these aren't your kind of Romero/Fulci-Esque Zombies, these undead fiends who run fast, came from Radioactive material and are very intelligent. This is a true guilty pleasure that i enjoy, also good for fans of MST3K.

Similar movies recommended: Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Zombie, City of the Living Dead, The Beyond, Return of the Living Dead, Hell of the Living Dead, Resident Evil, C.H.U.D, Class of Nuke'Em High, Slugs, The Toxic Avenger, Alligator, Let Sleeping Corpses Lie, Scanners, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, The Rock, and From Dusk Till Dawn.

Review: This movie hit me at a good time. When I was getting tired of the same old zombie movies (ei. Zombie or Night of the Zombies). The best part is how the zombies are so agile and not cannon fodder and how the reporter outsmarts them just to save his wife (How sweet). Ninilism at its best, gore at its goriest and possibly the most on screen deaths than any other movie ever (War movies not to be counted). The real "Nightmare" as the films original title suggests is that the character wakes to see that it was all a dream. Then the uncertanty that his day will follow the same path. That's a true nightmare.

Summary: The Cheese, My God the Cheese!
Review: This movie is absolutely hilarious. For one, the make-up on the zombies is SO poor. They don't put make-up around the eyes, and so the zombies end up just looking like guys wearing hamburger meat masks. Secondly, the zombies run around and use weapons! Sorry, but these types of zombies only work well when done comedically (i.e. Return of the Living Dead). The throat slashings also look incredibly fake. Nonetheless, this film is great fun in all its cheesiness. It has plenty of gore, even if it doesn't near Fulci quality. The only gore that really impressed me was an awesome scene where a girl gets her breast cut open by a zombie, who then scoops out the contents and eats! The classic Lenzi breast torture (see Cannibal Ferox) is in full swing here! If you want a good gory laugh, check this out. If you wanna see Lenzi at his best though, go for Cannibal Ferox.

Summary: Classic Horror Gem
Review: This underground movie is awesomely entertaining. The fact is most reviewers discredit the film thinking that it is about fast running zombies. This is actually not accurate.

Basic Storyline:

Based on a true historical fact when an Italian countryside Nuclear Plant disaster caused a small population of people to become infected. Now this movie was based on this fact ( see DVD interview with Italian Director Umberto Lenzi ) speaking in his native language ( subtitled in English ) and Lenzi expounds on this premis and makes the infected a raging horde of fresh blood seeking cannibals who need the new blood transfusions because of their own contaminated blood. The raging and evolving infected ones, growing in numbers at an alarming rate, create an apocolyptic hysteria over the city with the two main characters on the run ( a tv station reporter and his doctor wife ). For what this is, a fast-paced, italian-horror-blood-squirting-fest, this is definitely an entertaining movie to add to your horror DVD collection for sure.

Again these are NOT zombies, but rather nuclear-disaster infected-people-turned-malicious-cannibals.

Great music and interesting locations.

Summary: Is this a zombie movie?
Review: Um, this movie was ok. Its only about a plane full of mutant people or zombies, that lands and attack the city. The zombies in this are obviously far more advanced than most zombies. They can run, use machine guns, and come equipped with axes and cycles. Some parts you ask "why". Like why would they bring up the point of shooting them in the head if they never did it. Instead they waste thousands of round by hitting them in the chest. And I think I saw the same eye piercing scene in "Zombie." Oh well it dosnt matter, it turns out to be a dream anyway, which is a total let down. Oh, on the box, isn't that a scene from RoboCop3? Well, if you cant tell, it is. I wonder if they got permission for that? Well, get this movie if you like gore and zombies that look like they have acne!

Summary: The Nightmare becomes reality from the first frame onwards
Review: Umberto Lenzi, the king of Italian exploitation films, attempts to mix the Cannibal genre with the fear of Nuclear disaster. A plane lands at the airport and humans mutated into grotesque cannibals by an atomic cloud run out and start massacring everyone in sight. A reporter and his wife flee only for her to fall to her death off a roller coaster. He wakes up. It was all a dream. He goes to the airport that morning. The screen freezes with "The nightmare becomes reality" written across in big red letters. The reality of the matter is that the nightmare became reality for the viewer as soon as the movie started rolling. This film escapes a 1 star because of some decent gory special effects that will make most cringe in disgust.

Summary: Zombies Attack!
Review: Wow, I loved this zombie flick. I rented it for .50C at some grocery store late one night when my girlfriend broke up with me. Suffice it to say that I was more interested in the film! This is an eerie tale that has all the strange effects of that cheap Italian genre: diabolical and weird zombie make-up, excess gore, naked women, humans vs zombies, etc. I couldn't get enough of this and the ending even had a few surprises. I want to find this again to rent it! It is fun for all.
