Summary: Great comedy and stick-in-your-head music
Review: When I was in high school we used to pile into the car every Saturday night and head out to the midnight showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was great fun - you sang along to the songs, yelled out key phrases, and in general had a blast without booze or drugs. What more could a parent want?

The movie isn't about sex, although there are skimpy outfits and Frank's seduction of the two innocents. You see far worse in a Ricky Martin video! It's really about satiring the sweet musicals of the 60s, the campy sci-fi movies, and just about anything in between.

I would have gotten it on DVD just to have it around to sing with, but the outtakes and cast interviews are stellar. The movie itself is a piece of film history, and the additional bonusses on the DVD make this one of the must-have purchases of the year.

Summary: An excellent transfer to DVD!
Review: I just got done watching the UK version on the DVD I just picked up today and all I can say is...INCREDIBLE! As a fan of this movie there was no doubt that i would buy this today, but i had no idea how nice the transfer would be. The picture is beautiful and sound is excellent. Seeing this cult classic on DVD is a dream come true. There is also a US version with a deleted scene added right into the feature. There are tons of extras including the different subtitles. There is reg. english, spanish and 3 "others" versions. Version 1, subtitle 3 on the DVD, cues you to the things to do during the movie, such as snapping rubber gloves, tthrowing the toilet paper, etc. Version 2, subtitle 4, shows lips at certain points in the movie that, when you press the enter button, you get greeted by Sal Piro, the RHPS fan club president. He shows clips of audience reations and fans acting out the current scene in a theater. Cool! Version 3, subtitle 5, to this point hasn't done anything, but i am sure it does. All of this plus more is just on the first disc! Disc 2 contains excerpts and outtakes from the VH-1 special, including interviews with some cast members. There is also a VH-1 pop up video of "hot patootie!', a double feature video show, trailers, etc. If you are a fan of the movie, pick this up! Even if they had none of the features, the transfer is WONDERFUL! There was only one scene, Janet and Rocky meeting alone, that was not up to par with the rest of the film. It only got poor for a little bit and its not that bad. This is a must have for fans and a beautiful version for those first time "virgins"! Enjoy!

Summary: It's all been said before but what the hell!
Review: This movie was a stage musical BEFORE it was a movie, known then as "The Rocky Horror Show." If anyone thinks the movie is an experience just try to imagine all these events happening live on a stage, and not by amateurs in a movie theatre, but by real actors in real costumes singing and dancing these spaced out songs! I saw a terrific stage production of this at the Empty Space Theatre in Seattle many years ago. It was a wonderful experience in live theatre. I've never been interested in the cult aspect of this film. I just like the movie: it's fun, it's funny, and Tim Curry is simply INSANE! However, for the REAL thing, see a professional production of the original musical on stage. Unforgettable!

Summary: An Amazing DVD
Review: I bought this DVD on 23rd September in France (the identical DVD to this one). I was extremely pleased with this DVD. I have been a fan of this film for as long as I remember, and I thought I'd never get a copy of it when the VHS edition went out of print. And then they released this DVD! The special features are amazing. The menu on the first DVD is really well done and funny. Tim Curry delivers an amazing performance as Dr Frank 'n' Furter. In fact, all of the cast is good! As I said, the special features are amazing, and it's clear that a lot of effort was put into the making of the DVD. If you are a fan of this movie, buy this DVD. If you aren't, buy it anyway!

Summary: A great all around DVD!
Review: This truly is a great all around package. The DVD comes alot like the Fight Club DVD, but it's glossy and it also includes a book with cast bios and an explanation of what you need for audience participation as well as when you use it. The main menus, unforunately move slowly and navigating between them is sometimes tedious. There is always a little animation between screens which, while interesting at first, overall slows down navigation. The remastering of the video as well as the audio is fantastic. Both instruments and vocals are presented in a much fuller manner. The video is a crisp transfer, and thanks to the widescreen format, additional action is shown. The UK and US versions are both included and an additional bonus version is also included. This version is entirely in black and white until the Time Warp part where the Transylvanians start singing (a lot like the Wizard of Oz). It can be accessed through an "easter egg" by going to the main menu of either the US or UK version and then scrolling to the bottom and then pressing the left key. This should light up a pair of lips, which you then can select to lead you to an explanation prior to the movie itself. An audience participation track can also be activated through the Theatre Experience extra feature. In this mode a pair of lips will light up in the corner at times during the movie. However, the quality of the camera work is poor and the audio is difficult to hear. At times, it is practically impossible to understand what the crowd is trying to say. I feel this could have been presented in a much better manner. The bonus features disc includes a lot of material from VH1, including a pop up video and extended interviews. There are also the usual trailers and such as well.

Overall, I would highly recommend this DVD to anyone interested in the RHPS.

Summary: Rocky Horror Picture Show
Review: Those who have seen thise movie will either have there mouth drop or laugh hystericely, or both. the fact of Tim Curry in drag might shock some people, but I can say this movie is one of the best I've seen in a long time. Hearing Susan Sorandon singing "Toucha Toucha Touch Me", and Tim Curry sing "Sweet Tranvestite" was some of the funniest parts of the movie. If you havent seen this movie you should.

Summary: "It's just a jump to the left...
Review: and then a step to the right..." Time Warp has become on of the most well known but not well shown song in america today. I saw a show at Siz Flags in Great America and the song was in the show. I remember as a small child walking in my father watching th emovie, I asked him what this movie he was watching was and he said.. Well you'll get it when you are older! And I do.

This movie is about being whatever you want to be. Don't let people make this be what they want. It's up to you. Yes.. it isa little on the sexy side. And they do walk around in their underware, but... there is movie to a movie than costumes. (Yes I know, I am a costumer, but even I know it takes all the parts to makeing a movie)

It is amazing to be that even after 25 year this movie has such an impact. I am very happy that it is coming out on DVD. I suggest that you order this Version quick. So amazon doesn't run out!

Summary: Slowly, slowly! Too nice a job to rush!
Review: The first time I saw this movie, I hated it. But then my obsession grew. I continued going to midnight showings, bought the sound-track, and am a regular renter of the film. In fact, I rent it weekly. I am even in the midst of constructing my own Columbia costume! The madcap adventure of Brad Majors (Barry Bostwick) and Janet Weiss (Susan Surandon) begins when their car blows a flat. Seeking shelter, and a phone, the two venture to the castle of Dr. Frank N Furter (Tim Curry). Then the mayhem begins! Get ready for "lotsa larfs and sex" with colorful characters, sensational songs, and a screenplay that will leave you "on a night out you will never forget!" Let's do the Time Warp again!
