Summary: Great little film
Review: This is quite a film for such a low budget -- yeah, I know everyone says that, but...well, it is. I could have done without Holloway's character due to SEVERE over-acting, and yes, Quentin had the same problem (not to the same degree IMO). Still, it's better than the FX driven drivel that is coming out of Hollow-wood. I was very upset that the girl didn't make it (wasn't it she that got them where they were?), but I liked the fact that the movie brought out these emotions in me. For kicks, let your Grandma watch the opening scene. (ummm...I sure won't).

Summary: Could have been better
Review: For starters one of the other reviewers suggested that we wouldn't want to be stranded on an island with any of these people. Gee, I don't know. Nicole deBoer is kind of cute. While there are many suspensful moments (anyone want to go through the 'silent' room again?) better explanations are needed for the character's motivations, i.e. the cop. The convict/escape artist departed the premises much too quickly and, yes, the math did not lend itself well to the intelligensia watching the film as we couldn't quite figure out how the whole thing operated. That's too bad. And, of course, the only one to get out is "you-know-who." Of course one is waiting for an explanation of the whole thing which the audience deserved. However, I did like it. It was suspensful and I recommend it.

Summary: Beckett Meets Rod Sterling
Review: Point blank: this is an absolutely incredible film, intelligent and suspenseful like no others. It's an extremely cynical synopsis on life, however, so unless you are in a depressed mood, I wouldn't recommend it. HOWEVER...when you ARE a depressed, down-and-out loser rent this and don't mind the bad acting, the cheap sets, faulty lighting...just sit back relax and prepare to have your mind blown completely off it's lid.

Summary: Edge of your seat
Review: There were several moments in this movie that I was so scared I kept getting up and pacing. I have not been this scared in a loooong time. I didn't realize this film would be so good. It sort of had the creepy surreal feel of Hellraiser. I will recommend this to every one I know!

Summary: Excellent Movie!
Review: The "Cube" has proven to be one of the best written horror movies I've seen. The suspense was great the plot even better. The untraditional ending although not what I would have like to have seen proved to be very appropriate with the path of the movie. A great look at the minds of humans in the shoes of the rat.

Summary: Genuine Horror and Suspence.
Review: Cube is one of the best Horror/Sci-Fi movies ever made. Yes, the acting was a little shakey in the beginning, but still the movie was horrifying. Not only did it have suspence and blood, but also a look into the mind of differant people when confronted with a terrible obstacle. Some lose it and some try to find a way out. The tag-line sums the whole emotion of the characters: Fear...Paranoia...Suspicion...Desperation.

Summary: Truly excellent filmmaking
Review: As a small independent film from the Great White North, "Cube" delivers genuine antipication and suspense in the tradtion of Hitchcock and Serling. The 'people trapped in a box' genre may get tired, but accolades must be given to the director for utilizing the same '14 x '14 set for the entire film. If you are from Canada, you may recognize some characters from series as "Due South" and "Psi-Factor". But be forwarned, there are no happy endings, but if you are tired of overblown, big-budget films that riducule one's intellect - then "Cube" will assuredly satify.

Summary: They don't make allegories like this anymore!
Review: Who am I? Who are you? What is our purpose, and why are we here? Those are the questions posed by the characters in "Cube", and obviously not all of them have easy answers. Some of those questions are in fact never answered, which certain critics just can't stand.

The fact is that this *is* a very low-budget movie. There are a lot of flaws. (A math genius who needs to think about whether 272 is a prime number?) But director Natali delivers a powerful amount of bang per buck.

While the acting is admittedly not Oscar-worthy, the cast is as good as it needs to be, and the single set does a terrific job serving as the entire cubical prison. The pacing is taut for the most part, and the premise of the movie is truly terrifying. During one scene that depends on absolute silence, I was shaking in terror and keeping quiet myself. And I almost never shake during a scary movie.

This movie is not for everyone. But if you like brains with your gore, in a manner of speaking, check out "Cube" for a nerve-wracking treat.

Summary: CHILLING METAPHAORE FOR MODERN SOCIETY
Review: The cubic form has been used for some years now by visual artists to symbolize all that is man-made, standardized and artificial. Here we have six individuals trapped inside the very symbol of their own society. A movie for all those who are sensitive to the possibility of outside manipulation. One of the best.

Summary: pretty good
Review: Cube has an interesting premise. It is also suspenseful and does a decent job of keeping the plot moving. The set design and effects are very good for its budget. The negatives are: one scene of strong, unnecessary gore; the dialog wanders into the ridiculous at times; the acting is quite overwraught, which is the main distraction; since you don't really care too much about any of the characters, it is hard to care whether they escape the cube. Lastly, some of the character development doesn't make any sense, logically or in service of the plot. Despite those negatives, the concept and suspense keep things generally interesting - I'd give it a half-hearted thumbs up. With a stronger script, this could have been a classic. If you want smart sci-fi, though, start with PI or Dark City.
