Summary: An interesting idea marred by awful script & dreadful acting
Review: The idea of putting a group of people outside their comfort zone, each of them having a unique skill that could benefit the group and then setting them to their task could have been an interesting study of team work under pressure. Unfortunately the script did not develop the characters adequately and the actors found themselves shouting at each other most of the time in scene after scene of dreadful overacting. It's a shame really because I thought the basic idea was great, the set was awesome BUT.....

Summary: Good idea...bad movie
Review: Some of the worst acting I've ever seen in a movie. I'm astounded by how many people give this high ratings. I hesitated even giving it 2 stars. Yes, it's an interesting premise for a movie, and an interesting set, but that's about it. The characters were weak, the acting was worse than weak, the plot was weak, nothing is resolved or explained in the end (a weak attempt by the writer and director to appear purposely ambiguous is my guess). This could have been a good movie if it had been developed properly. Don't waste your time buying this one. Instead wait for it to show up on the Sci-Fi channel. If you want a good movie get Pi.

Summary: Rates in my top two movies alongside Bladerunner
Review: A superb film that goes to prove that even without the high budget to throw into effects as is the trend these days, a good involving plot and characters is what makes a good story.

One set, six actors, one costume change, nothing flash about that and yet I was sitting on the edge of my seat and shivering by the end. The plot was complex but not overly, (even with the rapid calculating of maths that I was happy to let the characters do for me at that speed) it was tense and psychologically challenging.

Of the six characters dropped into the maze, not one of them possessed the skills to get out on their own but their personalities and psychological hangups were so conflicting that they couldn't work successfully as a team. I couldn't decide if it was poignant or just corny that the only one to make it out was the innocent, the one free of mental baggage. The movie had me thinking about it for days and that was its success.

Summary: Edge-of-your-seat to the max
Review: Whoever came up with this idea and the plot is a genius...the story is just so intense and the viewer has absolutely no idea what might pop up next: traps, strangers, emotions, disagreements, escape? The plot is like another version of the famous book, "Lord of the Flies"...As I was watching this film, I could not leave my seat to do anything...the plot just keeps on throwing surprises at you, and that after the movie ended (with an awesome conclusion), I was like, "Omigosh!" ....completely speechless, a must-see.

Summary: Way too much acting.
Review: This movie is OK; just OK. It has an interesting premise and a certain level of suspense, but way too much acting and a little too much writing. The ending is a big disappointment.

This is one of those movies that nobody could think of an ending for, so they just ended it. Film school stuff, by sophomores for sophomores.

Review: One of my favorite movies.... this shows that $300k and a host of talent can go a long, long way. An intelligent movie that will keep you thinking, even if you're dumb...

Summary: Like Pi on Speed!
Review: The plot. Five people find themselves in a cube connected to hundreds of other cubes. Each person has a particular flaw and talent and they have to work together to get themselves through the traps in each cube and find a way outside. Simple? No. All traps are fatal so the risk is great, the tension is high and the special effects are pretty good for a shoe string budget. Advise NOT watching the trailer as it gives far too much away.

Nicole deBoer (Ezri Dax from Star Trek Deep Space Nine) plays a high school student mathematician in this movie. If you're a fan of Nicole you can check out a site devoted to her at NicoledeBoer.com If you'd like to find out more about the movie you can at cubethemovie.com.

I loved this movie, not only because of Nicole being a featured player but because it contained elements of Doctor Who, Blake's 7, Alien, Species and many other sf series and movies I grew up with. And it was still original! Definitely check it out.

Summary: Most though-provoking and intelligent movie in a LONG time.
Review: It's unfortunate that such a well-thought-out movie symbolic of real-life will go over so many people's heads because they can't see past special effects and look at the bigger picture. It's all representative of real-life but in a far-fetched sci-fi premise. The 6 people in the cube represent real people of society and the cube is society itself and it's all about if they can or can't escape society, and in the end you'll find out who can and can't escape. It's as finished as it needs to be. The "cube" story premise may be leave people disappointed but what it represents is more than complete... plus it's got some cool traps and death scenes too :)

Summary: Not nearly as good as I'd heard...
Review: 'Cube', although interesting in some aspects, was more of a disappointment than anything. After hearing of such rave reviews and critical acclaims I was left only to wonder why the movie got such a positive response. As a few reviewers had claimed, 'Cube' was "one of the most intensely complex movies of the year". This I found hard to grasp. The set was hardly complex and even less than appealing, the cast was a group of little-known actors where one could see why they were still unknown, and the plot, although intriguing at times, fell short of a "good story". Not to mention, after the first half-hour's worth of the movie, the plot became far too predictable, incorporating aspects of cinematography that have been done to death over the past twenty years. Although 'Cube' did come through with its short quips once and a while, it was, in my opinion, a waste of a good $$$...
