Summary: Disappointed if you expect to see performance of Alegria
Review: This is not the usual show performance of Cirque du Soleil. It's only a film with story around Cirque. Personally, I feel boring in the first hour of the film. Less than 10 minutes of the live performance of Alegria was added to the film. Unless you are a real fan of Cirque and don't want to miss anything about the Cirque, then go for it. Otherwise, if you expect to see the show of Cirque du Soleil, watch other videos like Dralion and Quidam or even Journey of Man.

Summary: Thrilling
Review: I was at a friend's home and she had on a movie channel or I would never have known about this movie. But I heard the music and saw some of the acting and I said "What is this?" and went out and bought the video. What a fabulous, imaginative, exhiliarating film. Unique and full of emotion. Not ordinary by any means, and not what you'd expect. Cirque du' Soleil is incredible, the music is incredible, and the story fascinating. If you are bored with Hollywood movies, be sure to find this. Also, don't buy the soundtrack, get the CD "Alegria". Both are good but the original version (without the girl's picture) is the best. I've made all my friends watch it, too.

Summary: What a let down !
Review: If I had a nickel for the number of yawns and eventual full blown snores we had during this abysmal production, we'd have recouped all the monies we've spent on our entire collection of Cirque Du Soleil productions, and then some. Frank Lagalla should remain in his sour and dour movie routines, and the Soleil folk should stick to what they do best, namely fabulous extravaganza productions with great music. This exercise should be filed in the 'Been there, done that' category, never to be resurrected under any circumstances, please!

Summary: Not what you might think
Review: If the History Channel were to do a documentary on Cirque Du Soleil this would be it. I'm personally not interested in the life story of a few of the performers (perhaps that's a bit to harse). I prefer the shows like I would see in Las Vegas. Give me Quidam, you can keep Alegria.

Summary: Oh no!! This is a movie not a show!!
Review: It looks like they tried to trick you. Take care!!

Summary: I was after the show, not a movie around it!
Review: I bought this DVD thinking that I would enjoy again and again the most fantastic show I've ever seen. I did not know that this was in fact a film around the show. What a disappointment!! All the more because in the end you do not see much of the show since the action is mainly on the mime. Now I am definitely after a copy of Alegria (pure and simple show) which is certainly the most beautiful, emotional, involving, tender, dream show I have ever seen.

Summary: A Breath of Fresh Air
Review: I bought this movie under the assumption it was the same as the CD I bought years ago. I could not have been more wrong, nor more pleased by my purchase. This DVD is a breath of fresh air, a stunning, surreal landscape of music and images, of hope, that brought tears to my eyes.

If you want the exact experience of the CD this is not for you. If you want a stunning walk in the park on a bright and sunny morning or waking up to find the ground covered with snow and school cancelled, than this DVD or Video is for you.

Cirque Du Soleil never fails to amaze me with their ingenuity and imagination, the two "I's" necessary to survive.

Summary: One day in French Class......
Review: My teacher Madame D'Angona let us watch a movie titled Alegria, everyone moaned and groaned even myself. Although, into just the first 5 minutes I was mesmerized by the music let alone the drama and love the story circles around. Plus the acrobatics and the whole circus is amazing to behold. This movie is most definatly described by this saying, " Don't judge a book by it's cover, "

Summary: definitely not what I expected
Review: When I purchased this DVD, I was expecting it to be a film of the actual Cirque show. I was dismayed to find out that it was not, but the film drew me inside of it and, though it still wasn't the Cirque show that I wanted to see, I was floored by the story and enjoyed the film thoroughly. The story practically had me in tears, and I was amazed at the acts that were included in the movie (particularly the hoops and the Russian Bar) and the actors. Rene Bazinet was my personal favorite because his manner and his acting just made Frac come alive and seem so real to me. The clowns were also favorites of mine. The whole mock wedding scene made me crack up. The bonuses are also great--especially the behind the scenes trailer.
