Review: Wonderful performance by the queen of period films, Helena Bonham-Carter. The other actors were equally good. Lush settings contrast against the incredibly barren lives of the characters. ONE OF THE BEST FILMS I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED!

Review: Would you rather marry a sleazy conniving social climber desperate to get out of poverty or a sweet innocent wealthy terminally ill woman? This is similar to other ill-fated Victorian romance movies including those with Helena Bonham Carter, but darker and somewhat more interesting because it's about more than the predictable class division story line. I did not read the book.
