Summary: A new Rickman fan
Review: I was totally seduced by this movie. Alan Rickman is so genuine and talented with what seems like little effort. I loved the whole premise of the film. Haven't we all been in Juliet Stevenson's place before...hanging on, drowning in grief, and forgetting all the little negative qualities we lived with in a relationship. Letting go and moving on and it was accomplished in a way that surprised me but felt real. We were able to get a copy from the library, believe it or not. I was very disappointed when I came on line and was unable to buy my own copy. It is a 'must have' for video lovers. So sensitive. Juliet Stevenson broke my heart with two of her scenes, and I was very pleasantly surprised with the cello performances by Rickman. These sleepers can sometimes be the real blockbusters. Please, please make copies available.

Summary: Superb Film
Review: What a wonderful movie. I'm sorry it isn't available at this time, but Juliet Stevenson and Alan Rickman are wonderful. Leonard Maltin's review (2 1/2 stars) misses the essence of the film. Find it used, and enjoy a compelling but funny drama.

Summary: One of my favorites...I want to own it!!!!!
Review: Please release this film for sale. I would buy a copy for myself and many more copies as gifts. It is an exquisite film, exquisitely acted and direced. A true original. There is something wrong when a film of this quality is not available.

Summary: People on the Fringe
Review: One of the most moving love stories I have ever seen, this is also film about people on the fringes of the mainstream, and the people who serve as their mediums and gateways. Feeling very much on the fringe of life herself, due to her overwhelming grief, the protagonist Nina earns her living as a translator, assisting foreigners in the arduous task of assimilation. Her living suitor works with mentally-challenged children. Her ghost lover ushers his dead friends into her home where they watch old movies at all hours, finding new meaning in them now that they are on the other side of life. Not a Hollywood, picture-pretty movie full of picture-perfect people, this story feels quite real, and the performances are all completely convincing. I want very much to purchase this film, as the copy I have was taped from the television. Please, please tell the studio to re-issue!

Summary: Truly Madly Deeply
Review: This is a wonderful movie. I saw this in England back in 1992. This movie is better than "Ghost." The acting was superb! Please release it on DVD!

Summary: A Must-See! Please Bring It Back to Video!
Review: This is the movie "Ghost" wanted to be. An early effort of Anthony Minghella's ("English Patient"), this film takes you from brink of madness to the heights of human love, as you and the characters move through both ordinary & surreal moments in life. This is a film where Alan Rickman shows his real talent & Juliet Stevens is a joy to watch. Nice to see what director Minghella could do then with a little budget, some great actors and a vision of what it means to be alive. THIS MUST BE RE-RELEASED IN VIDEO AGAIN! If you can get your hands on this, do so - you won't regret it!

Summary: a TRULY wonderful movie
Review: Truly, Madly, Deeply (TMD) is an excellent movie. I saw this movie last week for the first time. I had read reviews of the film on other websites and wasn't sure that I would like it. The film sounded weird to me and when I went to video stores, it was placed in the COMEDY section! First thing I would like to say is that this movie is not a comedy. There are aspects of it that are amusing, but if you are looking for "My Best Friend's Wedding", do not rent this movie.

However, this is a beautifully affecting film, unlike any other I recall seeing. The best way I can describe the emotions the film generates is that TMD is what "City of Angels" wanted to be. The love that is between the two main characters in the movie is so deep and moving, and the loss so profound that I do not recall having such a reaction to a movie in quite awhile.

The acting is superb-from all the actors in the film. I must admit I am not an Alan Rickman fan, but he does an excellent job. My friends call me hard-hearted because I do not cry in movies, but this one got to me. I've heard some compare this movie to "Ghost." Ghost is vastly inferior compared to TMD. I think a better comparison is to "Wings of Desire"-which is one of my all-time favorite films. The substance and direction of the two films are different, but they both concern mortality and the celebration of life. Definitely watch this movie!

Summary: Woefully overlooked. An incredible work!
Review: Sometimes the "little" films pack a heck of a wollop. This is a perfect example of how a quiet, little film, withlow-profile actors, a sweet subtle score, and deft directing can knockthe emotional wind out of you.

This is a very sad, funny, tragic, and joyous film ... all at one time! As one of the other reviewers put it, this isn't a film about two Beautiful people (with a capital "B"), but rather, about you and me. These are ordinary people trying to make the best lives that they can.

And it's extremely funny, and touching, and in the end, touched with joy and grief.

I can't recommend this movie strongly enough. Buy it. If you can't, then borrow it. Bribe a friend to show it to you. Do what you can to see it! END
