Rating: Summary: The Power of One, One Powerful Movie Review: The power of one is one powerful movie indeed. As a young boy venturing into adulthood PK experiences predjudice ,friends, lost, death, and love. He grows up to be a highly respected man in his community. And helps free his ppl from Bristish oppression and to raise hopes. The man who plays PK deserves an OSCAR for the many emotions and character traits he potrays. Marie the lead female, PK's love interest, (who I believe miscasted) potryaed the role very well. The movie is about: love, friendship, courage and hate. This strong and powerful movie will put faith of the human spririt back into your heart.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie Review: The Power of One is about a English boy living in S. Africa. I liked the Power of One because it has a powerful storyline. The actors was wonderful and never boring. The scenery was amazing. And the movie showed the apartheid well. I have to say that it is one of the best movies I have ever see.
Rating: Summary: A powerful tale of one boy Review: "The Power of One" is a movie that will leave you thinking about its subject matter long after it ends. Set in Apartheid South Africa, this tale tells of one boy, P.K., and his dream to unite the people of this nation, both white and black. The tremendous losses P.K. faces, and his ability to overcome all obstacles is positively inspirational. The triumph of the human spirit is accurately displayed in the movie, and calls each of us to fight for what we believe in. You need to see this movie.
Rating: Summary: A True Classic Review: I accidently ran into this movie on the television a while back, but I did not catch its name because I only caught the last 1 hour of the movie. However, what I saw from the movie was so good, I called the television station to find out the name of the film. This film is great because it really showed you how evil the aparteid system in South Africa was and that it not only affected blacks, but also whites. I was really moved by this film because it showed people at their worst and their best. I was inspired by the hero, P.K. to be a better person and examine some of my attitudes after seeing how his character was able to look past the narrow-mindedness of society. In closing, this film is a great piece of work to show to anybody to explain the evils of racism and how the power of one person can change the mind of many.
Rating: Summary: Really 3 and a 1/2 - but they dont allow that! Review: There are'nt enough words to describe this film....emotional, powerful, splendid....i could go on. Why only 3 stars, well to give it more would be an injustice to the book! If i hadnt read the book I would have rated this film with 5 stars, so to all those who enjoyed this film...go read the book! Being born and brought up in SA myself this film really gives you an insight into the pre-50's apartheid. Powerful performances from Freeman and John Geilgud alike, which really makes the film. Dorf is also brilliant, playing his character superbly. A Hero...i dont think so...a martyr...certinaly not... but a lesson that if more people in the world could stand up and be counted like this young man, then the world would surely be a better place to live. Many of us can change the world together... but its always the POWER OF ONE thats needed to start things off. This film is an inspiration to all. A powerful and emotional eye-opener, and though set pre WW2, its message should and must continue into the future. Love it or loathe it...whatever you choose, BUT listen to it!
Rating: Summary: fabulous Review: This movie is excellent. Rent, Buy, Borrow... Just watch it today! (Can Stephen Dorff really be any cuter! )
Rating: Summary: Two Thumbs Up! Review: I watched this movie in school. We saw because we are studing heros. This movie was one of the few that i enjoyed that a teacher has shown. It has a very profound message. It opened my eyes to what happens to blacks in places other than America. That one person CAN make a difference in the world. I recommened to anyone and everyone!
Rating: Summary: Good, but a far cry form the novel... Review: While I enjoyed this movie and the message behind it alot, I was very disapointed by how much it deveated from the book. Many events were left out changed, or put out of order. Peekay still is an admirable character who fights for what he knows is right despite the obstacles he faces. It was just such a disapointment to see the other characters who had such an impact on his life, his determination to succeed, and his beleifs downplayed or all out ignored in the movie. I would recommend you see this movie, but read the novel also, you'll get a lot more from it.
Rating: Summary: Magnificent Review: This is an awsome film. It's about a young boy of English descent growing up in South Africa in the years leading up to WWII. His treatment at the hands of boys of Dutch extraction instills in him a sensitivity to the treatment of the Black South Africans. It never found its audience because apartheid ended the week it was released. I remember this well, because I saw it in the theater on the day it opened. This movie combines social commentary, music, and boxing successfully. That alone is remarkable.
Rating: Summary: The Power of One Review: The was an amazing and powerful film, one that i did not want to see at first, but I am so grateful that i did. the film opened my eyes to the situation in south africa. It is a beautiful film full of hope and inspriation, as well as the reality of our world, and the changes that have come about. It inspires you and teaches you that one person can make a difference.A must see! I am very happy that my boyfriend had me watch it, It was an amazing movie!
