Rating: Summary: One of my faforite movie! Review: This is definitely a movie I can watch over and over again. It is passionate and human and sinister at the same time. Beautifully made (I love Amadeus as well), the acting seems more real than "acting"... which it should. I wish it would come out on DVD. I'm looking every couple of weeks for it.
Rating: Summary: Good Casting, But A poor Script Review: This was a valiant effort, but it didn't quite make it, Annette Benning and Colin Firth are wonderful as the backstabbing ex lovers, and Fariuza Balk and Henry Thomas bring an enchanting youthful innocense to thier roles, but the script lets them all down. Poorly written, it takes nearly all of the zest out of this timeless story. The main dissappointment in the cast was Meg Tilly, and she was just plain boring!!!!
Rating: Summary: far better than the liaisons dangeureuses! Review: I would have loved to review it... And with an actor like Colin Firth who was the best choice for the role that could have ever been made, I find it a pity that we cannot watch it on TV . ....
Rating: Summary: I liked it ... to a point Review: I'm hooked on the movie "Dangerous Liaisons[sp?]", but not necessarily on its stars. I'm a big fan of Colin Firth and think he makes a superior "Valmont"; and I like Annette Bening in the role much more than Glenn Close. But I thought the plot was a little thin and the dialogue not so clever. It's almost a "kinder, gentler" "Dangerous", but the ending is not so satisfying. It's probably better evaluated on its own merits, rather than by comparison.
Rating: Summary: very good Review: good actors and good music and good pictures. I am also looking for "Jane Eyre" which George C. Scott played
Rating: Summary: Far Better Than Dangerous Liasons! Review: Colin Firth is amazing. He was the movie. Fairuza Balk also did an wonderful job. Truly a beautiful movie.
Rating: Summary: Interesting treatment of the novel Review: This may be a better version of this story than 'Dangerous Liaisons'. Try the French version directed by Roger Vadim and set in modern times. Each of the three treatments has a slightly different emphasis.
Rating: Summary: AW YEAH!!! Review: This movie is what I like to call a diamond in the rough. I first saw this movie on an arts channel while I was channel surfing. I have been hooked on it ever since. The plot is great with lots of twists and intrigue. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: The age of the not-so-innocent.... Review: On the whole, this movie is reminicent of "Dangerous Liasons", but much less dangerous, and using more humor. I viewed it after becoming a fan of the British actor Colin Firth ("The English Patient", "Pride and Prejudice") Not good for the kids to watch due to some scandalous situations, but it's a delightfully fun romp!
Rating: Summary: This is a movie of candor and delicacy Review: Annette Benning is a remarkable performer, and her portrayal of Merteuil is moving and exciting. She brings humanity and verve to a part too often played by actresses who think that they are Lady Macbeth.
