Review: i first watch this movie in my ninth grade english class right before halloween. i fell in love with it then and i still rent it every halloween, and some of the months in between. it scares me so much every time no matter what number of viewing it is. it's a classic and i have yet to find a better written horror ghost story. thanks, anndi

Review: I love this movie! I usually don't like scary movies because of all the blood and gore, but this one does not use and of that and it is horrifically wonderful!!! A must see!

Summary: They don't get any scarier than this!
Review: I refuse to watch this movie alone! I have seen many horror movies and this is the only one that has had a dramatic effect on my psyche! Slow at first, the plot soon develops into a suspenseful and psychologically demanding film. Who knew that wheelchairs and bouncing balls could be so frightening?

Review: This is the only other movie in the "horror" genre that I cannot watch alone..(the other being "The Haunting" with Julie Harris(1963). The sceance scene will give you the creeps like you wouldn't believe!!!George C. Scott's performance, as usual, is wonderful.Be prepared to scream!!! Annie

Summary: Classic haunted house story.
Review: One of the rarest ghost storys that can be watched without having to worry about gore and nudity. The scares come from the storyline not from someones head being chopped off. A must have for your video collection. I only wish they would put this title out on DVD.

Summary: Best ghost-story video you could ever see
Review: This is one helaciously scary movie that continues to scare and entertain me almost 15 years after I first saw it. There isn't any gore; but it's really a much scarier movie because of the lack of gratuitous violence. If you want a good video for your next party, forget Scream -- get this one. If you can get past their funky seventies hairdos, you'll really enjoy a spectacularly spooky movie.

Summary: FOLLOW THE BOUNCING BALL
Review: This movie is truly a frightening ghost story. Director Peter Medak wisely chose to downplay any gore, instead giving us a series of terrifying sequences, revolving around a bouncing ball, a music box, a child's wheelchair, and a mesmerizing seance. George C. Scott and Trish van Devere play their parts well, with some excellent support from Melvyn Douglas and John Colicos (who in one brief scene signifies true evil). All the elements of good film-making come together in this well-filmed and orchestrated movie. A classic yet to be realized.

Summary: Steal from the best they say...
Review: I’ve owned The Changeling for many years first VHS then DVD. When movies like ‘the Ring”, “What lies beneath” and “the Others” came along I noticed something similar to my favorite old ghost story. Michelle Pfeiffer’s character (Beneath) has her first marriage come to a tragic end by a car accident and looses her children. So does George C. Scott in “The Changeling”. She’s a musician (Ditto). Watch the scene in the bathroom and then watch where they got the idea from in “The Changeling”. The neckless in the story is exact as well. Finding the neckless at the bottom of the lake (Beneath) or finding it at the bottom of a well (Changeling)... “The Ring” nabbed some ideas as well (no pun). The tortured child held captive in some upstairs attic is right from “The Changeling”. Finding the body in the well is right from “The Changeling”. The most similar scene I’ve found out of all is the scene from “The Others”. The seance is taking place and the blind women is writing on paper what she is hearing from the ghost in the house. The assistant takes each piece she finishes writing and reads out loud what the psychic has written. Exact same scene in “The Changeling”. The whole Haunted house murder mystery revenge thing is my favorite type of movie. I just kept thinking, watching these “newer” movies, I think I’ve seen this before.

Summary: Scariest Movie I've Seen So Far
Review: Well I saw this movie the first time it was on TV which was in the early 80s (I'm 27 now). By far the scariest movie I've ever seen. Others that have recommended the "scariest" include like Children of the Corn (just another slasher), Rosemary's Baby (gimme a break), the Exorcist (so-so), [Psycho--that shower scene always messes me up; can't take a shower for weeks :)]. The freakiest parts was that crazy ball bouncing, the wild wheelchairs, drowning boy, and that crazy closed off room upstairs with the music box. Saw it on TV a few months ago, still was crazy. Bout the ony other very-scary movie I've seen is the Shining which I saw the other night. The slashed up kids in the hallways and blood coming down the stairs. Sheez. Again in the Changeling the constant piano pounded is enough to unnerve you. Bout to go rent the original 60s "The Haunting" and "The Turn of the Screw" hear those are pretty good. "The Haunting of Hill House"--the remake looked pretty interesting in the previews I saw before Saving Private Ryan last week. Hopefully they won't turn it into some gorefest. [Note: the remake is only the second movie so far that will be mixed with Dolby Surround EX 6.1, No #2 only behind Star Wars Episode 1:The Phantom Menace. Anyway--the bottom line--prepared to darken your drawers!!
