Rating: Summary: Made me jump more than once! Review: The Changeling is excellent. It truely startled me more than once. I watched it with a friend on a stormy night with the lights off, if I had been by myself I would not have been able to watch it all the way through. I wish the current "horror" films were made more like this one, and the original "The Haunting". The "scary" movies of today rely too much on blood and gore.
Rating: Summary: browser Review: you will never walk by a set of stairs without being scared again....the wheelchair! I first saw this movie when I was about 4 years old and i have seen it hundreds of times since. By far, the scariest movie experience ever!
Rating: Summary: This one rocks! Review: By far and away the best horror movie I have seen (and I have seen alot). Don't watch this if you are into slasher movies, because there is not one drop of blood in it. It is truly a great horror movie....scary, suspensful and has a great story too. I LOVED IT!
Rating: Summary: Eh, it was alright... Review: I've been trying to catch up on good "old" horror flicks lately for writing inspiration. I'd been reading good things about this so I gave it a shot. It was a fairly good flick, had some positive and negative aspects, your standard fare. My primary complaint is the lack of atmosphere. Horror movies need to be dark right? Not necessarily moody, but I don't want to see a ton of bright colors, lamps and sunlight in every other scene. I want shadows, night, gray indiscernable areas. You know, horror. George C. Scott held his own, and the rest of the cast just kind of orbited him. The direction feels like an early 80's made for TV movie (whaddyaknow). EVERY shot was a cut shot. Four people in a room, cut to the one who speaks. Then cut to each individuals reaction seperately. Very little movement or creativity there. The movie does get credit for managing to be a tad bit unnerving despite it's previously mentioned fallacies, especially the first bathtub scene (pretty spooky). The climax was kind of bland though.
Rating: Summary: Great Scott! Review: I have never seen a ghost story like this one and it kept me glued to my seat! George C. Scott did a wonderful job in this film and it's infortunate that he has left us. This story is about a man's love of music(a composer)and he seeks comfort in it after his wife and child were killed tragically by a truck. He decides to seek a new home to find solace and work on his music writing. While he is settling in his new 'mansion'and working round the clock, he discovers he's not alone. Need I say more.....The connection between a broken-hearted father and the ghost of a lost child clash in a very deadly twist of fate. I suggest you see it and I am glad that I became a fan of George C. Scott.
Rating: Summary: One of the true great ghost stories Review: When I first saw this movie, I was alone and it scared me as well as kept me enthralled with the story. I have since seen it a few more times. And yes, it still gives me chills, even describing it to others gives me goose bumps. When I hear people talking about scary movies, I always, always recommend they watch this. The main reason I find it so terrifying...it could happen to you.
Rating: Summary: A lame excuse for a movie that not even george can save Review: The movie was boring and lame. It did not hold my interest at any point and the ending was confusing. George C Scott was okay....it wasn't that great of a movie though. If you want to see a old good movie, get Dracula,I Saw what you did, House on haunted hill or The Haunting (1963).
Rating: Summary: Emotionally stimulating and wrenching Review: George C. Scott's typical stoicism gives way to subtle sympathy in this chiller. Cinematographically, this film is perfect. The sadness Scott portrays in the beginning NYC scenes are reflected flawlessly by the city's cold architecture, grey weather and director's camera angles. Throughout the film, one feels helpless and chilled by the story. Unfortunately, I saw this only recently for the first time--on the original VHS tape from its home-video release in 1979. This needs to be put on DVD.
Rating: Summary: A True Scary..not Gory film Review: Absolutely the Best Scary movie ever made. Has ghosts, old houses..tension..fear..twists and turns. If you like scary instead of the Gore they make nowdays..this is The movie for you.
Rating: Summary: A must see for real horror fans! Review: This is a must see for the serious horror fan. This is the way horror movies should be made. Excellent story and acting.
