Summary: A "MUST SEE" EXCELLENT MOVIE!
Review: This movie knocked the wind out of me. I was GLUED to the screen
and could not look away and that's a feat in itself. It seemed to zip by and felt like only 30 minutes. In fact, I didn't want it to end. I am a big movie critic and 98% of the movies made in the past few years are trash, dumb, and a waste of time. It's wonderful to see that there still are a few chair-gripping, CEREBRAL (to the dense, "cerebral" means "boring"), good scripts out there. Another good thing is that ACTING involves facial expressions, eye expressions and (heaven forbid) emotions instead of blood, gore, and cursing, flying around amid shallow car chases set to bombastic and robotic "music" that is used to overwhelm and distract the viewer from the lack of script and acting abilities.
"The Others" is a fantastic find. Nicole Kidman is excellent in this. I never gave her much of a chance before, but now see that she is very talented. Julia Roberts couldn't have pulled this off. Nicole's expressions and eyes screamed volumes as she made me feel what the character felt without having to say a word. The children's performances were some of the best I have seen by kids. The other three main characters were perfect as well! They kept me guessing!
I find most movies completely predictable and the soundtracks to be overblown and distracting. That is not the case with this one. I loved the quiet moments that were used to build up the suspense and to allow the viewer's mind to race with ideas--something that has been sorely missing from films for years. The music ENHANCED the movie!! What a nice change that is! It was perfect and added mystery, eeriness and helped solidify the aura and tone of the film, instead of banging you over the head and being annoying and obnoxious.
"The Others" has terrific acting, a wonderful story line, an enhancing soundtrack, is full of feelings, emotion and fear. We all fear the unknown.

A splendid time is guaranteed for all!

Summary: wow woah-- scary.
Review: I can 't believe this came out of hollywood a clean horror imagine that . It's scary also this a gem of film a throw back to the horror films of yester year the way horror should be.

Warning: to who it may concern this film is very dark& scary would'nt recommend taking young kids to it . The reason for it being PG-13 is it's very tense . why i'm giving it 4 stars is I was bugged by anti-reglion tone part in the film besides that i'd go again to get scared out of my head. Nicole Kidman is superb in this role , watch the kids they amazed me & the casting was great.

Summary: Chilling
Review: The Others is a breath of fresh air. The movie takes place back in the 1940's. Grace (Nicole Kidman) is raising her two children who have a rare disease which prevents them from coming close to any light whatsoever. One day, several strangers show up at her door claiming to be servants. Grace accepts them into her home. She lays the rules down for them. No door must be opened before the previous one is closed.

Soon, weird and eerie occurrences begin happening in Grace's home. At first, she's unwiling to believe that any supernatural being could be dwelling in her home because of her religious beliefs. But it doesn't take her long to figure out that something isn't quite right.

The Others is a wonderful film. The scenery and background is amazing. Nicole Kidman, who I usually don't like at all, is extradoinary in this role.

This movie is packed with many suspense and chilling moments. The ending is unbeliveable, but I won't spoil it here. I'm sure it won't dissapoint you. I suggest you go to the theater right now and see this as soon as you can. I wouldn't be surprised if this is an Oscar contender next year.

Summary: MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING
Review: I successfully avoided seeing "THE OTHERS" until this saturday.
Primarily because it was another Nicole Kidman movie.
I have yet to find one of her movies interesting in the least.
Still,it was Saturday and I was at a loose end.
Besides the critics had commended "The others".
However minutes following the opening credits I began to regret not having trusted my original judgement.
Firstly it was apparant that the production budget was on a par with the "Blair witch project",i.e,'no budget at all to speak of'.There were only 6 "actors" present on film for 95% of The film, one of which played a mute.
Furthermore the two lead child Actors were incredibly appalling and worse, very irritating.
The "story" wasn't really about anything much, and throughout the movie, there appeared to be fairly irrelevent incidences that didn't have an effect on the films ultimate conclusion.
The others is basically consists of Nicole Kidman walking around for the first 20 minutes of the film acting like a child abuser, then suddenly becoming very afraid of everything, followed by an inconsequential fog that appears floating around the house from which she has now become afraid of.Not forgetting,to confuse the viewer even further, the two children cannot bear sunlight for a while, and not only is there no apparant reason for this "photosensitivity",as Kidman's character calls it,but this peculiar ailment mysteriously dissapears half way through the story, and without so much as even a brief consultation with an optometrist.Oh,and her dead husband appears from world war II,refuses to take a bath, has sex with her, gets a bit depressed, then dissapears back into the fog.
So in conclusion,The others was a waste of the admission fee and a perfectly good fog, that could have been utilised for much better use than appearing in this movie.Luckily though,it wasn't a waste of fine acting talent. All the actors ,'approximately 11 in total paid the cinema going public a great service by not appearing in anything else that we might currently have to endure. The movie was made on a budget of nothing was, about nothing, and acheived nothing.
If I could turn back time and make an alternative movie choice on Saturday,I wouldn't have watched "THIS" movie,I would have literally watched THE OTHERS.

Summary: Spooky
Review: This is one of the finest "spooky" movies I have seen since the
original black and white movie the "Haunting," from the 1960's.

What is so wonderful about this movie, is that it is NOT a slasher or demonic horror movie, but instead, a great portrayal of a ghost story (in the truest sense of the word). Nichole
Kidman's acting is fantastic, as well as the children, the little boy in the movie is exceptional in his facial expressions!
This movie is definitely worth the time and money and I'll most definitely go see it again!

Review: I found this to be an intelligent scary movie. There was no gore or senseless violence. The plot was great, and there was a lot of suspense through out the movie.

Summary: One of the best Suspense/Horror/Thrillers in a long time.
Review: Nicole Kidman? Scary movie? A Miramax Film? Yeah, that's what I thought when I first heard of "The Others." Now, I work at a movie theatre, so I get to see the movies before they actually come out (which is why I love to review them). So, I watched the staff showing, only because everyone else decided to. I was amazed at how awesome this movie is. It's freaky, it really is! There is barely any music in the whole movie, so it gives a very eerie quiet feeling. Yes, this movie will make you jump in your seat...a couple of times actually. Kidman didn't do that bad of a job acting scared, and the two kids (with cool British accents [I love British accents]) are great young actors. The ending rules too!!! See it as soon as you can when you're in the mood for a freaky movie. I suggest 13 and older for this movie due to thematic elements and frightening moments.

Summary: Not Alejandro's best - but still a classic ghost story
Review: Yes, it won't keep you thinking for days like Open your Eyes did, but it will still make your Sunday afternoon be a fun one. I was happy to spend my seven dollars (including of course my old, old student ID) on this movie. It made me wonder, it frightened me, it kept me going until a very suprising and unexpected ending. Yes: I won't lie to you like many others who always pretend they weren't surprised by the twist of this or that movie. If we were to pause the movie and ask them what is going on, those pretentious little minds would barely ever get it right.
