Review: With these words, Norma Desmond summed up the silent film industry. "Wow" is all I can say. "The Passion of Joan of Arc" is probably the most stunning and moving film I have ever seen. Maria Falconetti can show more emotion with one look than most of today's actresses can give in two hours. The most amazing part of her performance is the fact that she is sitting most of the time. She makes joan's agony palpable to the viewer. There were several parts of the film where I was literally moved to tears. I felt so sorry for her. As the film progresses, and Joan is finally broken by her inquisitors, you can feel her pain and frustration. I had chills running down my spine as the film reached it's tragic climax. The best part of the film is the fact that you take joan with you. This is not one of those films that you watch and then forget about it. It's been over a week since I've seen it and I can still see Joan's face in my mind. Brilliant, simply brilliant!

Summary: Captivating, emotional, starkly beautiful
Review: When I saw this film, I caught it in the middle and I thought is was something modern because it reminded me of Spielberg's "Schindler's List" in it's heart-rendering camera styles and beauty. The woman who plays Joan is incredible. This is the only silent film I have ever seen that brought me, not only to tears, but sobs...I was truly touched.

Summary: Definitely a Masterpice!
Review: Joan of Arc for me always seemed to be a myth and I never had much interest in knowing more about her. After watching the movie twice I was astonished. How brave and pure human being! How great and progressed spirit incorporated that little tiny woman and gave her the strength to face such adversities. The story (History) only make sense for those who believe that there is much more than material reality in this Universe. Joan of Arc was definitely sure about that reality and gave the World a proof that shows the real meaning of Faith. On the other hand those who led the whole persecution did not believe in anything else other than material advantages. In the name of God they perpetrated such atrocity because they didn't have God on their mind. This movie is a great message for those who want to move forward in terms of becoming better human beings. It is also a message for those who think that they can stop the ascendent mankind's march toward morality values. The fires that burned Joan of Arc and the movie itself twice have no power to stop the mankind's journey toward a real era of a true Christianity. Every one should watch this incredible masterpiece and read more about human beings like Joan of Arc and others. A lot of them came to this world in order to help the mankind to rediscover the true Christianity contained in this precept: "To love the others in the same way you would like to be loved".

Summary: This is the most incredible film I've ever seen
Review: I've seen this film twice in live performance with Einhorn's score, and both times I had to stifle myself from sobbing out loud. This film will tear your heart up inside of your body. It takes days to heal after watching it. No kidding. The cinematography is brilliant, but what really makes the movie is Falconetti's performance as Joan. It's absolutely heartbreaking, and I would recommend this film to anyone, even if you don't think you like silent movies. There's nothing silent about this one. It screams with emotion.

Summary: A stunning piece of film
Review: The in-your-face closeups and blunt filmwork take a few minutes to get used to, give it a chance. I had the privilege of seeing the film accompanied by a live performance by Anonymous 4, soloists and chamber orchestra a couple of years ago. I've been hoping someone would marry the two on DVD. This is one of the most amazing feats of filmmaking I've ever seen. Particularly since it was created in 1928 -- the direction, the close ups, the weird camera angles are fabulously innovative even by today's standards. There are actually fewer subtitles than you might expect, so much of the story is told by Falconetti's eyes. The scene between her and the sympathetic priest is particularly moving. And Einhorn's score is surprising too, even if you've heard it before -- the lovely, comforting aria as Joan is being tied to the stake, for example(not the juxtaposition I expected, but wonderfully effective). I remember feeling that, later in that scene (which Dreyer extends to great effect) the strings captured the very texture of the flames. Obviously, I was tremendously impressed by the performance I saw and can't wait to own the DVD.

Review: Joan of Ark was a very moving film. It was mainly about a girl who had a messege from God. Although she was persecuted she stood firm on God's messege. She was a girl of strong faith and went with God told her all the way to her death. This movie had a good prespective about the life of Joan of Ark. I think it was very well done. I could feel what she was feeling so much I cried. It made me understand what kind of life saints have. Any other person would have went insane but her faith kept her going. I was amazed how much faith she has. I really recomend this movie to all people of all ages. It shouws real heroism, and has a lot of emotion. Anyone who thinks they have it bad should see this movie. Once they see it they will feel lucky.

Summary: Oh My God.....
Review: I've searched east west north, south for this title, and I've finally got it! This is pinnacle of great filmmaking, but word of a caution for contemporary viewers; this movie is compiled of nothing but close-ups. There aren't any battle scenes a la braveheart or any other bio-film of joanne de arc. Unless human emotions are top priority in deciding a movie for ya, dont watch it. My friend fell a sleep 5 minutes into it, and another went out to get something to eat and never came back. Plus:If you love Kitano Takeshi's films you'll definitely enjoy this.

Summary: EXTREMEMLY MOVING AND FULL OF EMOTION
Review: After combing the city, I finally found and watched this on VHS. It is everything the critics say and more. And now it's on DVD? DO NOT pass this piece of epic film-making up. I also have the soundtrack "Voices of Light" by Einhorn. The music blends well with the movie and Anonymous 4 always puts on a splendid performance. A must for any medievalist!

Review: This is truely a masterpiece. I remember the first time I saw it I was touched deeply and yet terrified from the moving performance Maria Falconetti gave, in her only picture. The script was taken from the trial of Joan of arc. And I highly recommend this movie to all.
