Summary: I GIVE IT 5 STARS, BUT YOUR IMAGINATION HAS NO LIMITS!!
Review: If you do one generous thing for yourself, in this lifetime, see "the City of Lost Children". Enchanting and moving, visuals, music, dialogue and characters. If you don't enjoy this movie, then see a doctor (quick). Don't be swayed by the 2 bad reviews on this page. You see what you want to see, and "ugliness" comes from within as well. This movie is nothing short of pure magnificence! Don't take my word for it. Get the heck away from this computer, and go see it!

Summary: This was the best movie i've seen in a long time
Review: I've seen alot of foriegn films and most of them i didn't like.. It was strange because i couldn't understand what they were saying but I stil enjoyed this movie. After the first five minutes I didn't even remember that I was reading not watching the movie. I was very impressed with this movie to say the least.

Summary: Best Movie Ever Made!
Review: ....after The Matrix and The Seven Samurai, that is. When this movie debuted at the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival in '95 it played two nights in a row and I saw both showings....it made all the other offerings at the fest look wan and irrelevant. It is pure entertainment, and it's no wonder to me that Jeunet went on to make the next installment of the Alien legacy, along with two other castmembers from C.O.L.C.: Ron Perlman and Dominique Pinon. The City of Lost Children is rich and beautiful, heartwarming and friendly, and without flaw. It's one of a handful of movies I watch all the time, and there's always something new to see: it's really the most well-made movie and the most fun movie I've ever seen,--pure enjoyment! (Don't get stuck with a dubbed version---I don't speak French but I learned it easily from watching c.o.l.c.!) Note: I'm not a teenager...I'm a crusty old codger and not easy to please, so it's safe to take my word for all this! I refuse to give anything away about the flick....see it without hearing about it if you can! You'll be delighted. It's simply wonderful!

Summary: Dark and wonderous
Review: The evil Krank is prematurely aging due to genetic engineering and must steal the dreams of abducted children in order to stop the process. Sound absurd? It is. Wonderfully so.

Like a cross between Blade Runner and Oliver Twist. This is a great film.

I hope the transfer to digital and all the extras do it justice.

Summary: Laideur absolue! (absolute ugliness)
Review: This was one of the French films I bought for the purpose of learning French but after watching this horrible... thing, I have even reconsidered learning French! In fact I'm amazed for the unbelievable number of reviews giving 5 star rating of this absolute ugliness! I feel really sorry for those who might be DECEIVED by this big number of good reviews.

Summary: European Style
Review: The film is often unappreciated because of its style. It is truly a European film. No hollywood studio could ever produce such a masterpiece with even a smidgeon of its character. Jeunet and CAro do another excellent job -see Delicatessen.

A pity Ron Perlman's French is terrible!

Summary: A brilliant masterpiece.
Review: When circus man Ron Perelman teams up with a child to save his little brother's dreams from becoming all childrens' nightmares it becomes an adventure through fantasy and reality. The City of Lost Children is a wonderful piece of art work that everyone should see. And that's the Critic's Corner for today.

Summary: RUBBISH
Review: I GIVE THIS FILM ONE STAR, ONLY BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT AN OPTION TO GIVE NO STARS. WHAT A LOT OF TWADDLE.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Incredible, visually stunning
Review: I don't usually buy movies on video, but after I saw this one in the theatre, I knew I had to own it. I've seen both the dubbed and subtitled versions and the subtitled is the only way to go.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Better than Delicatesson... A true masterpiece
Review: I had the great honor of seeing this film a few years ago when it was on it's first run in American theaters. I was captivated by the very surreal and dark look of the sets as well as the plot. The look and feel of the movie remiend me of the works by former Monty Python brain, Terry Gilliam (12 monkeys, Brazil, Time Bandits, Baron Munchausin). This movie is definatly worth your time and money, but only see the subtitled version. If you like this, I also recommend Delicatesson (By the same directors), it is kind of hard to find, but if you find a copy buy it, or rent it.
