Summary: One of my Top 25
Review: SEE THIS FILM! I saw Best in Show as an inflight movie and it had nearly every passenger on the plane laughing out loud. That should give you an idea. The film is a docu-comedy surrounding the fictional Westminster Dog Show and a half-dozen prize dogs and their eccentric owners. It really is a study about people - using stereotyped eccentric dog owners as the case studies. As I understand it, the script was improvised by the talented cast, which created a deadpan documentary feel.

Kudos to the cast and crew, especially to Fred Willard as a clueless commentator. You won't believe what he says. I don't know how they managed to keep straight faces during filming. Whether you are a fan of dog shows or not, you will love this movie...especially if you are a fan of people.

Review: Being a huge fan of Waiting for Guffman, I was really looking forward to Best In Show. I was not disappointed! If anything, I think I love this film even more. From the opening scene to the last deleted scene on this DVD, Best in Show is a complete cavalcade of the bizarrely hilarious.

This strange collection of characters, and their slightly more normal dogs, are so well realized that it is difficult to remember this is improv! What an incredibly skilled group of people. You have to see this if you loved Guffman, Spinal Tap, or if you're a dog lover. :)

Summary: It's Okay...and Different.
Review: Christopher Guest likes to present the bizzare in the "ususal" envirnment. For me, the best part of this DVD was the commentary. Listening to Christopher and Eugene Levy talk about what went into this film was very funny. Funnier than the movie!

The deleted scenes were also enjoyable. This movie falls a little short of SPINAL TAP. A much better C. Guest film. But for the small screen it works oaky.

Summary: Hillarious; Great Mock-umentary
Review: This movie is hilarious. If you liked Spinal Tap, you will like this movie. If you are a dog owner, you will probably like this movie.

The story is about 4 or 5 different dog owners who are competing in the biggest dog show in the country. Each of the dog owners is a caricature ... of what the writers/actors think that breed's typical owner would be like. There is a redneck, a yuppie couple, a goober, a millionaire's wife who spends all her money/time with her dog, and a gay couple. All of these people come together at the dog show and it makes for a really funny story.

Summary: Laughing is good medicine
Review: This is for anyone who loves dogs and dog shows and anyone else who is depressed and needs a hearty laugh. Absolutely a delight! I need a copy to lend to all my friends who say there is nothing funny and intelligent in the movies anymore.

Summary: VERY AMUSING
Review: I think is one of the top three funniest movies I have ever seen and I have seen everything.
I still flash on bits and laugh sliently to myself, at least once a day.

Summary: Does your dog need a therapist?
Review: This movie is a spoof on the world of dog shows. The opening scene with a show dog and the owners at a therapist's office is hysterical and sets the tone for the rest of the movie. I must see!

Summary: This movie is weird
Review: My mom has a friend who does dog shows, and so we've been to a few. So when my mom saw it at Hollywood video, she decided to rent it. My parents and my sisters watched it while I was babysitting, and when I came home it had just ended and they were all in tears from laughing so hard. My mom said it was so cheesy, that I had to watch it, and they all sat through it again except my 15 year old sister who said it "corrupted me too much the first time" (My other sisters said they watched the second time just to watch my reactions) I found parts of it so stupid they were funny, and yes some of the jokes are good, but mostly the movie is pushing the boderline between spoof/too silly and just plain dumb.

Summary: This movie is no dog!
Review: This is a hilarious take on several couples getting ready to go to a big dog show. The actors are terrific. It looks like a documentary, but isn't.

Christopher Guest ("Waiting for Guffman")" has gathered his usual delightful crew of funny character actors to play the obsessed and frantic dog-owners. Eugene Levy is the hysterically funny and poignant nerd husband to Catherine O'Hara's lusty, love-lorn character. Christopher Guest plays a country bumpkin who brings his beloved hound to the dog show.

Dog lovers will like it. Those who think dog show people are fanatics will love it. This is funny from start to finish. Heartily recommended!

Summary: Tell Me, Do These Dogs?
Review: Fred Willard does a great spif of, let's say, Joe G. as the consumate dog show announcer, who continues to baffle and frustrate his expert sidekick announcer who take the competitive dog show world very seriously.

This is a great spoof of the dog show circuit, of course, Hollywoodizing the characters to dramatic heights. Sure, we could find such interesting and off-beat characters in any such endeavor with a sizeable population. Here, the plot revolves around following some "best of show" competitors, minus the Weimarner who is DQ'd. The scene of these DINK's who are into clothes, and starbucks, with their shrink talking about how the dog reacted to their sex life is a stitch.

Harlan Pepper is equally a riot. From his "nuts recitation" to his fly fishing expertise, this pokes fun at people who are really into what they're into. Good for them! We realize a little humor and enjoyment from poking fun at them. Hope we could stand the return views of things each of us are equally passionate about.

Dog people are great!

P.S. The Sheltie should have won!
