Summary: A unique peek into a bizzare world
Review: This is the first review of a movie I've ever written but this movie forces me into it. It certainly is in my top ten of all time. The only way I know this for sure is the fact that when we're channel surfing and we flip to this movie I am absolutey compelled to continue watching. I really can't think of any other movie that elicits this response. It's very weird to me. There is no substitute for fine writing and this movie has it in spades. The characters are developed as soon as you first encounter them but this doesn't mean it's on a superficial basis. This may all sound too complicated but I'm just trying to explain myself. Bottom line this movie is side-splittingly funny and surprising at every turn. I bet it was actually a hard movie to make but made to look easy. I've shown dogs in the past and because of this I've met lots of "dog people"(I'm not talking about your typical/normal owner)and I'll tell you...this movie's not far off...very scarey.

Review: An excellent movie - Guest is superb in this mockumentary - rivaling Guffman for 1st place, which is no easy task. The movie gets better each time you watch it - so watch alot.

Summary: Dog-gone funny
Review: Very funny movie from Christopher Guest (of Spinal Tap fame) and Eugene Levy. A mockumentary that follows various dog-owners and their dogs to a Westminster-like dog show. The couple played by Parker Posey and Michael Hitchcock were very funny. Living by catalogs. Not much in the way of DVD extras. The commentary with Guest and Levy is pretty good. I highly recommend this movie, but would not own it myself. Therefore it gets 3 stars. A very solid rental.

Review: This is one of the most entertaining shows I have seen in a long time. The writing is great and characters are so well developed! My friends and I have all watched it several times and never tire of it. Eugene Levy and Christopher Guest are geniuses!!

Summary: Not just for dog lovers
Review: Using the same formula as Best in Show, this film takes a look at a national dog show, and the characters that make it great. There is the country boy and his Bloodhound, a pair of yuppies that have a dog in therapy, and the bimbo trophy wife with her poodle, just to name a few. There are no weak characters, and every scene is great. This movie is a must-have comedy. You will laugh out loud every time you watch it.

Review: I rented this movie a while back and even watched it with some more dog loving people than I am. I found few laughs in the entire film. The best effect this movie had on myself and my friends was to put us to sleep. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone.

Summary: Funny, but very over-rated.
Review: I got some great laughs out of this movie. Christopher Guest is great of course and Fred Willard is funny (for a while). Parker Posey is bizarre-and not really in a funny way. The rest have their moments as well. Overall I was somewhat disappointed by this film. I realize that Guest's approach to comedy is often more obtuse than direct (SPINAL TAP), but here I just felt like I was going along for the ride. I never really engaged much in the film itself. Funny moments seperated by hum-drum sequences do not a great film make. Average.

Summary: Can your stomach explode if you laugh too hard?!
Review: Christopher Guest has once again shown us that anything he does will probably be worth watching. He has such an eye for people and detail, that virtually everyone can watch his movies and see someone they know in them. With a stellar cast, it's hard to pick just one actor to shower praise on, but Parker Posey once again shows us why she can play the best "female dog" characters in Hollywood ("Dazed and Confused, "Will and Grace", etc.). The scene with her shopping for a new toy for her mutt are exquisite. Additionally, the scene with Eugene Levy and his wife having to sleep in the utility closet makes my side hurt EVERY time I watch it, which should be the definition of great comedy. Probably the funniest movie released in the last 5 years, bar none!!
