Summary: Long cheeky advertisement.
Review: Remove the amazing music from this movie, and you have very little, and I suppose that's the point, fun for fun's sake, like the Marx Brothers, but the Fab Four are feeble comics, kind of smarmy and drippy and constantly selling themselves (they love making lame-brain puns based on their own songs, for example). I know this is an unpopular point of view, but I thought Hard Day's Night was a little cynical in that shameless commercial sort of way. The old codger, Paul's relation, was irritating throughout the movie. The only scene that was sweet and real was Ringo's encounter with the kids playing by the river. In fact, Ringo had the subtlest and sweetest touch of the four!

Review: It's amazing how many people at my high school like the Beatles. I think there are more Beatles fans at my school than there are Backstreet Boys or N Sync fans. The Beatles even made more money last year (mostly due to the "1" CD) than either of those bands! They're the hottest band again; something that I never thought I'd see happen, ever since I first heard them about 10 years ago when I was 5 years old. Plus I don't think most people realize The Beatles and director Richard Lester were pioneers of what would eventually become music videos, with this movie and "Help!"But anyway, about "A Hard Day's Night," it's funny looking back and remembering that I didn't even like the movie when I first saw it. I guess I just didn't get it. I was young; I guess I thought that The Beatles would be in a serious movie or something. And I didn't get the humor either. But now, a few years later, it's one of my favorite movies in the world. I absolutely love it!!! The Beatles are surprisingly good as actors. In my opinion, Paul was really trying to be a good actor the most. Look at the scene early in the film where they're in the hotel room and the grandfather has the line about "invites to gambling clubs!!" Paul is also in the shot; look at his face; he's trying so hard to look real in the situation (sort of a "reaction shot" or something) while the grandfather is speaking. Also, Ringo has some of the best lines. I love when he says "There ya' go! Hiding behind a smokescreen of bourgeois cliches!" It's so funny, because the script has so many exaggerated parodies of what they really say! I've been waiting for an exceptional DVD transfer for a few years now. I hope this is it. It should have the original mono soundtrack on it. One reason I say that is, the stereo version of some slight differences in the songs. For example, in the stereo mix of "If I Fell" Paul's voice audibly cracks. Also, is it me or are a lot of the songs slowed down? I guess when they filmed The Beatles lip-synching to the songs, the tape was at the wrong speed or something. Anyway, I also hope to see better DVD's of "Help!" and "Magical Mystery Tour" really soon!!!

Summary: Before MTV there was THE video clip by excellence
Review: -The "Beatlemania" as we thought it could look like from the inside. -The first movie centered on the music and the band of more than 1 generation -It is more important than early Elvis' movie. -It brought so much to the world of music movie (to convince yourself check "Spice world" a spoof of the Beatles' A Hard days night... without the soul.) It was and still is a reference I still look at it from time to time and still love it 35 years later. Teenagers see it today and do love it too. Even though it doesn't have all the glitter of the modern videoclip, it still brought to the main audience a lot of concept that where unheard before and are still used today Did I mention? I'm a fan!

Summary: Hard Day's Night
Review: To me, A Hard Day's Night is sheer entertainment. It is a movie you can just sit back and enjoy. Watching it takes me back to when I saw it the first time at the age of 13. There is plenty of action, but no violence. Even when the girls on the train realize who the boys are, though they become giddy, they don't set out to tear off the boys clothes or such. In addition, all of the characters are neatly dressed and clean looking - nothing like what pop/rock stars today look like. There is also no profanity in the script - a far cry from today's movies when every sentence seems to have one or two curse words. Though by today's standards the movie may seem lame, at the same time, as far as clean entertainment goes, it's a lot of fun and I enjoy watching it over and over. Even my kids (24,22,13) like it. I wonder if the same will be said for movies today by my grandchildren years from now.

Summary: One of the most amazing movies I've ever encountered!
Review: I am an extremely huge fan of the Beatles. I suppose that would make me rather biossed in my review but here goes. Not only does this movie have great comedy, there's the music. This music is timeless and absolutely amazing! This movie touched so many people and still does now. I can't think of a movie that I've enjoyed more than this. John Lennon's wonderful comic timing comes through in this movie so much and the way that the cinematography was done makes you feel as though you're actually there with John, Paul, George, and Ringo. The movie also portrays the Beatles as separate people. It shows them as individuals that come together to make wonderful music and set the world on fire. If you buy this movie, I guarantee that you will watch it again and again just like I do!

Summary: What a clean old movie?
Review: When I was in high school my mom bought a record by this new group The Beatles. I wasn't impressed, give me my 409 and Shutdown. But when A Hard Days Night came out I saw it, not that many rock movies except Elvis back then. After 2 or so times through I left the theater, jwalked accross the street to the music store, bought the sheet music and retired to my guitar. I was hooked! Now ask me who's that little old man and I'll ask back What little old man. I think I have the whole thing memorized. I bought the videotape, my wife gave me the computer CD ( There are some interesting cut scenes), and later she bought me the DVD. I quess I didn't know all the script after all, The DVD version adds the clarity to really follow a great movie. The acting, these aren't actors, but you have to remind yourself of that. Compare it to say the Monkees, argh. The Writing/Directing, an English friend turned me on to the Goon Show and I thought of the movie, then discovered the Goon Show-Lester-Beatle connection and saw where the great scripting and scenes came from. A must see if you were there or want to know what it was like then.

Summary: A Great Film
Review: I have been a huge Beatle fan for years, especially when I was an early teen (oh, so long ago). Despite my declining interest as I grew older, I have recently began to listen to them again, and with a fresh perspective, I am once again in awe of their genius. I own both this movie and "Help" (they sustained frequent usage when I was thirteen), and I watched them then because I loved the Beatles. Now, I am a 21 year-old film student, and since I have "rediscovered" their merits, I watch these films because they are GOOD! There are entire film classes taught on this film, frame for frame, as the precurser to modern day music videos (I'm sure you-all have heard this before, but it needs to be said because it's true.) If any youngsters have admired the filmmaking of current directors such as Cameron Crowe (Jerry Maguire, Almost Famous), many of these directors have declared that this movie has greatly inspired their own films. So watch "Hard Day's Night" once for enjoyment, then again for appraisal of the filmmaking innovations. By the way, these guys were funny!

Summary: Looms large in their legend
Review: When compared with the relative merits of, say, The Marx Brothers' "A Night at the Opera", it's no more than their "A Night in Casablanca". Not a bad place to be, but still with room for improvement. On the other hand, when compared with the relative merits of "Spice World" (which essentially tried to be the same movie), it's more like "Casablanca" itself. What we have here is a movie that is most definitely better than it has any right to be. Going in, I was expecting to notice many Marx Brothers comparisons. That's the hype, anyway. Now, John does a credible Groucho, trying to poke holes in all the hot air balloons he sees. His reply to the notion that the place is surging with girls ("Please sir, sir, can I have one to surge me sir, please sir?") is Grouchovian at its most bratty. And Paul manages to pull of a neat Zeppo impression (not the best brother to emulate, mind you; but to be fair, Paul is much more integral to the plot and gets off more wicked lines than Zeppo ever did). But George and Ringo don't follow the template at all. George is deadpan all the way, letting the surreality of the situations he finds himself in slide neatly off his back. When noticing Ringo's ire at a stagehand messing with his drums, George logically notes that "he's very fussy about his drums, you know, they loom large in his legend." Ringo, for his part, is cast as the put-upon little brother of the band. Many jokes are aimed directly at his whopping proboscis, and his lack of physical stature. It's all given him an inferiority complex. No wonder he plays the drums. "It's me active compensatory factor," he says. The boys are at their best when they play the scenes straight. There's nothing worse than a ham actor laughing at his own (scripted) joke. Thankfully, that's kept to a minimum here. They don't have the prodigious comedic talents of the Marx's (who does), but they certainly have enough to pull off the wonderful comedy in this script. The Fabs are ably supported by a fine group of comedic actors. Wilfred Brambell is a suitably hammy as Paul's mischievous (and clean!) Grandfather. He even gets some fine scenes all to himself, most notably in the Casino and the police station. Norman Rossington and John Junkin are the doctors in the Beatlemania asylum (a.k.a. the road managers) and hold the fort well. In a smaller role, Victor Spinetti is funny and quite creepy as the prima donna TV director. All of these actors/characters serve the movie well, in that even though the situations are far-fetched, they are always grounded within the narrative enough to not seem completely ludicrous. Besides the comedy, the movie's strength is, of course, the music. Luckily that, even during their early days, the Beatles wrote an abundance of perfect pop songs with which to pepper the soundtrack. The title song opens the action wonderfully, as we follow the boys fleeing from a throng of fans. The "Can't Buy Me Love" scene in the field is full of infectious energy, topped off with a great punchline (George's comment to a scolding busybody: "Sorry we hurt your field mister.") Also great are the "Should Have Known Better" scene in the luggage compartment, and the songs played at the TV taping. I guess it's not a stretch of the imagination to say that the Beatles were a great band. But it is nice to be reminded that at this point in their career, there was an exuberance in their writing and playing, that is captured in this film perfectly.

Review: When kids my age think about movies from over 30 years ago, their like "this movie will probably be so stupid". Being a Huge Huge Beatles fan I thought I'd see what this movie was really like. It is one of the best movies I've ever seen! I didn't know John,Paul,George, and Ringo could be so funny! I got a kick out of it and my mom and dad are buying it for me for my birthday. This movie is great and I suggest you go out and rent it and see for yourself.

Summary: what a film?? no act & wasting time!
Review: there is no clear story in this film. The act of the musicians were confused! The songs they played are okay! but to be honest the Beatles were a good band but not in the wide screen. That is the same childish story like their second one HELP.....if you re a die hard fans,..is ok.
