Summary: it's ok but not good
Review: Notting hill was funny very funny a must for Hugh Grant and julia roberts fans. but sometimes it got boring in some bits.

Summary: Romantic Comedy at its Best
Review: Whether or not you're a Julia Roberts fan, you'll have to appreciate her ability, in this film to portray a superstar close to her real-life situation. She is charming and funny in this movie, but has a mean streak that probably is not too far off from reality. Hugh Grant plays the perfect low-self-esteemed Englishman who doesn't look for love with a moviestar yet is unable to detatch himself from her once he's there. The supporting cast members, especially Grant's roommate Spike, keep you laughing throughout and keep the quiet and even-keeled Grant interesting. It's the kind of movie that depicts something we all, in some small way, would like to have happen to us with our favorite actor.

Summary: A charmer
Review: In a scene in which mega-star Anna Scott (Roberts) shows up at her date's family function, one guest, upon being introduced, gushes that she had always thought that she and Anna could be best friends. It occurred to me that -- probably -- a lot of people say something similar to Julia Roberts. Her screen persona is so engaging that one can imagine a relationship between her and "ordinary" folks.

But this movie is also a Hugh Grant vehicle and he holds it together well, from start to finish.

Not to be overlooked is the wonderful group of wacky friends. Rather like the group in Four Weddings and a Funeral, each makes a unique contribution to the story.

Charming and delightful. Really.

Summary: Two thumbs up for Hugh, Two big toes for Julia
Review: Once you're done with all the hoopla about what a great couple Hugh & Julia are, you realize she really didn't have that big a part at all, which is fine with me. Hugh Grant literally carries the film with his wit and "oh, what a fool I am" persona. The supporting cast also shine during a hilarious dinner sequence, and throughout the film, leaving Julia to meander like a lost tourist trying to find Picadilly Circus. She's just sort of a fixture in the movie, like the loo down the hall, luv. Good writing and directing, but keep your wits about you, it isn't sensational.

Summary: Best film ever!
Review: This is one of the best films that I have ever seen! I also thought that Four Weddings and a Funeral was good as well and I can't decide which one is better. I'm not too sure if the story line would happen in real life but Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts make it seem so real! I think that they make a very good duo! I will never stop watching the video because it is funny every time I watch it!

Summary: Must be fun if you are a great fun of Julia Roberts
Review: Maybe I expected too much, but I could not help feeling disappointed. It is focused on making Julia Roberts look charming, and the not-so-bad story gets boring as it poceeds. I am sure you will love this DVD if you like Julia Roberts and her acting.

Summary: Boring,very very boring
Review: If you want to waste your money, go rent this flick first. It will certainly be worth the rental fee if you have insomnia. Probably will put you to sleep in the first hour. That is if you do not turn it off before you fall asleep. Nothing interesting in this movie except watching Julia pretend there is some chemistry with a bookstore owner who said 5 words to her. It just gets worse after that. Grants family and roommate are completely dull.

Summary: Nodding Off Hill
Review: I have read the glowing customer reviews of this movie, and I find myself wondering, "Did I see the same film as these reviewers?" I found Notting Hill to be painfully boring. There was no chemistry between Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant, and the plot moved excruciatingly slowly through most of the film. I thought the movie was a discredit to both its stars. Skip it.

Summary: Light a fire and check this flick.
Review: If you loved "Three Weddings and a Funeral," you will love "Notting Hill" even more. Hugh Grant is his usual charming, "Aw-shucks" character, his flatmate is a bizarre, quirky comic relief fellow, and the ensemble cast provides warm, funny friendship. Julia Roberts seems to be telling her real life story through the simple love story. Watch for an uncredited cameo from Alec Baldwin. Light a fire and check this flick.

Summary: Not Just a "Chick-Flick"
Review: This movie starts in a quiet and comfortable manner - keeping the pace night and even until

BAM

You find yourself engrossed in this lovely scenerio between two people that are utterly believable!

The story kept only getting better, the supporting characters are not a distraction, only enhance the movie's charm! I watched this with my man, [who dislikes the romantic/chickflick genre] and he loved this also!

This is a must have DVD - for anyone that enjoys a good story, a good cry, a fantastic ending, and the roommate from hell that you gotta love!
