Summary: Timeless Lessons
Review: I feel that this is the most incredible tale of taming the wilderness, falling in love and growing up. Jim learns what it is to love and be a man. This movie and it's companion, I feel are timeless classics that you can never get enough of. In life you have to fight to get what you really want, and if you want it bad enough and fight hard enough all will work out. That is the tale of Jim Craig:Australian Mountain Man!

Summary: Breath-taking photography
Review: This is my wife's favorite movie! This combines a great story, romance, horses, soundtrack, and most of all, spectacular photography. It is also very 're-watchable'. This belongs in your collection. I am anxious for it to be released on DVD.

Summary: A Classic.
Review: The Man From Snowy River is an all-time favorite movie of mine. Horses! Gorgeous Australian scenery! Men with accents!

But eye candy aside, it's an excellent movie in its own right, with no weak points except, very rarely, instances of mediocre cinematography. Tom Burlinson carries the character of Jim Craig perfectly, Sigrid Thornton is marvelous as Jessica Harrisson, and for years I had absolutely no idea that Harrisson and Spur were both played by Kirk Douglas.

Beautiful scenery, beautiful acting, but both are merely dressing on an equally beautifully story that flows seamlessly from beginning to end.I would praise it more highly if I could, but the highest praise I can think to give the movie is that, while I am watching it, I do not question for a moment that it is real--soundtrack notwithstanding, because the soundtrack is so perfectly suited to the movie, heroic brass and romantic piano and strings.

You don't have to be a horse fanatic to love this movie, even though it is the second-best horse movie of all time, surpassed only by its sequel, Return to Snowy River.

Summary: One of the few perfect movies
Review: This is one of the few movies I would call "perfect", it adds all the elements of a perfect movie. First of all the casting was perfect. The story line is great and you wonder in the end how they so cleverly wrapped up a somewhat complex set of circumstances into such a pleasant movie. But I think what made this movie perfect is how Bruce Rowland was able to compose music that captured the granduer of the mountains with the feelings generated by the story-line. Give Bruce Rowland the biggest award for this movie.

Just a side note. Snowy River Part II is pretty bad, Disney somehow got a hold of this gem and stuck it into their Disney formula. Too bad. When I bought the CD for part II I was pleasantly surpised how good the music was. Once again, a big congratulations to Bruce Rowland and his genius song writing.

Summary: The Man From Snowy River
Review: I have loved this movie since it first came out way back when. The set up is pretty slow (my kids were bored), but the final chase on horseback is on of the most exciting things on film.

Summary: One of the greatest movies ever made
Review: The Man from Snowy River is a beautiful, classic movie that will touch anyone's heart. The photography is breathtaking and still some of the best ever today shot of those horses thundering across the plains and down the mountains. But besides the photography, the storyline is just perfect. And of course, horses!

If you haven't seen this movie or its follower, you have no idea what you are missing out on! It's one of the greatest movies ever made, and should be seen by every family in existence. Still searching for that beautiful music from it ~
