Rating: Summary: There are five letters in the word Blaine.... Review: I've seen this hilarious, poignant movie about 15 times and I still discover more to appreciate in every viewing. Thank you, Christopher Guest, for adding so much joy to my life (and the lives of all my friends who received copies as gifts). Now if I could only find those Dinner with Andre action figures!
Rating: Summary: If you grew up in a small town... Review: If you grew up in a small town in the middle of nowhere, with a town-wide inferiority complex and dislike/jealousy of "city people", this movie is as sad as it is funny. Like looking in a mirror. A great, GREAT commentary AND comedy. Bring it out on DVD!
Rating: Summary: THIS IS SPINAL TAP...AGAIN! Review: I was absolutely amazed by this display for Christopher Guest and all the Spinal Tap guys who got in on writing and producing. This movie is great and side splittingly funny. Anyone who liked Spinal Tap, WATCH THIS MOVIE. Great, now put it out on DVD!
Rating: Summary: What about the truly talented musical director? Review: Sure this is the FUNNIEST, pleasurable spoof--but isn't the opening music of the show TRULY well done? The musical director with his Zen approach (learn it and then forget it) has made a gem of the music--it gives me gooosebumps when I hear that darling melody. The rest of the cast throws him away, but he does have talent, unlike anybody else. And the trumpet player who simultaneously keeps time with the drum shows how necessity is the mother of invention--small town folks sometimes wear two hats. I think there is a message here.
Rating: Summary: Funniest movie ever! Review: I loved Waiting for Guffman sooo much. It was one of the best movies I have ever seen. Me and my friends laugh our heads off every time we see it, and all the lines in it are so funny. The characters get even more funny as you see the movie more, and I loved all the little quirky things in the movie. It is definetly my favorite movie, and I've seen a lot!
Rating: Summary: Teachers Pet Review: This is one of the best movies i have ever seen. I like it so much that i have watched it at least 20 times and can repeat every line on command. I like to tell all my friends about it. Some day I want to move to Blane Missouri. My good friends Luke, Sam and Jeremy also agree that it is the best movie every made even though it only made it to theaters in part of Iowa. Corkey was one of my favorite characters of all time. Also the best song in the world is Teachers Pet. Also watch out for the old guy that that does naughty things to peoples wives. Got game baby.
Rating: Summary: Keeps you laughing constantly Review: No crazykedor, you *don't* get it...the movie is a SATIRE, and a hilarious one. Everyone I know who has seen this has loved it - particularly my roomate who used to do community theater himself. Every actor is perfect in their over-the-top role. Every time I watch it, I pick up on another joke that I had never noticed before - my favorite is the absent penny in 'Penny for Your Thoughts'. This is one of the best under-discovered movies you'll ever see.
Rating: Summary: "I am gonna go home and i am gonna bite my pillow!" Review: Waiting for Guffman is literally an experience. (I have yet to figure out why it was never nominated for an Oscar! ) The characters in this movie are so believable and serious about life in their small town of Blaine. Christopher Guest and the rest of the cast play their parts so innocently and with so much imagination. What most people do not realize is is that the whole movie was done by improv. This movie accurately portrays what the ordinary man is really like... passionate by often naive. I think that anyone who enjoys witty, independent films will see Waiting for Guffman as a pleasant retreat from some of the slapstick, laughs-in-a-can comedy that Hollywood tries to force feed us with. A movie like Waiting for Guffman realizes that the viewer is smarter than that.
Rating: Summary: This is the funniest movie I have ever seen Review: This movie is so hilarious, the characters are so well developed you feel as if you know them. The story is really funny too. I love how it is set up like a documentary, that is such a cool way to present it. Christopher Guest is such an excellent director, if you like this movie see "This is Spinal Tap" it's also a "documentary" and it is hilarious. As for the R rating, it shouldn't be there, it should be PG-13, there is no real violence or sexuality, just a few swear words, but even the swearing isn't that bad, if you're worried about letteing your kids see this movie, don't be, it's not that bad, they just might not get the jokes. I love the remains of the Day luchbox, its so cute, I want one.
Rating: Summary: Hysterical Review: i can watch this movie once a week and still be on the floor laughing. if you ever lived in a small town, you know all these characters, if you ever were in theatre or drama, you worked with them. the elusive "bunny" (corky's wife) has my vote as best supporting actress...without saying one word. i am always on the prowl for my remains of the day lunchbox not to mention my dinner with andre "action" figures. if you don't get it, you won't get it.
