Summary: Anne of Green Gables ( The entire series)
Review: I just recently purchased all 3 sets of Anne of Green Gables. It is my all time favorite movie. I feel that all 3 movies are just as good. I love movies that continue a person life. I am actually hoping for a 4th movies showing Gil and Anne raising a family together. Megan Follows is such a great Anne!! I just enjoy watching the movies again and again. I hope everyone loves them as much as I do. Even my children enjoy them!!

Summary: Anne of Green Gables/Anne of Avolea, all time favorites
Review: I read the Anne Books by Lucy Maude Montgomery and just had to have the videos. Even though the story line in Anne of Avonlea (second video series) left out a lot of the three books it was taken from it was done so smoothly that it didn't make any difference. The Anne series is superb. The acting superb. The characters chosen so well. I was so disappointed when it ended. Anne of Green Gables is a very moving feel good movie about an orphan girl who finally finds a home with people who love her (although she was not a boy) Her mischeivious ways and melodromatic way of telling tales and making apologies keeps you waiting to see what she will do next. You laugh, you cry and in the end you wish it would keep going forever.

Summary: A True Masterpiece
Review: Megan Follows plays the immortal Anne Shirley in Kevin Sullivan's masterpiece ANNE OF GREEN GABLES.

This award-winning mini series tells the famed L. M. Montgomery story with style, wit and love, shooting on location in glorious Prince Edward Island, and creating an unforgettable experience.

Colleen Dewhurst plays Marilla Cuthbert who, with her brother Matthew (Richard Farnsworth) want to adopt a boy to help on the Green Gables farm. They get the shock of their lives when a little girl wearing a ragged straw hat and carrying a threadbare carpet bag walks onto the station at Bright River.

What follows is the girl's amazing transition from childhood to adolescence, and her funny ways that endear her to Marilla and Matthew.

Featuring a tart and impressive supporting cast with Patricia Hamilton as Rachel Lynde, Schuyler Grant as Diana Barry and Jonathan Crombie as Gilbert Blythe.

Summary: Wow!
Review: I absolutely love this movie. It's one of my two or three all-time favorite movies. I'm a tremendous Anne of Green Gables fan, and the accuracy with which this movie was made is wonderful. The scenery is breathtaking and has cemented my desire to visit Prince Edward Island sometime soon. I've seen the movie countless times and love it more every time. My first daughter will be named Anne, with an E of course :)

Summary: A wonderful adaptation
Review: If you have read the Anne of Green Gables series, this movie will enrapture you! The portrayals are flawless, and the small changes made to the book are not intrusive. If you haven't, you will still love this family story of a young orphan girl finding the family she always wished for.

Sadly, Colleen Dewhurst (Marilla) and now Richard Farnsworth (Matthew), are no longer with us, but the two give wonderful performances as the brother and sister who apopt Anne. Megan Follows also gives a well-done, earnest portrayal of Anne. It would be easy for an actress to end up doing an over the top job with the whimsical orphan, but Follows tempers her outlandish escapades with true emotion.

I would highly recommend this movie, and its sequel, Anne of Avonlea, to anyone who has children, or is a kindred spirit. And I would also recommend the wonderful series of books, as well. LM Montgomery's Anne series, her Emily series, and her individual books like JANE OF LANTERN HILL, THE STORY GIRL, AND MAGIC FOR MARIGOLD, are wonderful classics that any child, especially girls, will love!

Summary: Two Timeless Classics and a Total Disappointment
Review: As has been said previously, Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea are two timeless classics for young and old alike. Each age group has something to identify with-whether it's Anne's comical adventures, her relationships with Diana and Gil, or her search for happiness in the midst of career difficulties.

What makes these movies such gems is the overall innocent charm and whimsical beauty. They are the perfect sick day or snow day solution, and every woman should watch these at least once with her "bosom friend".

However, I urge you to AVOID Anne the Continuing Story. I was impressed that the main characters all returned, but that is about the only thing true to the series (even Anne's voice is different). The charm and innocence which attracted me to the first two are totally overshadowed by a serious war theme. Anne is certainly on an adventure, but the comical mischief is replaced by unbelievable circumstances and poor background music. The one positive thing I have to say about this is that it is so far from the other two that I don't think it has scarred my views. Fortunately, I am able to look at it simply as a bad movie.

I would urge you to save your money and not buy part three at any auctions. Instead, continue the search for the first two series. Maybe a DVD edition will be out soon??? (I hope).

Summary: wonderful movie for everyone
Review: i don't remember the first time i saw this. i can't remember a time when i hadn't see this movie.I LOVE IT!megan follows is anne, whenever i read the book, i always picture her as anne, dyeing her hair, leaving the cover off the pudding, so the mouse got in... whenever i think of anne , i think of megan. richard farnsworth is the one and only matthew, i was so sad to learn he had died, he was perfect, and collean dewhurst? no one could have done a better job.the rest of the cast is wonderful too. schyler grant, is diana and she made me laugh on several occasions.jonathan crombie is SO GOOD as gil, alot of people couldn't understand why anne hated him for so long, but i can, having a temper of my own, though i'm not a red head. it's hilarious the way anne ignores him throughout the film, when she sprains her ankle, she's rather take the long way home, then have gil help her home.each actor made the characters come alive for me when i read the book(i read it before i saw the movie, i think?) the scenery on prince edward island is SO BEAUTIFUL! the first time, i saw the movie, i was like"WOW! i HAVE to go there!" the music also helps the movie, everything just clicks, the actors, the script, the scenery, EVERYTHING. i recommend this movie for everyone, but espacially for girls, anne is a wonderful role model, (i'm 14 and she is my fave fictional character) go ahead and watch it, i guaruntee you will love it!
