Summary: A beautiful ending to an incredible series
Review: It's been rumored for some time now that Tenchi the Movie III will be the final entry into the Tenchi Muyo saga. If that's true, I'm glad they chose to end the series this way. This is a truly beautiful film. It tells the story of Tenchi being kidnapped by a mysterious woman, Haruna (I know, yet another random Tenchi girl, but it's okay, trust me) and taken into a parallel universe, where Ryoko and Ayeka can see him, but they can't touch him and he can't hear them. So they have to somehow (Washu) enter that world and bring him back before the unstable parallel world collapses.

Okay, so I know what you're thinking - what about the huge Tenchi Muyo-esque battles? There aren't any. That may drive some people away from this movie, but that allows for more interaction between the Characters. And that's what Tenchi Muyo is all about, character development. You hate Haruna in the beginning, but then you feel sorry for her, and come to love her just like any other Tenchi girl by the end of the movie. She's a very well constructed character, better than the rather shallow Mayuka of Tenchi the Movie II. And finally, once and for all, it is revealed who Tenchi really loves between Ayeka and Ryoko, and you realize you knew it all along.

The animation in the movie is a bit different than usual Tenchi fare... slightly El-Hazard-ish, but it's very good - good costumes on the charactes, tons of emotion in their faces, and very detailed backgrounds. The soundtrack's awesome, too, lots of great piano, and "I can hear a Love Song" is even better than "Alchemy of Love"!

When Tenchi the Movie II came out, I was shocked that this could actually be a Tenchi product at all, it was terrible. Probably the only anime that I have that I've only watched once. However, this movie redeems it all, and finishes the series with elegance. Buy it on DVD, you won't regret it!

Summary: A very interesting movie
Review: Tenchi Muyo in love 2 was really great, because it proposes us a more adult show. Nomore fight between Ryoko and Aeka. Besides, the bakcgrouds are fantastic. For sure better than "The daughter of darkness". Waiting for the fourth one...

Summary: by all means, watch the subtitled version
Review: Now that i have watched both subtitled and dubbed versions of Tenchi Forever, i can easily say that the dub almost ruins the film. In the dub, Haruna seems only as a bratty and scheming slut, while in the sub, there is quite a bit more depth to her character.. not to mention that everything simply tied together much better in the sub than in the different english script. Now that i have watched both versions, and finally have a grasp on the story and the character's motivations (mainly haruna's), i would have to say that it's a very good film.. but something about it just seems to disrupt the flow of the rest of the series. First off i would say that the sex scenes between Tenchi and Haruna, just really seemed to stand out among everything else in the rest of the film. i guess i expected them to be more stylish in an otherwise beautiful film (or this could just be a fan talking that if tenchi IS going to have a love scene, he's dissapointed that they took the cheap route and it's not with either ryoko or ayeka). Second of all was the new character designs, which i would have no problem with, but why did they have to change character designs in the essential farewell to tenchi? they are great designs, but it all seemed alittle too late to me. Well, aside from my few complaints, it is still a great tenchi film and worth seeing (or even buying) for a fan, its simply that they experimented with the old tenchi formula quite a bit and sometimes it seems as if you are watching the familiar characters in some parallel universe (err ok one that just doesnt seem to fit correctly with ANY parallel universe within all of tenchi's parallel universes..if that makes sense, which it doesnt)

Summary: Awful
Review: What was this movie? It accomplished just about nothing and just rehashed Tenchi in Tokyo for the most part. Joy another Tenchi/Girl x relationship. It's craptacular. The person who said "this could've been a lot better" couldn't have been more right. There's no reason to really see this at all in fact as it doesn't really do anything beyond the ending of the tv series anyways. Do yourself a favor and rent this one before you buy it. Better yet, skip the rental and just avoid it like the plague.

Summary: This movie isn't up to Tenchi Muyo! standards
Review: If this is the end of the Tenchi Muyo! series, I am going to have to do something about it. This movie was a disaster in almost every way. Character designs were changed, making them look vertically skewed. The storyline took a nose dive into boredom, or quote "reality" and a severe lack of action, humor or almost anything Tenchi. There was also a lack of the appearance of everyone but Ryoko and Aeka.

Until now, the Tenchi Movie series were very good in every way. The first, based on the TV Series, 'Tenchi Muyo! In Love', and the second, based on the OVA, 'Tenchi Muyo! Manatsu No Eve', held much more humor and action, while effectively communicating a sad story. Unlike the rest of the Tenchi Series (TV or Cinematic), this movie dove straight into the depression, with out an enemy or any idea of what the heck was going on.

Music was another problem. Most of the lines were blasted out by obnoxiously loud music, which itself was substandard compared to 'Manatsu no Eve.'

For a basic storyline, without spoiler, this movie was almost a rehash of 'Manatsu no Eve' without action or humor.

In the end, I was very unhappy with the fact that I preordered it almost half an year before release. It was certainly not worth the wait, and probably not worth your life savings if you're expecting another 'Tenchi Muyo! In Love' or a 'Manatsu no Eve' A certainly unfitting end to such a glorious series.

*'Manatsu no Eve' is 'The Daughter Of Darkness' over here.

Summary: good
Review: Okay, it's not as good as the first two to me. Even though I don't have to have action in a movie to enjoy it, I was hoping for a little bit cause I love Tenchi battles. But there is none, battle-wise at least. The story is good and if you take it by itself and don't compare it to the rest of Tenchi (any of it), it's actually very good. I do hope that AIC and Pioneer do go through with plans to continue the OAV series (Perhaps with a 4th movie instead of a 3rd OAV series) because I would have liked to see a bit different of an ending (not just because I wanted *insert name of losing girl* to win and get Tenchi). Still, this movie is a nice little viewing, drags a little and the music CAN be overpowering, though I like the end song. I suggest that Tenchi fans and fans of dramatic anime see this. If you require some battle action to go along with your anime story, don't even touch this movie's box. Go with "in Love" or "Manatsu no Eve." (Weeee Mayuka ;)

Summary: Very good but incomplete...
Review: I love the Techi series and have seen the OVA series and the movies. The animation is of supreme quality, and the music is excellent, even though it becomes overpowering sometimes. What I don't understand is how Haruna fit into the whole scheme...Yosho isn't really an old man (for those of you who watched the OVA series), and I thought he left Jurai to fight Ryoko, not to run away with Haruna...despite the holes in the plot and the less than satisfactory ending (C'mon people, don't be afraid to ditch the loser and actually show the winner...subtlety does not cut it), it was a good movie and very moving...Watch it!

Summary: It's Tenchi, sorta
Review: The same old charaters we all love, but none of the action. This movie has some great drama, though. Can anyone suggest a better translation for Tenchi's "Big, warm, comforting hands"? ;-)

Summary: Hmmm, Not what I expected.
Review: Well, it WAS a Tenchi Movie... just not what I was expecting. Being a Tenchi Otaku, i say It could have been better. As for who Tenchi chooses, it could have been more indepth. Yes, the music was great.

Final Summary: Could have been MUCH better.

Summary: They blew it
Review: You know I'd love to say I liked this movie as it had quite a few good parts, but the sloppy handling of much of the movie left me feeling more mad then you could imagine. This so called "piece of art" is filled with holes and problems including an awful new character named Haruna. I'd rather see Sakuya return then to ever have seen this character grace the screen. She has no care for Tenchi as some indicate, all she cares about is herself. And here we had to go through another girl x relationship to get nothing at the end. Although Tenchi chooses, nothing is shown of it in the film and it'll leave you feel cheated. This would've been somewhat ok if it wasn't for what they showed us of the Haruna/Tenchi relationship. The soundtrack doesn't fit and the character design is all off in the artwork (although the backgrounds were quite nice). Overall, if this had been handed to a more compitent writer this would've been spectacular instead of the simply ok movie it is. While it was refreshing to get something new, the sloppy sloppy work on the movie does not make the end result good enough to justify anything of a high rating. I almost cry when I think of what could've been if the movie was handed to a better writer.
