Summary: Wow talk about dissapointing
Review: I have not seen the entire series (which actually makes this a better review), but I found this set of episodes absolute crap. This is not in comparison with other Anime but from what I have already seen of the series. You start off with a deep engrossing story. Angels seem friggan tough. Shinji is a confused kid whose father doesn't care about him, and Rei is a mysterious girl. But that is all lost now. All that is left is not funny scenes of Asuka and pathetic Angels that don't even represent a threat. Maybe the series will go back to something worth watching.

Summary: Neon Genesis Evolution
Review: I really don't know what to say other than this is one of the best series I have ever seen! Evangelion stands tall with classics like, "Robotech and Gunbusters". I have seen all 26 episodes and when I seen the collection 1 DVD in stores, I had to have it no questions asked! The plot is spellbinding and the action is something to write home to your buddies about that are still hooked on "Voltron", not to say that's bad. Evangelion is truly something amazing, just think it we really did have a underground city with 200ft humanoids running around fighting angels from who knows where? Huh! That's just what I thought too!!!

Summary: The whole series is wonderful!
Review: I was never a fan of anime until I saw this series.

15 years after a catastrophe that has killed half of the world population, invaders called "Angels" have arrived and begin attacking the people of Earth.

Earth's weapons are useless against the "Angels" . However, there is an exception: the "Evangelion". To operate the "Eva", it needs the minds of kids. A small group of children are selected to pilot the machines. In a series of bizarre events Shinji Ikari, the only son of the commander of the team that administered Evangelion, is selected and one of the children to pilot the one of the Eva's and save the world.

Summary: Excelentes Episodios

Summary: Brilliant Story
Review: I've read people complain about the quality of the DVD menues, etc. Don't let that stop you from purchasing this DVD. This story is wonderfully written, and the animation is superb. It is definately worth your tie even if you don't like this particular genre. The characters are very in depth and well written. I enjoyed this series thuroughly. I bet you would too.

Summary: probably the best anime tv series ever
Review: If you are a serious fan of anime you should make it your mission to get these series. Evangelion is a true masterpiece, filled with deep phylosophical questions counterpointed by great hillarity and spirit. There is only one reservation i have; this dvd contains only 3 episodes. This is very unexpected and totally out of "standard", set for anime on dvd. Since it would make no sense for ADV to put more episodes in the future releases. We can expect these series to take at least 8 dvd's not 7 as was originally expected, and definitely not 6. I am very dissapointed in ADV it is obvious they dont care about the fans. Although we already knew that. Of course if you are a fan and have cash it doesn't make that big of a difference. But if you are broke like me you might be better off exploring other options like, buying an import dvd box set.(all region coded of course.) Which obviously wont have an english dub but will have english subtitles.

Summary: The Angels Attack
Review: In these three episodes you get an angel battle every episode for one of the most action packed stretches of the series. As someone who watched the entire series the first time in vivo fomat, the dvd quality is supurb, and with the option to watch it dubbed, subtitled, or raw it's perfect for every anime fan. I have the first two collections as well, and in this third one ADV continues to put out a great series. I have collection 4 on preorder already. This entire series is a must see, and the last 6 episodes (20-26) will blow your mind, I can't wait for the rest of the collections to come out.

Summary: Another image quality improvement in this NGE DVD release
Review: My standard disclaimer applies. I am not reviewing the artistic merits of this release. I happen to like this series but that does not mean you will.

I am reviewing the technical merits of this release.

The image is relatively stable and clear. There are film flaws and telecine jumps apparent but these are not too distracting. The image quality is on a par with the second new Evangelion release from ADV and is, perhaps, better. The obvious decompression artifacts that plagued the first DVD in the series seem to be gone.

I attribute this to there being only three episodes on this disc -- it doesn't need to be as compressed as the previous releases. However, Pioneer has shown us with the Gundam Wing DVDs that five episodes can fit on a single layer disc with relatively good image quality. I'm not sure why ADVs compression house seems to have such a tough time getting it right on the Evangelion DVDs.

There are still some decompression issues and edge enhancement problems but these are usually not distracting.

The sound is fairly good in English and Japanese. All in all, if you like this series, I think you will like this DVD. It's fairly well produced. There's still room for improvement but it's watchable and enjoyable.

Summary: Three Exciting Episodes
Review: Neon Genesis Evangelion Collection 3 only contains three episodes (#9-#11), but these episodes have character development, thrills, and surprise - humor! I laughed out loud a couple of times during the last episode of this DVD. Not grim, as were the first two DVD's, Collection 0:3 is the DVD that finally got me to appreciate the simple yet unique animation and music of the series, and that got me to like the series enough to recommend it.

Three more Angels make their appearances. The outcome was truly uncertain in every episode, as the NERV personnel are truly challenged with the ingenuity of the Angels, which learn from each one's mistakes and evolve. Logically, the odds are eventually against NERV and the citizens of Tokyo 3. The angel in the second episode really took my breath away when it made its first appearance - or rather, was discovered.

The bellicose Azusa was annoying when first introduced in Collection 0:2. But here, I could really relate to her as she lashed out at Rei in episode 11, calling Rei an "egotistical b****." You can see she is not as brave as she appears to be. I look forward to learning more about this character.

Look out for the extras. The character profiles are more than informative - they hint so much they are almost spoilers.
