Rating: Summary: A review of the End of Evangelion Review: This has to be one of the best anime series I have ever watched. Though the last two episodes of the tv series were a bit confusing, but eventually I understood what was goin on. The Movie is a lot easier too understand, though the outcome in the end is different from the tv series. In the tv series shinji accepts contemplation, while in the movie he rejects it. Anyways buy or rent the series and the movies because this is what anime is like at its best!!!
Rating: Summary: Finally what it was all about! Review: This film will finally show you what 3rd Impact was supposed to do, why the clandestine committee wanted to bring it about, and some more details (some quite visceral) of what the Evas and Angels are/were. No, I'm not going to spoil it for you. If you were left with these questions burning in your mind after the end of the Neon Genesis: Evangelion series, they will be settled for you. And you can skip forward to learning them from this movie and miss watching Death and Rebirth without any significant loss (imho).
Rating: Summary: yowza Review: My friend showed me end of eva a couple years ago and my head exploded.
Rating: Summary: Rambling Review: For anyone that does not import anime, this is not the true ending on evangalion. there is a FULL series after the way it was ended for all you stateside viewers.Don't listen to this. I was spaced out when I wrote it.
Rating: Summary: A wasted buy Review: I purchased End of Eva, because i had anticipated it for over a year now. The last two tapes in the Eva series were confusing and hard to follow. Now they come out with Death and Rebirth (purchased a month earlier), and the End of Eva. These two releases in themselves are pointless. First off if you want to see the end i suggest you only buy the end and not death and rebirth. Death and rebirth consists of only a 30 minute confusing recap of what happened already, and a 30 minute teaser for the last movie. The End of evangelion consists of the same episode teaser they give you along with another short continuation on it. To be honest the action was great in the End, but still it was not worth buying it. They might as well of kept the original ending, because it made as much sense as this one did. My opinion is to buy it and see how you like it, but hold onto that recipt.
Rating: Summary: he did it again Review: The neon genesis evangelion series is probably the best anime series of all time , but it did leave many loose ends.To rectify that two movies were produced so that we would finally see how the series really ended.Although the movies do clear up a few things , they by no means represent the ending to eva that i imagined. In the end it is too depressing and Shinji has gotten a lot worse than the series. He now refuses to help Asuka when she is allmost eaten alive by those seele evas,he doesn't even try to save mankind ,instead he is its destroyer. He whimpers for most of the movie and is nothing like the Shinji we saw earlier in the series, for gods sake he is allmost suicidal!I still believe that the best movie is vampire hunter d bloodlust and this eva movie did little to change my mind.As i enjoyed the series so much i had to buy the movies , but they were too depressing for my taste. In the end it is up to anyone who buys it to formulate his own opinion. Now for the ratings: 1-The art is so special, some say gory ,some say it has profanity and nudity, but for those who know the show that is expected . It is the breakthrough visual that made NGE a classic and END pumps it full of steroids to keep you watching untill the end. 2-Asuka Langley Soryou is proven right about everything. She read through Rei Ayanami from the start , "Freekazoid" is the expression ,Shinji is a "Zero" who could be a hero if he starts even wanting to live (it would be a start). She does all the fighting and Shinji just walks in at the last minute and lets her die.The girl has reasons to feel wronged. 3-Eva fighting ,which is Asuka again, but a good thing since they simply added ten minutes that SHOULD have been in the first movie.Bone crushing, amputating, choking and all that mayhem and they CANNOT DIE,very cool. 4-Fifty thousand foot Rei and not the silly "doll" Gendo Ikari used to force Shinji to help him bring about the end of the world. She is not Yui's clone she is the angel of death and she does a damn good job at it. -1:The one star that got away in the last 18 minutes ,where everything got big, full of eye-balls.A huge red moon,Crosses, people melting, things turning into trees of life or whatever, giants fell apart very-very slowly and bled all over. The Adam and Eve concept which tried to give OPTIMISM when you know that all other life human life was extinct BECAUSE of Shinji Ikari. Closing a completist will buy all of the DVD's and make up their own minds.
Rating: Summary: DEFECTIVE PRODUCT Review: I love the movie *so far*, but DUE TO DISC DEFECTS, HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO WATCH THE LAST 20 MINUTES OF THE MOVIE. MANGA YOU HAVE TOTALLY DROPPED THE BALL ON THIS ONE. I have two stand-alone players that BOTH completely freeze at the layer change. I have returned the DVD 5 times. Every single disc does the exact same thing on both players (Sony DVP-S530D & Apex 1100W). Unacceptable. I'd have better luck with VCDs off Ebay. Unacceptable. Completely unacceptable. Unbelievable. This is probably the only important anime release that will ever pass through Manga, and thank goodness; they seriously f**ked up. I can't believe this foolish, utterly careless treatment the End of Evangelion. Blasphemy. All buyers beware.
Rating: Summary: The only answers are your own Review: I snatched up the "Neon Genesis Evangelion" series almost all at once, despite having little money at the time and fell in love with it immediately. The movies "Death and Rebirth" and "End of Evangelion" departed in much different direction than the original series in many ways. The animation is much crisper and cleaner than the series, as to be expected. The soundtrack is almost operatic at times, with very beautiful vocals. Everything seems almost an overwhelming improvement. Now, then, the story. Without giving anything away, which wouldn't help you at all, firstly, you MUST see the original series before viewing this. Or at least watch "Death and Rebirth", an abbreviated collection of the happenings in the series. This is not because you won't understand character motivation or anything trite like that, but more to the fact that even HAVING seen the story line will leave you scratching your head and saying "What the heck?" It starts off reminiscent of the later episodes, with several minutes of either silence or only very quiet speaking. For the first fifteen or twenty minutes, everything seems to be adrenaline pumped, but manageable. But about halfway through, or in episode 26'(the movie consists of two episodes, 25' and 26'. These are an alternate ending to the last two episodes in the series. Each is open to their own interpretation), everything is turned upside down. The revelations come so fast that it may leave some spinning. In fact, you're not MEANT to come away with a clear understanding. You have to uncover your own meaning behind the events. Don't fret, though. It doesn't read like a Dali painting or anything. It's fairly clear what's happening, but not WHY. A little background in Jewish and/or Christian mythologies is very helpful, since the whole series is based around these beliefs and symbolism. In the end though, "End of Evangelion" explores the characters more, answering a few questions as to Misato and Shinji's relationship as well as Gendo's and Rei's. It also helps to explain Asuka's sudden, dark mood swing near the end of the series. There is a clear-cut end to it all, which may leave you feeling any number of ways. In my heart of hearts, I wish there'd been a clear-cut end, with character relationships resolved and everyone happy. But such details are what make "Evangelion" unique. The characters are real, the plot is deep and unique, and the result is nothing short of breathtaking.
Rating: Summary: End of Evangelion? Man, I Hope So!! Review: I hope so, because I'd do not think I could take listening to Shingi snivel about his lot in life for another episode! All this [wimp] does is go around crying to everyone to help him, but when it's his turn to help, he's nowhere to be found. True, it does clear up a few of the loose ends from the original, but it creates more than it resolves. The animation is outstanding, with some very stirring visuals and the voice actors do their best to support this turkey. I had a bad feeling right from the start when a seemingly endless array of advertising from every company involved paraded across the screen. I was actually awaiting an ad for the catering company, it was about the only one that wasn't there! This movie had been long-awaited by many, myself included, and I believed that the new ending could not be worse than the original. I must painfully confess, I was wrong. It can get much worse. Look at it as it is, not what you wanted it to be(unless you wanted an adolescent sexual, murder movie with no plot-then by all means, this is for you.) ...
Rating: Summary: Do you like depression and confusion? Review: One of the best anime movies I've ever seen. The story line is so intricate and amazing that you get drawn into the lives of these people. In just the few days I've had it I've watched it over and over. Unfortunately these HIGHLY disfunctional characters get no less disfunctional and.... restraining from spoilers.. lol. If you are looking for a great movie with a great plot and that is truly unique, you have found it. A few notes though... -It is STRONGLY recommended to watch the series first. It is just too confusing to try to jump into the movie straight away. -Watch this movie with another person. You WILL need someone to talk to after this is over, believe me.
