Summary: If you haven't seen it, you're missing the best!
Review: "What do you mean *You haven't watched Slayers*?!!! DRAGON SLA--" Heh...kidding. Anyway, this is, in my opinion, the best anime series out there, if you like comedy. The silly group of wandering sorcerers(ess's), swordsmen, and princesses is insane. Zelgadis must be my favorite character by far: a stony skined chimera with an *Eeyore-like* additude "Don't mind me..." Lina, the food-crazy, young sorceress has quite an additude...pick a fight with her, and you'll end up dead for sure. Gourry is the sterotypical dumb blonde muscleman, who often helps the story along by asking about things when the watcher may not understand. Then there's the justice-obsessed Amelia: She enjoys standing on high places and proclaiming about justice...but don't let THAT annoy you...keep your annoyance for Xellos...the "Mysterious Priest" who enjoys teasing our characters...don't you just want to hit him over the head? I prefer dubbed *ducks as several heavy objects are thrown at her* but that just might be because I'm not used to the japanese versions...I was told they are better, and that the subtitles actually explain more, but I just don't like japanese voices...*shrugs* If you enjoy this one, be sure to watch Slayers Try as well...worth the time! ^_^

Summary: Funny, Moving, and Action packed!
Review: "Eternally Amazing beyond that which anyone could possibly comprehend" doesn't do this series justice. Although not nearly the plot that Fushigi Yuugi has, it is extremely funny, and anyone would be surprized by the twist about half way to two thirds the way through. Tons of laughter, and even some serious moments make this a well mixed anime series. You can NOT call yourself an anime lover without having seen The Slayers, The Slayers Next, and The Slayers Try.

Summary: Slayers, Original, Next and Try
Review: Among all three Slayer series I have seen, I like this one the best. The first season (Original) sets the tone for the story but is less "enjoyable in terms of character variaties and story structure. The Next series puts additional characters into it and disclose the world settings further. The story line moves more natural and gets to a climax which highlights the heroine's position.

The Try series is, however, a little experimental. You can see some less ordinary structures in terms of scenario writing (I guess). The drawback of Try is they put some out-of-the-record episodes into it and the ending (last 15 minutes) is too predictable.

Summary: Le Best
Review: As described by the bodyguards of Tarimu and Demia early in the series, the cast of this hillareous adventure includes "a smart-[butt] sorceress, an idiot swordsman, a crazy girl, and a heartless mystical swordsman." Slayers NEXT gives a very fantasy-based world with ironically real-world undertones. Like many of the greats in entertainment, the omnipotent gods of silliness bring actual, ethical issues in at the very end, emphasizing the dilemas one faces when choosing the lesser of two evils.

Summary: SUGOI!!! A must-see for any Japanese Anime fan!
Review: I absolutely LOVE this DVD set. Slayers is my absolute favorite series, and NEXT is definitely something one should not miss out on. There is plenty of bandit-stomping, treasure-looting, food-seeking and more from our band of (anti)heroes out to make some money!

This particular series centers around the search for the Claire Bible, which is said to have unlimited knowledge from ancient times. (Zelgadis, of course, has great reason to look for something like this, what with his Chimeric form...) Along the way, two new main characters are introduced: Martina (who only appears in NEXT) and Xelloss, the Trickster Priest...a mysterious figure with hidden goals (and my favorite of them all ^_^). I highly recommend the Japanese version subtitled in English, as Xelloss sounds absolutely HORRIBLE in the English dub version (Horrible may not even describe the extent of it), and can get you to find the character much more annoying and dislikable than he actually is. The DVD-ROM features are great...love those scripts and large picture gallery! The storyline develops quite nicely with a climatic ending, and even the filler episodes are very enjoyable.

Overall, I highly recommend viewing Slayers NEXT. I assure you, you WON'T be disappointed.

Summary: All Hail the King of Anime!
Review: I hated anime. Then I saw this. At first it seemed a plotless almost story of a sorceress who blows stuff up, a swordsman who is a neuron short of a synapse, a chimera who will do anything to look normal, and a wanna be heroine who cares more about style than ability. Then I realized that that was exactly what made it funny. After the first few episodes I was mesmorized. Would Halcyform die? Who killed Phil? The plot thickens immensly while being countered by a carefree cast. Beautiful!

Summary: This is great but the sound is kinda bad.
Review: I love Slayers!!! The story is great, the fighting is great, but i have one problem and that's the sound. For example their's a guy walking down a hall right while the foot steps sounds get their before the guy's feet touch the ground!!!! That's a bad thing people!!! And another thing is when Lina is talking her mouth this moving and she isn't talking!!!! But other than a few sound problems this's a fun box set.

Summary: My Favorite Anime...EVER.
Review: I've seen a LOT of anime, and no matter how much I watch, Slayers NEXT still is my favorite. Everything is wonderful; however, a zillion people have written about the good. I'm going to write about the few bits of Bad and Ugly in this otherwise wonderful release.

Worst Part 1: Video Transfer. Ye gods, could the vid transfer get much worse? I've never seen a worse transfer on an anime DVD! It looks like a relatively abused VHS. There's color bleed, lots of line noise, thank goodness there's no rainbows but that's about it that's done right. It's especially noticeable when you use a DVD-ROM drive to watch it.

Equally Worst Part: No chapter stops except at the beginning of an episode. Seriously, guys, could you have at LEAST put in a chapter stop at the eyecatches? We're not expecting Princess Mononoke or anything here but seriously, some decent chapter stops would have been nice.

Other Worst Part: The most strange dub cast ever. Some of the voices are surprisingly good, though not Cowboy Bebop quality. Others, on the other hand, are just horrendous. (Especially Xellos. Poor Xellos with that hack job voice.) The rest of the cast is completely mediocre. Fans of Pokemon might have a bit of a hard time with the dub at first, since Brock's voice actor is the voice actor of the male lead, Gourry. (Some sub fans might get annoyed at the way a few names are pronounced, too.) The best dub guy is for one of the boss villains, Gaav, whose dub voice I like just because of that cool evil laugh. Check that evil laugh out on the dub track; it's realy cool.

Another Bad Part: DVDs are not very Macintosh-friendly (or for that matter DVD-ROM friendly) at ALL. Some older DVD-playing Macs will not even recognize these as DVDs. On every DVD-ROM system I've seen it with, you have to for some reason click on the word "Next" on the main menu in order to use the menu options.

Don't let the bad parts stop you from buying this wonderful series. Slayers NEXT is so good that the completely mediocre job of making it into DVDs can be overlooked. Buy it now, and have a wonderful time!

Summary: The very best of the Slayers. A must-see!
Review: I've seen all three seasons of Slayers (Slayers, Slayers NEXT, and Slayers TRY). And in my opinion, NEXT is easily the best. TRY was a lot more serious (with the exception of a few REALY bizarre episodes). And Slayers was a lot sillier. NEXT blends the sillyness and seriousness excellently.

Everyone's favorite characters return with better powers, cool outfits, and hilarious situations. The introduction of Xellos and Martina (along with many others) makes this season, by far, one of the best seasons of any anime ever released.

Also recommended: Ah! My Goddess, Cowboy Bebop, DNA2, Full Metal Panic, Fushigi Yuugi, His And Her Circumstances, I My Me! Strawberry Eggs, Inu Yasha, Love Hina, Outlaw Star, Please Teacher, Ranma 1/2, Rurouni Kenshin, Trigun, Yu Yu Hakusho
