Summary: One of the great animes of all time
Review: "Last Exile" has quickly become one of the great anime films. It has all the elements needed for great story telling: action, suspense, comedy, high points of triumph and low points of defeat. The characters are more like real individuals, instead of the typical anime characters. They each entice your interest in their background, emotions and secrets. The biggest question is: what deep dark secret is Alvis harboring in her simple child mind? All three DVDs of "Last Exile" are masterpieces of the anime art form. Music, artwork and story line are wonderful woven together into a mosaic.

If you are new to anime, I suggest you start with "Last Exile". There is no better example of the art form available.

Summary: Stunning, building tension beautifully.
Review: As with the previus volumes, the animation is beautiful. But what of the story? Well, here it takes a decidedly sharp turn towards the main storyline, which was alluded to before but never fully touched. We begin to see a bit more of the importance of the little girl known as Al. But more importantly, the character interactions continue, just as interesting as before. This third volume is very action packed, but also punctuated by a few quiet moments.
Basically, if you enjoyed the first two volumes, you will not be disappointed with this, volume 3. In fact, it's my favorite of the ones released so far!

Summary: Sophisticated Yet Innocent
Review: Last Exile is one of the most beautiful anime ever made. Every detail, from charicter design to the look of the ships, to the very construction of the world, has a retro-futurist look. To use plain english, its how the future would have looked if it was designed in the Roaring '20s.

A bit of background: The world is comprised of warring nations, each compeating under strict rules laid out by a seemingly omnipotent Guild. Stuck in the middle of this are two youths, working as air couriers to fund their racing ambitions. Before they know it, they are swept up in events beyond their control...

Sound familiar? It should. Last Exile employs a variety of standard anime tropes. There is the dark, silent comander, the plucky female side kick, strange power sources, even the 'child with strange powers'. What makes Last Exile so fascinating is that you do not care about how cliche it seems. You want to know what happened next. You demand to know! You can't get enough of the beautiful visuals, the excelent (Nipponese) voice acting, everything.

So do I recomend this DVD? Absolutely.

Review: There are 4 episodes on last exile volume 3. Calculate Alex, Swindle, Develop, and Discovered Attack.

On the episode 9, Claus and Lavie participate in an 8 hour endurance race against Dio and Luciola. Tatiana and Alister are also participating, but only because they are on a mission. While the race is taking place, Alex Row is at an auction bidding on the gateway to exile against Delphine, Dio's older sister.

Episode 10, continues with Alex losing exile to Delphine, and being pointed with a gun by Duke Knowles. Alis releases the bomb, which makes the lights go out. Claus and Lavie win the 8 hour race, and Alex escapes from Knowles. Alex later meets up with a man who tells him a mysterion. "What lies within the furthest reaches of one's memory?" After winning the race, Lavie tells Claus that she dosen't want to fly in a fighter vanship and says she'll be his mechanic instead. With the lights out and low on fuel, Claus and Lavie are unable to return to the Silvana. Dio gives them a favor and pulls them back to the Silvana where he stays, wanting to join their victory party.

Episode 11, Dio and Luciola are allowed to stay on the Silvana with the Captain's permission. Alex also recieves his 3rd Mysterion from Dio. "What lies deep within the furthest reaches of the skies?" The emperor of Anatory wants the cargo, Alvis, to be transported to Vincent Alzoy, captain of the Urbanus. The emperor also beleives his daughter, Sophia, is acting against him. Vincent calls for a meeting with Alex and Claus acts as scorting pilot with Alis as his navi. Vincent asks Alex to transport Alvis to the Urbanus and to tell him the Mysterion he learned at the auction. Alex refuses and the Silvana and Urbanus engage in battle. While Alex is meeting with Vincent, Dio has told his mysterion to Alvis. Suddenly Alvis turns white and the claudia unit on the Silvana begins to rise rapidly.

Episode 12, the Silvana is engaged in battle against the Urbanus. Tatiana makes Claus her navi and sets out into battle against the Urbanus. There are 5 Urbanus class ships, and 4 of them are destroyed by the Silvana. During the battle, Tatiana and Claus are hit and unable to recover. Claus suddenly realizes that the Silvana is sinking. this is 3rd volume of last exile is a must-buy. there are better graphics and ship to ship combat!!!there is also more humor in the story now and viewers begin to learn more on the meaning of exile and why Alvis is so important.
