Except from a short black blank frame in one episode (it's noticable, but who cares). I didn't encounter any missing special effects or reversed sequences as in the first box set.SOUND QUALITY: THIS IS BLASTER BLASTING AT YA!!! This is what the first season's box set should had been. Dolby Digital 5.1 remix with *wisely* added sound effects and a 2.0 Stereo track with the *pure* original audio track. EXTRA MATERIAL: The first box set from season 1 had much more specials on it. I always wondered why they added material from the 2nd and 3rd season in the first box set... Good reasons why you should buy THIS DVD: - THE cartoon series of the 80s - Video transfer from original 35mm film instead of broadcast masters (1st Box Set) - Dolby Digital 5.1 remix plus original Stereo track without additonal sound effects A am a huge fan of Transformers. My life wouldn't be the same without The Transformers... This is a 99 % flawless Box Set of the Transformers Season 2 episodes! BUY - BUY - BUY - BUY - BUY
Rating: Summary: Oh...Yeah Review: All right you can not go wrong with this seat. It's awsome just the way that 80's children rember the series. A must buy for fans.
Rating: Summary: Oh Constucticons, where were you built? Review: What can I say? I really love this box set. I do remember most of season 2 very fondly. In some ways I like this set better than the season 1 set, especially the funky theme song and in my opinion the best opening sequence of the entire series. There are some problems, the color doesn't look as sharp as in season 1. I think they spent more time making season 1 look fresh and new. Season 2 while nice, does look dirty at times. Overall I enjoyed seeing these episodes again, but I know that Season 2 Part 2 is the season I really loved the most. In Season 2 Part 2 there are two crazy episodes with Tracks, plus the combiners like the Aerial Bots, Stunicons, and Combaticons are introduced. Not to mention crazy far out stories that tend to take place farther and farther away from Earth.
Rating: Summary: A must own, but not perfect Review: The second season of the Transformers had some of the most memorable episodes, for me anyway. Unfortunately most of my favorites from the 2nd season like Cosmic Rust, the history of Omega Supreme or any episodes with the Stunticons, Combaticons and Aerialbots are NOT in this volume. That's not to say there aren't good ones here, because there's just so many episodes on these 4 discs you are bound to find a few classics. The extras are rather lacking. Where are the classic commercials? Or how about a slide show of the boxes of all the toys released during the 2nd season? Or explain and possibly show how they made some of the great robot-esque voices like Soundwave and Shrapnel? There is a Botcon 2002 section, which is ok, but the interviews drag on way too long and I found them to be extremely boring. There just aren't enough Generation One references as I hoped. I like the mistake reels, but I think they could've pointed so many more errors; it was way too short. Also a note on the quality of the DVD. Most of the episodes have this "dithered" effect. I'm not really an expert on restoration or DVD making so maybe that was the best quality they could get it but there is noticable dust spots quite often and everything has this dotted look to it. Hard to explain until you see it, but still years better than any VHS. The menu's are petty nice, with a 3-D rendered Optimus Prime and a very cool transforming sequence. It would've been even better if each disc had a different transformer to present the menus. Overall this is defintely a must own. Finally time to throw away those junky VHS's from 1985. I can't wait for the 2nd season Part 2, and hopefully top it off with Season 3. It's great watching every episode and bringing back such memories from years ago. Commercial Free.
Rating: Summary: The second season part 1 set is a winner!! Review: I was reasonably happy with the Transformers first season's box set but was concerned about the re-colouring job that Rhino had done to the cells. The colours were bright but I would like a dollar every time that Thundercracker was painted like Starscream. I was therefore somewhat hesitant that they would also do this to Season 2 Part 1. Realising that the animation would be better this time around, the series was a year older anyway, I took the plunge. Season 2 Part 1 is terrific. The colours aren't as bright as Season 1, maybe Rhino haven't touched them up too much, but atleast there aren't as many mistakes either although the print seems a little scratchy at times. The animation is much better than season one except for some of the work done in The Autobot Run. In my mind season 2 episodes are much more memorable and better written than season one. Many new characters were introduced during season two with quite a few making appearances on the third and fourth discs. It's great to see Devastator/Constructicons and the Dinobots on a regular basis as well as newer Autobot charcters such as Grapple, Hoist, Tracks, Beachcomber, Warpath, Red Alert, Inferno, Cosmos, Smokescreen, Perceptor and Warpath. Omega Supreme and Blaster make late appearances. New decepticon characters that turn up include Ramjet, Dirge, Thrust, Blitzwing, Astrotrain, Frenzy and Buzzsaw. All time classic characters such as Ironhide, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Starscream, Brawn and Ratchet are given a good run which is terrific. It's great to see more of Skyfire and Shockwave as well (& Swoop is very cool). The extras: A lengthy Botcon doco. This stuff doesn't interest me too much as the sight of stacks of boxed Transformers toys usually gets me frustrated that I didn't have a job when I was 12. The Simon Furman interview was ok, he is a comic great. His work on the UK Transformers comic was excellent. There are three interviews, 2 with voice actors and one with a G1 script writer. All are reasonably interesting. I wish they had included toy commercials on this set like they apparently did with the UK Season 1 box set. Even scans of old toy box art work and catalogues would be cool. It would be really great in the future if fans could vote on what extras they would like to see as well. The mistakes reel on the extra's disc is a waste of space. The promise of things to come with Season 1 part 2 should excite all fans. Bruticus, more Omega Supreme, the Aerialbots, Menasor, etc will be great to see again. Can't wait!!
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: This DVD is the best yet. This one is just as good as the first one. We get to see the WTC Towers in vol. 1 DVD and VHS. Just as awesome as first season.
Rating: Summary: More than meets the eye. Review: This Transformers Season 2 Part 1 Box DVD set is phenomenal. You get 24 episodes from season 2 in 4 DVDs. You also get two collectible animation cells like with the Season 1 DVD Box Set, as well as extra content. If you buy the seperate Season 2 DVD's you will not get the extra stuff, so I highly recommend you get the box set, plus, it looks much cooler too. This set is a gem for the old transformer fan, those that grew up with these cartoons (Transformers, He-Man, GI Joe, Thundercats). This set is great and has 8 more episodes than the Season 1 set because Season 2 has about three times the number of episodes as Seasin 1. Well what are you waiting for? This is a purchase you will be more than happy with.
Rating: Summary: Good old times are back but... Review: Rhino did it again with this next Season 2 of Transformers G1 first half..Though it's good to see those old cartoons been restored well enough but there's still some errors that i take note of by comparing these episodes with my original tapes..Just check out for yourself if you a die-hard fan of TFs. One of the mistakes was there are 2 Optimus Primes in "Atlantis Arise"..It's good that Rhino hadn't made that extra horrible sound effects..what's next then??? Anyway, i still give this a 5 stars for it's picture and sound quality..
Rating: Summary: If only you understood. Review: Do you even know what you are writing a review for? It has become increasingly apparent you do not. For it to be factual review, there are two important factors that must be acknowledged. 1. You must write a review about the actual product and presentation. 2. The item you choose to review must be publicly released. I know how much you love TransFormers season 2; hell, even I am a fan of this show. However, that is not the sole target of your review. What you are _supposed_ to be reviewing is this _version_ of TF:S2. The best comparable example I could give would be seperating SNES Mortal Kombat 2 and Genesis Mortal Kombat 2. Saying how wonderful the graphics of MK2 (presumably the arcade) are in the Genesis review would be foolish and deceitful. Furthermore how would anyone know what you were talking about? You could mean the GameBoy version for crying out loud. All we know is that you like MK2. Big help. Which brings up the next point. Not only are you reviewing a generic idea (the show in general), but you are also projecting that seal of approval onto a product you have not even seen. Do you even remember how badly Rhino _butchered_ the 1st DVD set? How do you know it won't happen again? Rhino very well _could_ release PowerPuff Girls episodes on this set, and get away with it (and shining reviews no less) becuase fools like you reviewed it (well, the idea behind the set anyhow) ahead of time. So, in conclusion: TransFormers Season 2 was an incredible feat. Some of the best aniamtion of the 1980s IMO. What Rhino does with it, on the other hand, is YET TO BE SEEN. I'm not holding my breath.
