Rating: Summary: A rare treat! Review: This is one great box set chop full of extras. I would suggest selling your VHS tapes and buying this.
Rating: Summary: The best Tenchi Muyo DVD set you can buy... Review: This is without a doubt the best DVD set i've ever bought. This has got it all...the first 15 episodes of the original Tenchi Muyo OVA series. The first 2 DVDs are great in either language. The third dvd is the Tenchi Encyclopedia..which washu oversees. This is worth it alone. Learn funny tidbits like, "Tenchi Muyo means: Don't make this upside down." :) If you like anime in any form, you must buy this box set! Tenchi is the best!
Rating: Summary: Very Good Review: If you like anime, any kind, Tenchi Muyo is a story you'll definitely enjoy. The characters are varied, three dimensional, and interesting. The show is always very funny, with the characters always doing something goofy, mean, subtle, or just really stupid. If at one scene in this show doesn't get a laugh out of you, you're probably dead. Likewise, if it doesn't tug at your heart strings a little, you're probably a very bitter person. Ryoko's gentle lusty on the outside, loving on the inside feelings for Tenchi, and Aeka's carefully hidden almost-love-except-she's-too-shy feelings for Tenchi, matched with Tenchi's nice guy indecision, makes for what is essentially a teen romance, without the angst. This is punctuated by humor and action, which always comes smoothly into the story and develops the character without missing a beat. It's tied together with a theme focused on the slow growth of the characters into a family, and the urgency on Tenchi to be a hero. All in all, what's in the show is nothing less than perfect. My only gripe is that it was never finished, since the story developed all through the second disc is in no way, shape, or form resolved (that's very sad.) But despite that, this set is worth it for anyone who likes anime, and even those who just like a good story with good characters. About disc three...I couldn't get it to work. I couldn't access the encyclopedia at all. I don't know, I'm probably just doing it wrong. But I hear it's really good!
Rating: Summary: The Best Manga Series for a long time Review: I bought this OVA box set without ever watching the Tenchi Muyo series. I've watched most of the mainstream manga, such as Akira, Ghost, and Freeman, but this series betters all others in many ways. The quality of the sound and picture are excellent, it's the best quality manga I have seen thus far. The story, following classic lines is also excellent, with a wide variety of characters and an evolving story line. I recommend this to any manga fan, don't let the fact that this title is maybe a little less known then others put you off, this is by far the best manga available. Since purchasing the OVA, I have also collected the Tenchi in Tokyo series, and will soon collect the Tenchi Universe series. If you only buy one manga DVD this year, make it this one. If six stars were available this title would get it! Hit that button, Buy it NOW!
Rating: Summary: An hilarious cast of characters Review: You can either feel envious or pity for Tenchi Masaki. Envious, because Tenchi is surrounded by five beautiful women every hour of every day. Or pity, because most of the trouble that Tenchi faces is usually the result of one or all of these girls. But then again, if they didn't get up to the antics that they do, this series wouldn't be as funny as it is. First off, we have Ryoko, a resurrected demon with a knack for rash and mischevous behaviour, with a very soft centre for Tenchi, which often results in her and Ayeka going at it hammer and tong. A juraian princess, Ayeka, who is prim, proper, and lady like. That is until Ryoko gets her hackles up when concerning her feelings for Tenchi. Ayeka's younger sister, Sasaami, whose seems to be the only normal one of the bunch(not if you know her little secret), who is always in the companionship of a creature that appears to be a cross between a cat and a rabbit, named Ryo-ohkie. Ryo-Ohkie has a real taste for carrots(that's an understatement), and can he ever fly(you'll just have to watch to find out). Next is a ditsy galaxy police detective named Mihoshi, who would never get a job as an airline pilot. And last but not least(little actually), Washu, a mad scientist with the most brains, but just as much eccentricities as the rest. There are other assorted characters which contribute to the action(such as Kagato and Dr. Clay) and to the humour(Ayeka and Sasaami's mother in the final episode is just classic). Tenchi is just a quiet school kid, whose life would be pretty boring (as would the show) if they weren't in it. An hilarious, slap stick adventure series. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST Anime series ever. Review: A classic among classics, the original Tenchi series in all its glory. You'll laugh until it hurts. These characters are SO well developed. I hope that some US television writers would watch this series to see how great Television can be. The only time I was upset was at the end of the last episode... I didn't want it to ever end!
Rating: Summary: Tenchi is Timeless Review: The series has now been totally completed and there does not look like there will be any more tenchi movies out there can you really afford to let this little piece of Anime history to slip through your fingers? This is the series that started it all other serieses are based on this one it sets the standard it is a bummer that the OVA will probably never be finished as the others were, this has more than the average anime series it has the action and drama you would expect from anime but it also has a sense of humor that keeps you on the edge of your seat and begging for more not to mention Ryo Ohki could school any pokemon on the market! Just do IT!
Rating: Summary: Tenchi Muyo Review: Man, this is one of the first anime's I had seen. I am quite glad for that. The animation and character designs are superb, not to mention the ever-changing and intricate plot line.
Rating: Summary: Tenchi is Genuis Review: All the tenchi movies/ova/tv series are great! Tenchi is what first got me hooked on anime, and what kept me there. It is great for any first timers to anime, and is also wonderful for any experienced anime watchers, though I would assume that they have already seen or at least heard of Tenchi already! If you want to spend your money in a *wise* way, BUY THIS DVD BOXED SET TODAY!
Rating: Summary: Perfect Anime Review: I never heard of Tenchi Muyo when I bought the set. Everyone said it was great, and they're right. It has a perfect mixture of action and humor with a great storyline. What really surprised me the most was the high quality of the animation, video, and audio of the DVD. It's nearly flawless. I wish there were more Tenchi box sets on DVD.
