Rating: Summary: Good, but don't buy this. Wait for the uncut. Review: Other than the fact that this anime was censored in numerous places, Kite's pretty enjoyable. You have your assassins with messed up pasts, sweet over-the-top gunfights, and bloody messes. And, to set this anime apart from others, you have exploding bullets, vehicles that fall through numerous floors, many cats, an exploding basketball, and the best part, the ridiculously long (and messy) public restroom gunfight. Would you expect all of this mayhem to be accompanied with a soundtrack done entirely with a peppy saxophone? Well, that's what it is, and it just doesn't fit. This anime is cut in many places and the dialogue is edited a bit to cover the missing scenes up. A director's cut version is available in Europe, so buy it if it ever comes here.

Rating: Summary: Very Deep and Entertaining Review: This is not kiddie stuff at all. The story centers around a girl "recruited" by a secret organization to assasinate criminals who escape from the flawed criminal justice system. Trouble ensues when the girl falls for another killer and begins to question her career choice. It's bloody, violent and great! The animation is very good, the characters are well developed and the pacing of the story line is just great.
Rating: Summary: Alot of versions out there.....doesnt matter!! Review: Ok, there's about 3 different US versions out there and 2 japanese version as well. Interesting enough the 2 part OVA series in japan contains rape scenes and objectional scenes of Sowa as a little (7-12yrs old) girl being seduced by Mr. Akai. So this series is not for the light hearted, considering theres alot of un-remorseful violence and other objectional material. In light of all this the DVD version and a VHS version (brought to the US by a company called MediaBlaster) have cut out a lot of stuff, mainly the acts of rape and the little girl scenes. There is one US VHS version by Kittymedia (mediablaster's dirty subsidiary) that releases a version that contains everything except the little girlie scenes(due to the US's child porn laws). Anyhow, some people say this distracts from the creators original intent to build up the characters. Thats a big load of whatever, this "Movie/Series" is only 45 minutes and moves at the speed of light. Character development is a consideration if this thing would of been 2 hours long, but the fact remains you know enough about the characters to just understand how they feel and what the movies about. Basically this movie has no filler what-so-ever. Its just a killer movie(literally) thats fun to watch and enjoy. Oh yeah, the ending is very very unique. So don't waste your time finding the right unedited version, I own both the edited DVD and the Kittymedia VHS version, the rape scenes are distracting and so out of place that it actually pulls attention from the awesome action sequences in this movie. If you want a porno, get a porno, if you want one heck of a cool anime, get Kite on DVD.
Rating: Summary: A flawed but mesmerizing piece Review: "Kite" is neither a masterpiece nor a failure, but an ambitious and ultimately flawed movie. The pacing, attacked by many, was in fact one of the most innovative and memorable aspects of the film. The dialogue in the dubbed version, while pretty good, is too self-consciously gritty to serve the piece well, and the voice acting is not the best by any stretch of the imagination; like Evangelion, I recommend seeing it subtitled to catch the full nuances of the speech. One thing that is absolutely important to remember: in promotional material Sawa's mentor is described as a detective sick of the criminal justice system, which is a lie. This is a decent film; I recommend the subtitled version, of course. A flawed piece, but I still recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Big guns, big plot, but not uncut...! Review: Lets get straight to the stuff that youre looking for. This DVD has clear, fast, high rate animation. The action is top notch. Character developement is par due to the short length of the feature (45minutes). Conclude this, one of the best animes visually, but the plot left you wanting more character involvement. This 45 minute movie is very good but could have been better. The US version of KITE DVD is not uncut. If it were to be uncut, you would see Sawa(main character who is the girl on the front cover)in acts of rape, sex, and nude scenes. If the uncut version was released for DVD, this would be a new style of anime animation and plot driven story telling.
Rating: Summary: Daring and well written anime. Review: While it does have a small number of problems, this is one of my favorite anime discs of all time. If you prefer giant robots or lighthearted, kawaii humor, this DVD is probably not for you. The film is at times, insanely violent, but the violence seems so disturbing to many largely because of the cold, realistic edge to it. The young assassins are cold and emotionless, and the killings have no 'flair' as typicaly seen in anime. As someone highly trained in forensic pathology, I admit that the high tech weapons seemed a little out of place and made me roll my eyes a couple of times, but the realistic methods used in the attacks, as well as the dirty and non-glamorous results from every kick or gunshot more than made up for this. My other major gripe about this film is that (as is typical) the translators for the American release of this film tried to take some of the edge off of the sexual scenes by making a few clumsy references suggesting that the main character was a college student, despite the fact that she was clearly a young teen of maybe 14 or 15 at the oldest. The relationship between the young girl and her patron was supposed to be disturbing, and made for excellent character development. On a final note, this film was a little short, at only 45 minutes, but the DVD extras were plentiful and of good quality, making this modestly priced (for anime) disc a good value all the same.
Rating: Summary: Very violent! Review: This is one extremely violent anime loaded with lots of action. Some people think that this one is no good, but I think it is awesome. I'm one who likes mindless action. That is pretty much what most of the movie is. All of the action in this anime is truly awesome. There is a small amount of character development. You will find out enough about the main character to actually care about her. This is mainly about A girl ( Her name is Sawa) who's parents got murdered when she was young. Someone then comes along and trains her to be a cold blooded assassin. I must admit I was pretty shocked by how violent it was. If you can tolerate the violence in this I highly reccomend it.
Rating: Summary: A very nice OVA with a somewhat familiar story Review: If you know la Femme Nikita, you kind of know this story. In this case, it's a young girl whose parents are murdered. The investigating detective takes her under his wing and uses her as an instrument of vengence against the criminal element. That's it in a nutshell, but the detective is no nice guy. The story takes an implausible turn a little later on with the relationship between her and the detective, but other than that it's a great OVA with a sad ending. It's pretty bloody too, so don't watch it if yo have a weak stomach.
