Rating: Summary: Intriguing story...yet feels rushed Review: When I first watched this movie I was new to the anime scene. I had great expectations but was beginning to get discouraged by anticlimactic endings. I am sorry to say that this was one of those movies that added to that. Kite starts off great with action and some forshadowing, I was really getting into the story. Yet it almost seemed as if right where the story should have introduced some character development, confusion and more action was put in its place. Though, this movie has its downfalls, take the time to check it out at least for the nice animation and interesting fight scenes. Kite is worth borrowing from a friend or renting but I wouldn't suggest buying it yourself.
Rating: Summary: Get this do not even bother with the uncut version... Review: Yeah I saw this dvd and loved it, when i found out that there was an uncut version i went and got it... bad move... the only thing they took out were 15 minutes of horrible sex scenes... i feel dirty just owning it, but one of the sex scenes makes the movie more complete. I don't understand henti, so those scenes do nothing for me... if you want to see a great anime get the cut version, if someone you know has the uncut version, laugh at them and borrow it to see the head thats flys after an explosion and about 3 minutes of footage that should be in the movie, the rest can stop being wrong. Get the US cut version.
Rating: Summary: Very Nice! Review: The storyline and animation are very nice, I'm into agnst, so the ending was perfect, I don't understand why anyone could be confused by it, if you're squeamish you might be a little turned off by the violence, but I was fine with it. If you're someone looking for either action, or an thoughtful anime you'll be thinking about a while after, "Kite" is definitley for you! The only thing is, it was much too short, and you don't understand the characthers as much as you should.
Rating: Summary: It Take More Than Pretty Girls to Make Good Anime Review: This anime was billed as being like a cross of La Femme Nakita and The Professional. I suppose, in a very loose sense, it is. While the artwork is top notch, the story is devoid of any real emotion, the action scenes border on the ridiculous for an anime that's supposed to be "realistic", and there are no real efforts to make the characters appealing in any way or form. Do yourself a favor, skip this title. This is not worth the effort. If not for the artwork, it would have no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
Rating: Summary: THIS IS A GOOD ANIME IF U UNDERSTAND IT! Review: I'm so tired of hearing bad things about this anime, like bad character developement, bad story, too violent, hentai, whatever. This story is really not as straiforward as it seems, why else would the ending be so confusing to some. In my opinion there is also a lot of character devepement. Sawa was young and terrified when her parents were killed. The detective guy raped her at this time when she was most vulnerable and took her in. We know he then trained her to be a killer but I believe the anime does a wonderful job explaining how she succumbed to it. It actually reminds me of that old South Park episode where the volcano erupted while Stan's uncle Jim was taking the kids hunting. When it was Stan's turn to shoot, he aimed at the rabbit and then was like, "I don't want to kill the bunny" and it escaped and everyone got angry. At the end he finally ends up killing something for the sake of being accepted even though it was against his nature. Sawa is the same. Her face is always sad and she doen't like what she is doing. She's young and impressionable and doesn't have the mental strenth and confidence to get away. This is why I find the story so touching. It's really very sad. Oh yeah and about the violence, Maybe it is a little excessive but I thought the fight seens were absolutely awesome. I mean, a lot of anime is violent with teh whole neon pink blood thing happening so what's the problem? The sex though is a bit extreme. In a way, it better explains Sawa's situation and how she came to be tied to that detective guy. She doesn't have the strength to fight it (mentally that is since it is sooo obvious she's a great assasin). If u're that offended by graphic sex (there is a lot) then just watch the edited version. I didn't think it was all that bad. Actually the sex was almost what probably what made so many women not like the movie so the edited version is better for us females. Guys i'm sure don't mind so PLEASE see this movie with an open mind and actually listen to everything they say. THIS IS A GOOD MOVIE!!
Rating: Summary: good, but too short Review: I first got this DVD before i realized that they now have a director's cut version of it in which they don't edit anything out of it. So instead of just getting the regular Kite i suggest you get the director's cut. It's about a girl named Sawa who works as a vigilante for a man named Akai. Akai and his friend gruesomely murdered Sawa's parents like 6 years ago or something. It's a bit confusing becuause it doesn't make sense why Sawa doesn't just stop working for Akai. I don't know, maybe the director's cut explains it. This movie is incredibly violent and gory but maybe not as gory as Ninja Scroll. One of the only things i didn't like about Kite was the length. It's only 45 minutes long. But overall it's still an excellent movie and because of the length is good for a quick anime fix when you need one.
Rating: Summary: Oh My.....World! Review: I watched this anime twice just to see everything I missed when I covered my eyes the first time I watched it.This anime wasn't something "as big" as I thought it would be.People says it's violent, gory, lots of gratuitous sex scenes, etc, but I actually thought it was important for the development of the story. This girl is summited to all kind of stuff(Killing, sexual pleasure)and it kind of describes us themes that we're seeing today like prostitution, child abuses,crimes....Although I thought some of the sex scenes were unecessary people who enjoy this will be just fine watching it.I liked the animation in this film. It's smooth and backgrounds are detailed. The plot is very simple(you'll understand what's happining as soon as you teke your hands off your face ^^)Not for all viewers, this anime isn't as bad as some reviewers before me said, just because it was a short movie. If you watch it you'll notice the plot develops so fast that it's obvious the movie's going to be short.Just skip some of the sex scenes if you don't feel like watching it.Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Kite: Director's Cut Review: "Kite: Director's Cut" is an emotionless anime....or maybe that's the way the director intended it to be. I read the reviews of the other version, and how violent this anime is....so I decided to check it out. I wasn't THAT impressed. This is not to say that I didn't enjoy it; I just wish it could have been a bit longer. As far as the violence; "Fist Of The North Star" was FAR more violent!! The storyline goes as this: Sawa, a college student, is an assassin...Le Femme Nikita-style. Her parents were killed, and she was adopted by Mr. Akai, who's a police investigator. Sawa is actually trained by Mr. Akai to whip out the scums who have slipped through the system. This is basically the plot in a nutshell. I don't wanna give anything away for those who haven't seen it yet. I actually recommend renting this or borrowing it from a friend before purchasing it.
Rating: Summary: Kite:Strikes once again! Review: After watching this new version of Kite my first impression toward it was of admiration and atonishment.I saw the heavy edited version and it was an strong anime but too short. This LESS EDITED version of Kite is absolutedly different and even though it's for a more mature audience only it doesn't mean it's an anime that doesn't deserves to be recognize.People should know that this new DVD is still edited due to some graphic ..scenes involving child ponography. Some scenes are still missing but it doesn't make a big difference.Adding more scenes to the movie helped us understand more from it,the control Akai had over Sawa.Even though it's more like a "Hentai" anime and the violence is overused Kite managed to get the attention of fans once again. It's an anime with a beautiful and smooth animation and character desings. The story does develops very fast which makes it interesting to watch. The violence scenes are a little strong and bloody, not many people will feel very confortable watching it.The voices(Although I prefer watching the Japanese version)are cool. The actors did made a good job here. Some viewersI repeat, might not feel very confortable watching this anime even if you watched the edited version this one is twice strong.
