Rating: Summary: Only for less-picky Street Fighter Fans Review: There are three reasons to view this anime (and possibly own it): 1) you are an avid fan of the Street Fighter videogames and want to see some well-animated anime versions of the fighting 2) you enjoy only anime that has lots of action but is limp in story, plot, and everything else that should be expected of a good feature 3) you unfortunately feel the need to see Chun Li in her oft-exposed animated underwearI bought this movie because I'm a bit of a Street Fighter fan (keeping and often playing the Dreamcast Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Street Fighter 3 series in my videogame collection; played then-new Street Fighter II arcade when in college); but I must fairly criticize it because I'm not a prejudiced fan. This American version DVD is like a big old American muscle car, a simply silly, nonsensical machine by current standards but one which packs a serious punch when the loud pedal is pressed. This movie has a disorganized, sub-amateur storyline; excessively forced and lengthy dramatic character exposition; and even in some areas subpar animation. But it does excel when the fighting happens (unfortunately between stretches of awful, token character development). Highlights are few but notable, such as Ryu v. Sagat, Chun-Li v. Vega, Fei Long v. Ryu. It is for occassional views of these sequences that I keep this movie on hand. But when I look at my DVD collection (Bugsy, LA Confidential, Perfect Blue, Ghost in the Shell, errr Street Fighter II), this one is always close to a trade.
Rating: Summary: Great anime! Review: Street Fighter II - The Animated Movie is amazing. It's without-a-doubt the best anime I've seen. I'm a devoted Street Fighter fan and truely enjoyed seeing a story-line and characterizations fit to serve Street Fighter. The only drawback was the lack of DVD features. Wait, maybe I should rephrase that...There are no DVD features. The DVD has no menu and begins like a VHS would. The only feature it has is that it allows you to skip scenes. I have not seen the Japanese version but from what I hear, this edition is an edited version of that one. I still believe this is a good buy.
Rating: Summary: street fighter II the animated movie Review: I saw this movie an tv one early summer movie and it actually brought a tear to my eye. it was a great movie and i am a major(not bison)fan. i was afraid i would never see it again until i saw it here. as soon as i have some extra $ i am going to by it (but firt i am going to by street fighter alpha 3 and then maybe marvel vs capcom)if any one knows were i can find a jap. version please Email me at Pdnlegs@aol.com becouse i want to see the infamous shower seen i would also like to know how i could get the other ten movies the only reason it did not get five stars is that it is cut (the shower seen) worlds biggest SFII fan PDN Legs
Rating: Summary: IMPORTANT INFO Review: I would normally give this film 4/5 but this is a very poor DVD presentation. First of all, there are no special features. There's not even a menu screen or scene selection. I'm not kidding, the film just automatically plays. Second of all, Chun Li's shower scene is shortened. So this DVD is NOT uncut. But that aside, it is a top quality anime and almost as good as Fatal Fury. Buy this if you can find it at a low price. The DVD is in Dolby Stereo and is letterboxed at 1.85:1.
Rating: Summary: This is **not** the version you should buy. Review: Do *not* waste your money on the americanized version of this movie. I saw the original version, then with english sub-titles, and then the american version, and the second one is definitely the one to get. Unfortunately I haven't found anyone on the net that sells the original Japanese version with subtitles. *However*, if you just want the original and can sit through the japanese without subtitles, then you can purchase that here ( http://store.yahoo.com/animenation/svwb-7041.html ). The american version destroyed the beautiful score, the spiritual aspects, and the overall feel of the movie. It's not worth the plastic that its made on.
Rating: Summary: The best fighting anime so far. Review: the best fighting anime Ive seen so far,the whole story was pretty well done considering they had to develop it around a video game with no base story to connect all the characters. the music here is perfect for each scene and the fighting sequences are simply awesome,a true state of the art martial arts violence anime. the most outstanding fight in my opinion was Chun-li VS Vega,a real adrenaline rush. this one is worth buying, just don't bump into someone you don't like after seeing this,.you'll surelly be feeling quite stimulated...heh
Rating: Summary: SCRIPT SCREW UP Review: THE ANIMATION IS TRULY AWESOME, HOWEVER THE SCRIPT IS NOT TRUE TO THE JAPANESE TRANSLATION. THE SCRIPT IS TOTALLY ORIENTATED FOR 12 AND UNDER. THEY SHOULD REDO THIS WITH THE ORIGINAL SCRIPT OR SUBTITLES. I SAW THE SUBTITLED VERSION WITH THE ORIGINAL SCORE AND THOUGHT IT WAS AMAZING! AN EASY FIVE STARS. THE REMIX LOSES IT'S FLAVOR; WHICH GOES TO SHOW YOU THAT NO MATTER HOW TERIFFIC THE ANIMATION IS, IF THE SCRIPT SUCKS IT'S HARD TO WATCH. I GIVE THIS TWO STARS JUST TO BE GENEROUS.
Rating: Summary: I love it Review: Love the game love the movie. Just get it and don't ask any question. Yeah they could of gone in to more detail with some of the charaters but it still great. Final Crticism: Story line-good/ Animation- good/ Overall- Great , get it
Rating: Summary: The Movie is Fantastic BUT There is no Extras. Review: Where is the menu, and the japanise translation WHERE? The only thing inside the dvd is the movie and that's it. No nothing, I would've bought the VHS if I knew the dvd was going to be the same. It was a waste of time making this into a dvd with nothing on it.
Rating: Summary: Decent, but WORTHLESS in comparison to the original Review: Having seen a fansubtitled version with the original music and dialogue, I have to say this new version is really crappy in comparison to the one I saw so long ago... The music, though Japanese, just fit the action much better than that "Alice in Chains" stuff. And they didn't bog down the dialogue with stuff like "one, two, THREE strikes YOU'RE OUT!!" I have but one request: release a DVD version that has the original dialogue and music tracks. If I could even snag a copy from overseas that had subtitles I'd be happy.
