Rating: Summary: Series fan or not this movie will not disappoint Review: Seamless animation, an amazing soundtrack, a great story, and the return of the loveable cast of characters are the Cowboy Bebop movie. Fans of the series will appreciate that nothing has been changed in the move to the big screen, and seeing the Bebop crew in what is essentially another full-length episode in the series is a great gift. For those who did not see the series, the movie is done so that no back story is needed, but following the characters up to the movie, which is supposed to be in between episodes 21 and 22 of the series is more rewarding. With a better understanding of the characters the movie becomes much more enjoyable, but it is still excellent even without seeing the series.
Rating: Summary: An Awesome Anime! Review: CB: The Movie actually plays out like an extended episode of the series. In fact, It takes place between episodes 22 and 23. The best thing about it is it's great plot, which is wholly follow-able, unlike the anime series which got confusing at some times. This is good for a one-timer, that is, you don't have to know the series to like the movie. Almost none of the overlying series story-arc is mentioned in the movie, making it an excellent door-way to the anime series for non-fans to become genuine lovers of all things Bebop. As mentioned, the fight scenes do beat the Matrix, and most other "mainstream" movies in the US. Blood flows freely and the characters infrequently use profanity, and a flash (pun intended) of blurry nudity makes it worthy of it's R rating, so it's not for the kiddies. Also don't forget the fact that Spike has a Marlboro in mouth about 40% of the movie. In conclusion, for the want-to-be fan, open up the Bebop world with this awesome movie. Don't worry about spoiling the series--it doesn't. Rent it or buy it (preferably buy it, you'll want to watch it again and again). For present Bebop fans, why are you reading this? You already have it. Go watch it. Now!
Rating: Summary: International Appeal....What's NOT to like??? Review: If you're looking at these words, you probably know somewhat of Cowboy Bebop. Well, if you don't know by now it is one of the most influential and...well, coolest series of the past decade. The movie is very much like an episode, but a very long drawn out one. (Why couldn't the series be like this?) I'm not gonna delve into plot details here since this is a review for the DVD, not the movie itself, although I could go on forever about how good the movie is. I really dont need to say more, but I'd like to. The DVD is great. The opening animation shows a first person view of the cockpit of the Swordfish flying through skyscrapers and hugging turns around buildings and tunnels. The features menu is also good, showing Spike and Vincent in action while you can select from one of the great extras. They're all spectacular... Summary: Buy it now. Spectacular insight for those who have come to love the crew of the Bebop. And... WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE?
Rating: Summary: Surprisingly Good Animation Review: I only had to see a few episodes of Cowboy Bebop to fully appreciate it - and just as I did it went off the air. So, hoping to feed my new-found addiction, I bought this movie and (I'm glad to say) feed-the-addiction it did. The story of the movie is the same setup you might find in one of the shows - it takes place on Mars, a terrorist hijacks a chemical warfare agent and sets it loose, in the process putting a giant bounty on his head. Who else but Spike and the gang would take the job? I expected this movie to be flawed majorly someway or another throughout watching it as most other animated films seem to be, but I was left amazed at how fluid some of the scenes were portraid. The fight scene between Spike and the ISSP (the interplanetary police) agent was simply amazing, not to mention every other awesome action sequence. The characters react to things the same way you might find someone in real life doing (with the exception of maybe Edward, of course), and it really comes off more like an actual movie than animation. Even my brother and Dad, who specifically claimed to not like the whole 'anime' craze, really got into it. The music is excellent from start to finish and really fits each scene (there's even some jazzy sounding tunes for those who have seen the series). Also, the story doesn't get as mind-boggling as usual Japanese cartoons seem to get these days. There are a few references made to purgatory, and a slightly confusing dialogue about beans between Spike and an Arabian looking dude, but other than that it's fluid and easy to follow. (On a side note, I'm not quite sure why they gave this an 'R' rating. The language is slightly bad, but there is no actual blatant nudity, or intensely bloody scenes.) The DVD itself also came with some cool features. You get to see the real life likeness of each character (Japanese and American) with character analyses, a few music videos, and some really cool storyboard sequences. So, wrapping things up, I have to say this is a 'fantabulous' (for lack of a better word) movie and DVD. I recommend it for fans of the show and the average person alike - it'll definitely surprise you.
Rating: Summary: No one can hate this movie unless your crazy =) Review: This is an amazing movie one of the best this year I would have seen it in theaters but the hick theater in my town or in any of the towns around my had it, damn =(. This captures the sprite of Cowboy Bebop. And the could say and do things you can't on T.V. Sorry I'm being repetetive. In Conclusion: SEE THIS MOVIE it's great!!!
Rating: Summary: this was awesome Review: Alright, why is anyone saying it [stunk]? Anything with Spike in it rocks nomatter what! There were awesome fight scenes and a lot of suspense...well sort of. The only bad thing was there wasnt as much music, like that other retrd said...but still. It was sort of like an extended episode, not very long. You might want to check it out before buying it. (read reviews, trailers, ect.) But this is a must for any bebop fan, and a great collection to the series, if you have it like me. And if you liked bebop, another anime to buy is "Outlaw Star" its really good, confusing at times but still its awesome. Peace out
Rating: Summary: 3,2,1 Lets Jam! Review: Being a huge fan of the anime series Cowboy Bebop, I anxiously awaited the theaters and dates that the movie would play in. I was so excited when I learned it would come to a theater only an hour from where I live that I couldnt concentrate on anything else. Finally the day arrived, and a friend and I made the trip to the 10:30 p.m. show. To my great enjoyment the movie delivered everything I had hoped. The music from beginning to end is exactly what you would expect from 'Bebop, but does tend to fade completely into the background from time to time. Action is terrific and spread well throughout. Some reviewers mentioned that the movie dragged and gets bogged down in places, but I did not find this so. I thought the breaks in the action and characters running around helped to move the story along and give a better feel for some of the characters that are not featured in the regular series. I especially thought the jail scene helped give more depth to Jet than seen before. By the way, the scene with Ein wearing the pumpkin head is not to be missed. My only complaint is that the end comes on a bit too fast, like it was rushed to just end. Other than that, a perfect 5. If the opportunity presents itself, definetly see this film on the big screen. It is worth every cent!
Rating: Summary: The Most Fun $...Can Buy This Summer Review: I'll be honest - I am a Cowboy Bebop fanatic. Therefore, my review will sound a little biased. Bear with me. First things first - this movie is not for kids. This movie is, however, for two different groups of people: Your anime haters and anime lovers. Haters! Listen to me and listen well. This movie will forever change your view on anime. It will make you stop thinking that you're watching cartoons and start feeling like a real, live action movie. This is adult anime fare at its finest. Filled with incredible, pulse-pounding action backed up by fantastic music and a very solid plot line - this movie is what anime was meant to be. If you think the world of anime is all about Dragon Balls and Pokemon, you owe it to yourself to see the other side of this wonderful art form. While this movie doesn't share the same fantasy-style qualities of, say, a Miyazaki (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away) film, this is about as close to an adult sci-fi action drama as you can get. But this movie didn't just graze the high mark, it hit the mark "Prince Of Thieves" style, splitting the arrow of ignorant smack-talk right in half. Pop the corn, and crank the 5.1 up to 11, because your night just got good. And pick up the TV series on DVD while you're at it, they go hand in hand. You'll thank me (immensely) later. Lovers! You probably downloaded the Japanese subtitled version like I did way back in 2001. So the only thing I need to say is this - pay the piper, and pick up the DVD. Even though chances are, you all are probably the ones who already preordered. :o)
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: This has to be one of my favorite anime films ever. I first saw it on my PC, in Japanease with English subtitles. Even though the quality wasnt all that great, I still loved the movie. Then I was able to see it in theaters, English dubed. I'd have to say it is one of the best dubs ever. It keeps the entire orginal cast from the seris (Spike is played by David Lucas, but that is just one of Steven Blum's alias names, so it is the same person.), and the new voices are supurb. The plot is good, and the movie can get very intense and exciteing at times. The humopr is typical Bebop humor, so its great. The music, just like the seris, is very kick rear. In a sense, if you like Bebop you'll love this. If you haven't seen the seris, you really should pick up this movie anyway due to its greatness.
