Summary: Don't be afraid to expect the best...
Review: Although I'm not a hard core Japanese Anime fan, I do watch some when great ones come along. I've always wondered why American public in general were slow to pick up this genre. Perhaps, Princess Mononoke will turn the tide.

This film will definitely satisfy the fans of every genre, guerranteed. Even the voice acting was great. I'm one of those people who hate dubbing, especially for asian films because they lose a lot of the meaning in translation and sounds awkward, not to mention bad acting. But this title is top notch.

Oh, one more thing. This was the movie I watched on a first date with the girl whom I'm marrying next month. They say any movie that can stir you emotionally is a good dating flick. This movie will definitely tickle every emotion in your soul~~

Summary: Great movie, FOR ANYONE
Review: I am both an anime fan, and a regular movie goer. When I saw this film coming out, I set very high expectations. They were exceded. This movie has lush animation, amazing charectors, and a brilliant storyline. Not a person I know, friend or foe, I can think of that could watch this movie and say it wasn't good. Anyone reading this who HASN'T already seen it should do what they can to witness this epic film.

Summary: I was very stingy when I gave this movie a four
Review: I only gave this movie a four because Miyazaki seems ever so slighty out of his element when writing dark fiction. I love this movie. I saw it in the theater twice and I pre-ordered it way back in March 2000. I also have to say that not liking Japanese animation is no excuse for not seeing this movie. It's a uniquely written and animated story that doesn't fit perfectly into any genre. More info on this film can be found in it's many favorable critical reviews.

Summary: An absolutely beautiful movie
Review: Princess Mononoke made me see that all anime isn't trash. This is one of the most beautiful anime's I've seen. Its well done and voices fit the characters well. Though definately not a child's movie, it will catch the attention of anime and non-anime fans. Adults and older children will love this movie. I can guarantee that it will capture the heart of anyone who watches it.

Summary: A Magical Film
Review: PRINCESS MONONOKE is one of the most wonderous and magical films I've ever seen. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to the DVD. If you haven't seen this film, you're really mission out on something-- a truly beautiful Japanese-mythological tale about the war between human and nature. It's amazing, and well worth your money.

Summary: What? No Japanese Audio?
Review: This is a great story, but the distributers totally missed the boat by NOT providing original Japanese audio tracks. They choose French and English but NOT the langauge the film was intended to be viewed in? Nonsense! Why do the studios/distributers continue to NOT understand how important it is to hear the original audio rather than Billy Bob dubs. Rediculous. I guess I'll have to shop around for a non region JPN dvd with english subtitles.

Summary: Hell Yeah!
Review: This is, without question one of the greatest Anime's ever. I have been waiting since the first time i saw this movie for it to come out on video. Hayao Miyazaki has been called the Walt Disney of Japan, but Walt Disney has never put out anything nearly as incredible as Mr. Miyazaki! Anyone with any taste at all should own this movie.

Summary: let's make the difference
Review: Please check the Nausicaa.net. Disney is still considering about the Japanese soundtrack. Release date is postophoned, but we should consider this as a good sighn that they might do the right job for this movie on DVD. let's write your opinion to the Disney by mail. Your mail could make a difference!

Summary: Get your act together Miramax
Review: Miramax announced today that the DVD will NOT release August 29th with the VHS rental title. Apparently the campaign for a Japanese language alternate soundtrack has won!

Let me just say that my 5-star rating is for the movie and NOT for Miramaxs unbelievable incompetence in this whole charade. Personally, I want to own the dubbed version and might never even listen to the original soundtrack. Sorry purists, but I absolutely adored this movie in the form I saw it, nothing could improve the experience for me. I rate this one of the best movies ever made, in any category, and I had hardly any experience of anime before this.

So, I applaud the campaign that was fought to get a "complete" release and will enjoy any "extra features" that now get included as much as the next guy. My problem is with the many delays. I have waited for this title for a year and this on-again off-again scheduling (anyone remember June 6th? ) has really steamed my windows. Obviously Miramax is inexperienced in the anime market (hence the nonsense about holding back the Japanese soundtrack for fear of damaging a domestic release) but with me, they have truly lost face for these delays. So, where are we now? back at square one, with NO RELEASE DATE and the inevitable further delay for a simultaneous release in Japan where NONE of Miyazakis movies have yet been released on DVD. Smooth move Miramax!

Summary: Latest information regarding japanese language
Review: I have just read the following on DVDTalk: "Talk about making an impact! We just received news that Disney has put the DVD release of Princess Mononoke on hold "in anticipation of the availability of the original Japanese language track and possible additional bonus materials." We did it! Together we influenced one of the biggest studios in Hollywood! Congrats DVD talkers!" I hope this information is exact and that Princess Mononoke will finally be released with the original japanese track and english subtitles in addition to the dubbed version. I have already preordered my copy at Amazon. If this information is false, I can always cancel my order, but there really still seems to be hope for anime fans...
