Rating: Summary: worse english track yet (minor spoilers) Review: Alright, so I'll give you the bad news first. The english dubbing is as crappy as it's been all along, with the added negative bonus of there being none of the sound effects from the original Japanese track! When you switch back and forth between the two you really notice the difference. Somebody at ADV is dragging their heels on this project. It's also kind of 'funny' how they keep saying that all the Silver Saints have been killed off at first - and then three more show up. You know? And now the good news is (if you prefer the Japanese track anyway like me) that this volume rocks! Oh yeah, gold saints start coming out of the woodwork on this one. I've read a lot of the original SS Manga but I've never seen how the Sanctuary Saga actually begins. I was thoroughly impressed with the technique behind Cancer's "corpse candle" attack. I had never thought much of it otherwise but it's a pretty crazy concept. So yeah, apart from obvious slacking on the part of the translators, this volume I dig.
Rating: Summary: ADV slips in their error detection department Review: So far having been very impressed with ADV's translation and dubbing of Saint Seiya, I thought I had a perfect collection thus far, but I was wrong. In the last half of the last episode on this disc, in the English dubbing, there are no sound effects. They were for some reason omitted from the English language soundtrack, so in order to actually hear the sound effects you'll have to turn on the Japanese audio and English subs. It's a pretty big error for ADV to miss, and thus the DVD gets only 4/5 stars and not 5/5. Fair warning to all of you who plan to buy the DVD. Still worth buying, it's a great series, but ADV slipped in their quality checking unfortunately.
Rating: Summary: Golden Opportunities, Indeed Review: The Gold Saints, the Aces in Sanctuary's deck, finally begin to reveal themselves to the world. As it turns out, the Sagittarius Gold Cloth that our Bronze Boys so desperately fought in the Galaxy tournament from way back isn't the only one of its kind, and as the astrological zodiac name of the Cloth might suggest -- there are actually 12 Gold Cloths!
"Twelve Sets of Gold Cloth!": After failing to take out the Bronze Saints so many times with his Silver Saints, Pope Ares finally decides to use his trump cards -- the Gold Saints. Seeing as one Gold Saint is undoubtedly stronger than several of the strongest Silver Saints combined, Milo of The Golden Scorpio is summoned for the job -- until Leo Aiolia, the same kind yet mysterious Aiolia from episodes past, and the same Aiolia whose brother Aiolos was the former wearer of the sacred Sagittarius Gold Cloth, offers his services instead.
"The Decision of The Mask - Love or Death!": Seiya, still recovering from damages sustained from his previous fights, is knocked around senselessly by Aiolia, but a sudden unlikely ally in Shaina saves him -- until it becomes obvious that even she is no match for the powerful lightning fangs of Golden Leo. Heavily injured, Shaina finally reveals the secret reason why she has been after Seiya's head all this time.
"Attack Gold Saint!": It all seems hopeless for Seiya against Aiolia, until he receives an ultimate aid from the one thing he had never expected to see again -- the Golden Cloth of Sagittarius! However, Aiolia doesn't take kindly to seeing Seiya wear his dead brother's old armor, and will take drastic measures to correct this -- until yet another person arrives.
"Shiryu Challenges Deathmask!": Featuring the debut of Gold Saint Cancer Deathmask. Deathmask is sent on a mission from Sanctuary to the 5 Ancient Peaks to retrieve the Golden Cloth of Libra from, surprise surprise, Shiryu's old master. Of course, Shiryu refuses to allow this to happen, and will stop Deathmask at any cost -- even if he's in no condition to fight someone that's miles above his level.
"Away We Go!": With the Bronze Saints and Saori tired of Sanctuary sending powerful assassins to kill them, they decide to bring the fight over to the Pope. Seiya, Hyoga, and Saori are waiting by the private jet and ready to go, but Shun is missing. Where is he, and what's keeping him?
