Rating: Summary: Comic Party Volume 2 - Comedic yet has a soul to it Review: Although this second volume seemed to be a bit less action than the first one I still enjoyed it. Th relationships developed between the characters might seem a bit outraeous or child-like, but the characters still offer some quite insights from time-to-time. The aspect of really working hard for a dream that you have and not giving up is a good lesson for anyone. The comedic aspect is well-done, and even if you are not an Otaku exactly you can still enjoy the various comedic moments that are common to all convention goers. Especially as it relates to TV or Movie themed shows. i.e. a Star Trek or Star Wars convention. Overall this series might not be the greatest of all time, but it is a good laugh and once-in-a-while does offer some interesting things to think about. For a good laugh and a good time check out this series.
Rating: Summary: THE PARTY CONTINUES Review: Well, Kazuki has done it! He created a new doujinshi in Volume 1 of Comic Party and even sold a few issues of it. The problem is that now after all the expenses of creating it, he's flat broke. The ever wise and maniacal Taishi sets him up with a part-time job. To Kazuki's horror, it's at a cosplay cafe. Wait till Mizuki finds out. In the second episode, due to his obsession with creating his comic, his studies have lagged and he's in danger of failing his finals, unless he can find a way to balance the two. The last episode is a pseudo-date between Kazuki and Mizuki as they go shopping on their summer vacation. Of course, Kazuki somehow finds a way to make it comic related. Running underneath it all is his friend Mizuki's feelings for him. Kazuki is so absorbed in his comic that he doesn't even notice her attentions so she suffers. This second volume wasn't as funny as the first but it still was quite hilarious. You don't get the sense that the world of doujinshi is being ridiculed here. This series is an affectionate homage that uses humor to convey its passion about comics. The extras are pretty good. It includes a mini-episode #2 which continues from the first disc about the comic party characters being sucked down to an underground world. There is an interview with the Japanese voice actresses that play Yuu and Eimi. Part of the interview consists of them playing a game similar to Rock'em Sock'em Robots in character. All in all, good buy. Try it. I wouldn't recommend the manga that much. The anime is much funnier.
