Summary: Love It!
Review: After having rented these often enough to have bought them twice over, I'm finally doing it. I love this series. It's full of action, a bit of humor and nicely done. Anime fans if both types will enjoy this. The music's ok, the animation good, and the even the dubbed voices are good. It's enjoyable anime, unlike some of them that are too serious for their own good.... I HIGHLY recommend buying it, not renting it. It's hard to find anyplace around here at least that has all of them and not just 1 and 3 or 1 and 2. I find that a lot at rental stores...it's depressing...so BUY IT!!

Summary: Bastard
Review: Bastard is an action-based story about the legendary sorcerer, Darsh Schneider. Darsh, even though he is characterized as a villain- -since the story opens with him being resurrected after a failed attempt to rule the world, he really isn't a bastard at all. The plot is fair and there are a couple of really funny scenes- -Darsh has a habit of taking off his clothes. I suggest this anime, and others like Sorcerer Hunters, Fushigi Yugi, Tenchi Muyo, etc. if you like humorous anime with a twist.

Summary: Role-Playing Brought to the Silver Screen
Review: Bastard is an interesting anime. It reminds me of a role-playing game with sexual undertones. The series is about a warlock who is summoned forth by his enemies to save every one from certain doom.

As I mentioned, Bastard is like a role-playing game. It has a lot of the common role-playing or faerie tale elements within it such as a princess, a maiden in distress, sorcerers, knights, monsters, elementals, and a multitude of villains to boot.

This DVD contains all six episodes of the mini series of Bastard. Bastard has a reputation for being the cheesiest anime every created. Despite it's reputation, I found it to be well worth it. The animation is fair and the music is not that hot but the slap-stick comedy and the plot make up for where Bastard lacks. If you are into role-playing I highly suggest you purchas Bastard because it is a good laugh.

Summary: Human beings were miserably inadequate...
Review: Bastard is now a favorite of mine, though that was not always the case. It has it's own brand of crass anti-hero mixed with shrieky heroine, that is at first somewhat disturbing and cliche, yet comes off with real integrity. It has a lot to do with the main character and his friends, all of whom begin the series as maniacal tyrants, and end it as sympathetic heroes. The 6 OAV episodes serve as an introduction to the comic book series, but make a complete story arc themselves. The video looks sharp and colorful, the dolby digital 2.0 soundtrack is solid. I have to say, what a great dub! I was surprised to say the least, but the voices fit the characters well, and the voice acting is dead on. And it really needed to be, to capture the difficult emotional tone of the show. The subtitle is good also and both include the classic line "Human beings were miserably inadequate...". The show makes innumerable references to 80's heavy metal and rock bands but these are downplayed a bit in this translation. The animated menus have to be the best looking I have seen on an anime DVD. Without question this DVD comes with my highest recommendation. The story is not for everyone but this is a great series and DVD.

Summary: Awesome!
Review: Bastard!! brings together some of the best elements normally found in different anime titles and puts them together as a powerful ride!

Awesome animation, Powerful Magic, Incredible Monsters, well developed characters, action, adventure, a love triangle, sacrifice and most of all, a sense of humour, Bastard!! is definately one of my favourite all time anime titles.

Reccomend the subtitled version over the dub.

Summary: Dark Schneider, baby =)
Review: Bastard!! is a non stop action tale following Darshu's ressurection, through his trials by fire, to the climactic conclusion. Unfortunately, it seems as though the tale was not quite finished, and it leaves you drooling for more.

Stellar characters, excellent story telling, hilarious slapstick, and even a little drama. I could go on all day, but I'll keep it short.

Perhaps if enough interest is shown they'll make a sequel with a Kall-Darshu fight =))))

Summary: The Distinct Collectible Edition
Review: Bastard!! is an ironic choice of titles for an anime film (this coming from a guy who thinks "Cowboy Bebop" sounds quite normal). This being said, this DVD gives the essential version of Bastard!! that is required for the highest level of pleasure in viewing.

Bastard!! is the classic story of an anti-hero evil wizard who changes over time to defend a kingdom he once tried to destroy.

If you are new to fantasy or anime, I hightly recommend this DVD to wet your feet.

Summary: Jimminy Jilikers this is Good Stuff!
Review: Exellent anime. Superb visuals, exellent storyline, cool and original characters, great fighting scenes, laugh out loud splashes of comedy thrown in at just the right times, exellent price (27 bucks for 3, 1hr long, VHS tapes). Typically i'm pretty hard to please but I just can't find anything wrong with this anime.

One thing: be sure you watch them in the right order, mine didn't come in the right order in the box and my friend put in the last tape first. =P No, not ALL my friends are that dumb.
