Rating: Summary: The "Lost" Star Blazers, Well Worth Finding! Review: "Star Blazers" purists cringe when "The Bolar Wars" series is mentioned. Sure, the voice actors are different than the ones from "The Quest for Iscandar" and "The Comet Empire" series. And yes, during the limited broadcast run in the mid-1980s, they actually used "The Comet Empire" theme to open and close the show. But the DVDs do this lost leg of the "Star Blazers" trilogy nothing but justice.Originally called "Yamato III" in Japan, "The Bolar Wars" finds the Star Force once again on a quest to save mankind, this time from a sun gone haywire. The Bolar Federation and the Galman Empire are battling for control of the galaxy, and it's up to the crew of the Argo to find a new home and, at the same time, defend itself in the fierce fight. "Star Blazers" fans will note that the opening credits are printed in, and the theme song sung in, Japanese! The closing credits and theme are also done in Japanese. And the voice work, though not as sharp as on the first two series, still conveys great urgency and talent. True fans of "Star Blazers" who have never seen "The Bolar Wars" will want to take advantage of this DVD collection, and relive that late-70s afterschool magic with this gem of a series!
