Summary: The BEST
Review: If you like drama or sci'fi, then you'll be in for a shot when you see both of them in this series. This is absolutley awesome, you just have to see it: I won't give anything away....

Remember, the sequel is out, so pick it up along the way.

Summary: One of the greatest Scifi dramas in anime
Review: If you like hard scifi, drama, and anthropology, you will love this anime. It's very different from much scifi anime out there, and devoid of most anime stereotypes. You won't find nose bleeds, sweat drops or any of the other staples of comedy anime in this show. It is a very serious anime that portrays itself realistically. The universe is highly complex with the Abh culture WELL developed and believable.

It is the first part in a series and it is slow. That being said, it doesn't waste it's time. You'll always be getting some wonderful tidbit about Abh culture, history, or science, not to mention developing the two main character of the series, whose realtionship develops realistically.

Summary: Interesting, & Intelligent Sci-Fi series with Great Visuals!
Review: Jinto and Lafiel are two young royals, who are thrown together during an interplanetary war. The Empire Abh, and the United Mankind Empires are fighting. It raises questions as for who to root for in the conflict. I believe the Abh were once humans, who have progressed through genetic manipulation, and have now rebelled. There seem to be many conflicting reasons for the conflicts, and unusual treatment for the conquered. Jinto was the offspring of a political faction and somehow made a prince.

Beyond the political intrigue, we have some of the differences in the cultures displayed through Jinto and Lafiel. Jinto spent his life on the surface; Lafiel was basically, born in space. Most of the time, it's the Vulcan like logic, and intelligence of the Abh, Lafiel making Jinto seem very impotent. Things change later in the series, when they crash, and have to survive on the land.

It does appear that Abhs were modeled after Vulcan's. The pointy ears, long life spans, and stoic intelligence gives that away. Still, something is quite different in their war vs the human culture. The series has other intelligent treatments of concepts like hyperspace. I did have a bit of trouble believing that mines were an effective space weapon, but I suppose its possible. The space battles are nice and very believable action.

The main thing the series has going for it, is still the characters. The main characters and supporting players, are well developed at each point in the story. The story often plays more like a medieval era adventure, so it can seem a little choppy in places. Still, it looks like the storyteller stuck to their vision, and played out the plots of the main characters within it. When it all comes to an end you do want more, and they made two sequel series, both under the Banner of the Stars heading in the US. Its too bad such a richly created universe does not have the support to create 200 episodes like some other anime series. I guess it would cheapen the quality.

Summary: Top of the Line
Review: Most of the other reviewers have covered the reasons why this show is so great for people who love serious storytelling and great character development in anime. I fell in love with it instantly. However, for those whose tastes lean towards hot chicks shooting guns and big space battles -- well, they're here, but they're spread out within a great deal of conversation and restrained, elegant character interaction. If you like the films of Stanley Kubrick, you'll like the speed this anime moves at. If you prefer something with the pacing of "Fast and the Furious," this will drive you nuts.

Summary: NOTHING BETTER
Review: On a 1-5 scale I would put a 13 but it won't let me. This is one of the best anime series that I've ever seen, the only thing that can top it is Banner of the Stars, Banner of the Stars 2, and so on... It follows Hiroyuki Morioka's novel Seikai no Monshu excellently and is a great compliment to his work. Hiroyuki Morioka's even created a language for his novels called Baronh, it's not just a few words backwards or random letters either, Boranh it a whole language with it's own rules and letters. I myself have even learned this language. Crest of the Stars has great space battles and characters.

Summary: Great Anime
Review: The first time I saw this Anime I knew that I had to have it. So I went out and got this Anime. The only complant I had about Crest of the Stars was...it was TOO short. When it finished I wanted more. Thankfully I found out there was a second series to it. I also own that as well. It was even better then the first series. I reccomend that you get the second series, Banner of the Stars. I will also be getting the third series, Banner of the Stars 2. I know that most of you will enjoy this anime.
