Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very enjoyable
Review: This DVD is a must-have for fans of the Monster Rancher anime series. It includes three episodes: "The Ruin's Secret", "Pixie's Defeat", and "Monol's Story". Pixie is the focus of the first two episodes, and she is very impressive. Tiger shows off several of his ice attacks in "The Ruin's Secret". In the final episode, the bumbling Captain Weed gets in good with Mu, and Monol enlightens Genki and his friends to the origin of the Pheonix.

Monster Rancher is one of the few light-hearted animes worth watching. It has a storyline that goes beyond the usual fare that kids anime receive, enough so that writers of some adult animes could take a few lessons from it. The animation quality is good: on a scale of 1-10, 1 being terrible, 10 being great, this anime deserves a least an 8. Some scenes and episodes are better animated than others (and some of the best in the series are featured on this DVD). Each of the characters are well-voiced. Janyse Jaud is excellent as the voice of Pixie (this anime's resident babe), and Brian Drummond was a great choice for Tiger of the Wind.

If you like good sci-fi anime, buy this DVD.
