Summary: Its not that Perverted...
Review: It is a sexually charged anime but its mostly what any young college boy thinks about. I found the main female characther strange and endearing. Urara, is not a typical girl and that what makes this anime so funny. Don't get me wrong there is still content that is too sophisticated for young eyes, but if your over 18 and like funny anime this is a good one.

Summary: Touma's confusing world
Review: It's a story every teenager knows. Once you pass that certain age and your attention turns to the opposite sex, all sorts of troubles can happen. No one knows this better than Touma, one of the main characters in this series.

After finding what he believes to be his true love, a future college girl, and failing his entrance exam, Touma begins a string of lies to work his way into Meiko's heart. This would probably much easier for him without the intervention of his cousin, Urara. She has the doe-eyes for Touma and doesn't give up too easily. Despite her obvious affections for him, Touma seems blinded by his love for Meiko. A recipe for disaster.

The sexual inuendo's are high in this Anime series, with some breif scenes of nudity and Touma's obvious libido. Despite this, it is far from over the top. The characters are always thinking about the right and wrong sides of their actions, making this a very emotional tale. This first volume introduces the characters and sets the scene for things to come. Once you've watched it, you'll be rushing to get the second.

Summary: Definitely for mature audiences...rent it first if you can..
Review: Other reviewers have dealt with the details of the story, so I'll stick to other items. First, this isn't for the children. The situations and humor target mature audiences. Second, the DVD has only three episodes, which is sad because DVDs can hold more data than that. That's why it get three of five stars. Of course, there are TWELVE (12) previews on the disc. Gee, some of that space would've been great to use for another episode, eh?...Okay, nuff said about that...on the story line and characters, the interaction is believable and humourous <-- remembering who the target audience is...on the animation, it's good <-- I've been watching anime for years, so it takes a lot to impress me...the audio is 2 track digital, which is fine for the story <-- with no flying mecha or magic, surround really would be wasted...overall, I enjoyed this DVD...it doesn't waste valuable shelf space...see if you can find a rental before you buy, just to be sure this is something you'd enjoy...

Summary: Not so overcomplicated love triangle.
Review: Sakura Diaries is a somewhat basic love triangle story between Touma (who's hoping to find true love, and is always feeling guilty), Urara (Touma's younger cousin who fell in love with him six years earlier, who tries to keep an upbeat outlook) and Mieko (the beautiful redhead who attends Keio University where Touma pretends he goes).

It's a cute story with lots of misunderstanding, some lies, and a fair amount of fan service.

Possible spoilers...

Chapter One - Tokyo Success
It's Touma's first night in Tokyo. He's moved to the big city because he's testing to get in Keio University. On his first night a call girl arrives at his hotel room. The call girl, Urara, who we find out later is Touma's cousin, recognizes him but he has no idea who she is. Nothing really happens because Touma is waiting to find true love. The next day on campus Touma runs into the doe-eyed Mieko and falls in love.

Chapter Two - My Cousin Is a High School Call Girl
Touma doesn't make it into Keio but Mieko does. He doesn't tell Mieko and enrolls into a cram school. Touma knocks on the door of his uncle's house and Urara, suprisingly, opens the door. She explains that the whole call girl act was just a joke.

Chapter Three - Is the Fake Student a Slave of Love
Touma goes to campus to tell Mieko the truth but overhears her telling potential suitors that the only requirement for her is that the guy must attend Keio university. Urara and her best friend, Komi come to campus and spy Touma telling Mieko he's got into the schools economic program.

Summary: A good series..... but some unnecessary editing
Review: Sakura Diaries is pretty much your typical high-school romance anime. Alot like Ranma 1/2 or Hana Yori Dango, only with alot more fan service. The plot is a familiar one, but with a few twists. Boy is trying to get into a prestigious Tokyo school and meets a girl who goes there. He falls in love with her, but she will only go out with him if he is a student at the school, which is proving difficult for him to do. Meanwhile, an old childhood love shows up and the three get caught up in a love triangle. It is a very entertaining and humorous series, with interesting characters and good animation. It is however, a bit risque and if you prefer a more "clean" romance series this may not be for you.

I thoroughly enjoyed the series, but was somewhat let down with the job that ADV did. I own a fan-subbed version of it on VHS, and when I bought the DVD version I was very disappointed to find that they had done alot of unnecessary editing, and even cut out some scenes. It does not hurt the plot at all, but I was just upset that they had edited alot of stuff. Aside from that, the series itself it very good.

Summary: Solid Anime
Review: The Sakura Diaries Anime was based mostly upon the manga made by "U-Jin," a pseudonym for the creator of this very mature title. Although somewhat different from the manga, the anime still keeps some of the character bases and plot developments static. In an attempt to reach a more cultured audience the creator veered from his usual pure perversion and made the title a very deep and engrossing show. Any sex scenes that are in this title are important for plot development and characterization. This is a great title for adults who want to experience a more "mature" cartoon, but keep the kids away from it.

Summary: Sexy? Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
Review: They must have left the sexy parts out of the copy I rented to preview the series - rented because something seemed fishy about the reputation. This is for 10-year olds who think a dweeb drooling for a babe is funny... All those "sexy" comments are the video maker's public relations department trying to make it racy and trap the viewer with. Anyone who likes movies that are mature (married couples, lovers, etc.) will find it stupid and juvenile. On the other hand, if you like fairly silly, goofy, repressed...shows, this is for you!

Summary: More substance than fluff
Review: This DVD is not as fluffy as it may at first seem. And, once you get involved in the story, you have to watch the rest of the series.

The premise is simple. A young boy goes to Tokyo to take his College entrance exams. He expects to do well, but flunks completely. During the exams he falls for a beautiful red-head, and lies to her by saying that he passed his exams and is going to attend school with her. At the same time he moves in with his female cousin Urara (thinking that her father will be home at any time) who knows the truth about his exam scores and has been secretly in love with him for years. There are the common sexual hijinks that you expect from anime, but there is also a very strong and involved story line that draws you in. Overall it is a very nice series. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys anime.

Summary: fun and quirky
Review: This is a quirky addition to anyones anime collection. Though I wouldn't recommend this for kids, a mature audience will find this humorous and addictive. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it would have been nice to have more episodes in one volume and the picture quality is average. But if your looking for a comedic( animated) romance, this is a good place to start.
