Rating: Summary: Atlast, Mirage Studios get's it right!! Review: "This is a great collection from the 1st season of the new Ninja Turtles animated show that perfectly captures the original comic book series from Mirage Studios. Anyone who grew up reading the fantastic black & white indie series back in it's hey day will most likely appreciate this collection as it follows the original series much closer and definitively than the campy 90's cartoon and horrible film adaption's ever did. The animation style is very close to that of creators Eastman and Laird's edgy and brooding art with strong influences from fellow Mirage Studio artists, Michael Dooney and Jim Lawson, and the obvious anime influences for good measure. So just finally seeing these images & designs on the screen in full color atlast is just so awesome! There's some new characters introduced plus all the classic ones from the entire TMNT universe are all present & penned so definitively you wonder why Eastman & Laird didn't originally do a show like this back in the day! With intelligent strong storyline's & a much more sophisticated direction, I highly recommended this collection to fans of Batman -the animated series, X Men Evolution, the recent Spiderman cartoon from Mtv, etc. Special features on the discs include an insightful behind the scenes on the making of the series & a very cool 4 part interview with co creator Peter Laird. I look foward to getting the rest of the seasons collected in these box set's. 'Nuff said!"
