Rating: Summary: Not the best DBZ movie, but still a lot of fun! Review: Okay, so Funimation seems to just grab people off the street to dub the voices for their English DBZ dubs, and they mess up the original plots and music. At least they've started giving us the option to view the movies in the original Japanese with directly translated subtitles! The plot finds Goku saving Earth from the evil alien Slug and his minions, who wish to envelop us in eternal night. The most annoying thing to me about Funimation's treatment of this film is their inexplicable changing of Gohan's cute little whistling song. Many of the Dragon Ball Z movies fall in a sort of "alternate timeline" from the comic and TV show...they could never have really taken place at the times that they do. For example, this movie has Goku and friends on Earth at the time when they were all either dead or on planet Namek. Goku is at the point developmentally where it is known that he is the Super Saiyan, but hasn't ever "gone blonde" yet. All of the DBZ movies have faster paced action and more exciting fights than the TV show, which are sometimes drawn out over several episodes. This is a worthwhile purchase for any DBZ fan, expecially because it includes the original Japanese version.
Rating: Summary: 12% Enjoyment....99% Cheese ! Review: Sorry to say, but even if I own this movie, Dragonball Z: Lord Slug is the worst among all of the DBZ movies. But don't get me wrong here. This is not the only worst movie. There are other DBZ movies that (stink) like the movies featuring the character Broly, the ultimate Super Saiyan. Anyway let me explain this movie. The animation is top-notch. As always, Akira Toriyama is always letting his ideas do the hard work creating superb looking characters (including the main villain Lord Slug. He looks like a pumped up version of Piccolo !), the quality of the energy beams, and the blood spills. The comedy, which lasts for about a few seconds, is awesome. Everyone likes the part where Gohan and Icarus annoys Piccolo with their whistling music and the part when the news reporter Hashimoto freaks out. The part where Piccolo sweats with irritation and screams out really made me laugh. The action is okay. Pretty much the same old traditional aerial battles from the previous 3 movies (all three of the early DBZ movies are better than this one), but some raw violence and excitement are found here. The best parts of the violence are when Lord Slug blasts his men who oppose and offend him, and when Piccolo goes into battle with one of Lord Slug's henchmen. And the music, perfectly matches the action and dramatic sequences perfectly. Now for the bad side. The way the story went, it was too darn short. I was pretty much expecting a long lasting plot like the one from Dragonball Z: The Worlds Strongest. I was very disappointed when it ended at a short time. Sure the action was amazing, but then again, it wears off during the battle with Goku and Lord Slug. The action really got boring with all of the same moves. And what's the deal with this so-called, "Super Saiyan transformation" ? Goku is just surrounded by yellow energy with no pupils. That is not Super Saiyan. When he becomes Super Saiyan, his hair is supposed to be yellow and the pupils in his eyes are supposed to be green, not lit up with yellow flames and pupilless eyes. What were they thinking ? That is one thing they really (messed) up on. No ! This is not FUNimation's fault this time ! It's the people who worked on the movie. It's their fault ! And I kept on asking myself, "why can't Lord Slug be much better than movies #1, #2, and #3 ?". To others, it's a total waste of money, but if you're anything like me and you're very anxious to see every DBZ movie in English, none of us members from Amazon or any fan of DBZ will not try to stop you. All-in-all, this is the worst DBZ movie ever, but it still has its great moments. Like I said, if you want to see all of the DBZ movies so badly, we're not holding you back, so go ahead. Note: The 5th movie "Dragonball Z: Cooler's Revenge" will come out Jan. 2002 and it will be way better than all four of the DBZ movies. Expect more better action than the "Lord Slug" movie.
Rating: Summary: Dbz Lord slug 1996 Review: Superb film with the greatest action i've ever seen, except for the other titles from the dbz range it can't be beat.
Rating: Summary: Not as bad as one might think Review: Sure, it wasn't the best of the movies, but I didn't think it was as bad as most people tend to think. The lack of yellow hair when Goku went "super sayian" was kinda goofy, but beyond that I think this one is at the very least worth watchin.
Rating: Summary: An excellent addition to the DBZ family! Review: The 4th Dragon Ball Z film, "Lord Slug" was a great example of true DBZ. The music was great and went well with the movie. Also, as I usually mention, the animation is well-drawn, and this is the first English Dubbed DBZ film to have the cast from the series play the voices. Another thing, Goku is supposed to have gone Super Saiyan here but actually his hair just turned red and his pupils disappeared, that's it, but it was cool how Goku was trashin' Lord Slug. All in all, this is a DBZ film well worth seeing, so buy it now!

Rating: Summary: "Lord Slug" is a great movie! Review: The animation was done very well and the music went with the action in the movie. The plot was simple yet exciting and the fight scenes were great. The voice actores did a good job with the characters. This is the kind of movie that I would watch again and enjoy. I highly recomend this movie.
Rating: Summary: Well-drawn animation, and an easy-to-understand plot! Review: The fourth DBZ movie, Lord Slug was originally released in Japan under the title "Super Saiya-Jin Gokuu" but was changed into Lord Slug after being dubbed into English and released in the U.S.A. This movie is a bit shorter than the others, but it is still good. I love the first song, besides the theme, played on this movie, I was "playing the music" in my head 'cause it was so cool. It wasn't all that funny when Gohan and Higher Dragon annoyed Piccolo in the beginning, but it was a little. This movie practically gets right to the point, basically right after that scene the movie gets down to business. First we see a so-called "computer simulation" of a giant meteor destroying the planet, then some more kick ... music starts to play and it shows Goku and Krillin trying to deflect the asteroud with their Kamehameha beams fused together (I'm not telling what happens to the asteroid). Let's jump forward to after Goku starts fighting Lord Slug, now, Slug gets him enraged and Goku gets really strong, people say that he went Super Saiyan but actually Goku never goes Super Saiyan until DBZ movie 5 (which is Cooler's Revenge). Still, the way Goku charged like a bull straight at Lord Slug was really cool, but after that, then it wasn't cool again until Goku was back on his feet after a thorough ...-whoopin' from Slug and powers up a Kaio-Ken attack. Unlike the first three movies, Goku sounds like he does in the series. It's kind of disappointing to hear Goku raged up in the first three DBZ movies 'cause he kinda sounds like a girl. The Super Saiyan transformation was great (it's easier just to call it Super Saiyan, so let's do just that, 'kay?) and he looked cool with waving black hair, red shadowing (his hair, I mean) and his pupils cannot be seen. Some people say it looks stupid, but I think it looks fairly cool. All in all, this was a great DBZ movie and you should buy it right away. Oh yeah, that first song besides the theme that I was talking about, it is by Finger Eleven and it is called Drag You Down.
Rating: Summary: don't get this movie unless your a tru DB/Z/GT fan Review: the movie has the worst story and the characters were waisted. they could have had a better title for the movie becuase in japan the movie was called ssj son goku and that makes no sense to me at all considering he realy doesn't go ssj his hair just stands up i love dbz but this movie and movie ""the tree of might"" run with each other for the worst dbz movie ever.if you dont like my opinion kiss my dragonballs.
