Rating: Summary: I happen to think its a great movie. Review: I don't understand this Super Sayian thing. I never saw any advertisements for there being any mention of Goku Turning Super Sayian. And as for someone who said the Namek turning into a giant was a stupid idea...maybe...but it did happen in Dragon Ball (before DBZ) near the end of the series when Piccolo fought Goku as Ma Junior. So its not like they just tossed that in there and hoped everyone liked it. It was something that people know Nameks can do, if they've seen DB or read the Dragon Ball Mangas. Some may not have known this since I don't think it happened at all in DBZ. I loved the idea of using the awesome heavy metal sound track in the back ground of the English cut. The way it was soft during the talking, then boomed when the action began, and I thought the fight scenes were pretty cool. Tree of might was my favorite until seeing Lord Slug. I think this movie was made pretty well. Great soundtrack, love the voice actors, the animation was better than in the earlier movies, the plot may not be origional, but at least it had a plot. Anyone who has seen the release of Angel Links, a really bad waste of money, would have to agree with me on that. I think this is a great movie for those who are DB, DBZ and DBGT fans. I agree that if you're not a DBZ fan you may not get into it, but hey, thats with any movie. If you're not a martial arts fan, why watch a Jackie Chan flick? If you don't like "chick Flicks" Why go see "Moulan Rouge"? This is just a matter of love/hate. You either have to love DBZ, or you won't like the movie. Thankfully, I LOVE DBZ!! And this movie ROCKS!!
Rating: Summary: And the award for outstanding mediocracy goes to..LORD SLUG! Review: Wouldn't it be funny if the Toei Animation crew in Japan made a terrible movie based on their long running serise and actually released it in theatres and then a overratted dub company called FUNimation actually brought over here and managed to make it worse by pretending that it was a new movie even though it came out over 10 years ago and added a rock score worse than Transformers the movie...oh wait. IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED!! MY GOD!! This movie is for people who aren't allowed to grow fingernails. Buy this movie if you're collecting the series, but don't expect a plot, decent animation, a good dub, widescreen, extras, common sense, or something original.
Rating: Summary: An excellent addition to the DBZ family! Review: The 4th Dragon Ball Z film, "Lord Slug" was a great example of true DBZ. The music was great and went well with the movie. Also, as I usually mention, the animation is well-drawn, and this is the first English Dubbed DBZ film to have the cast from the series play the voices. Another thing, Goku is supposed to have gone Super Saiyan here but actually his hair just turned red and his pupils disappeared, that's it, but it was cool how Goku was trashin' Lord Slug. All in all, this is a DBZ film well worth seeing, so buy it now!
Rating: Summary: great music, but not so good of a story. Review: I would like to start out by saying that this movie had great music but the story line was just not what I expected. Its the typical enemy that is a little bit stronger than goku, but ends up being killed by goku in the end. The action in the movie was alright and a little too slow. When Goku was taking on Lord Slug's henchmen(main boss), which consisted of three guys, well there was actually four. In the beginning of the movie Lord Slug ends up killing one of the members w/ a small little wimpy blast because he is very short tempered. But anyways, Goku dodges two of the henchmen and ends up killing them both with a blast and a punch. The third henchmen is killed by Piccollo. When Goku fights Lord Slug it is really kind of boring. Goku powers up into what I think is his kayo kan form, but is unusually stronger than usual and starts to kick Lord Slug's behind, untill he powers up into super Namek. Anyone who wants to watch this movie to know the ending should rent it and not purchase it. If you want to see a great dbz movie then watch: The History of Trunks or The Tree of Might.
Rating: Summary: "Lord Slug starts the party with a bang...!" Review: This is the fourth Dragon Ball Z film. In Japan, it was released as "Super Saiya-Jin Son Gokou". When I first watched this, I was really hit with surprise when Lord Slug removed his hood and showed that he was a Namek, it just took me aback! I really liked the soundtrack, and Disturbed (which happens to be my favorite band) has two songs on this movie, Stupify and Fear. Medametcha was really weird, which made him funny, and it was pretty cool how Goku annihalated him and Angeela. Lord Slug, at first, is really old, but he gets young by wishing it from the Dragon Balls. Then he can't stop saying how amazed he is that he's young again, which, if you're like me, you might get sort of sick of after a little bit. Piccolo's fight with that gargoyle monster was really cool, I'm not exactly sure what song played during that fight scene, but it was a good one. It was also really amazing when Goku turned "Super Saiyan" (actually, he didn't, his pupils disappeared and his hair turned red) and he started kicking Slug's @$$. In conclusion, I definitely suggest you buy Lord Slug before it runs out. If you're wondering why I got it...because I love DBZ and this is a freakin' good movie!
Rating: Summary: Great than Miyazaki....awe who am I kidding!! Review: Now first off, I wanna commend the writers (or maybe just the crew at FUNimation) for outdoing "Heavy Metal 2000" for what I thought was the worst villain name ever. Lord Tyler has now been replaced by...Lord Slug! When I first saw the title come on my TV screen I had images of a little bug with a crown on his head moving about the sidewalk leaving a trail of ooze behind him. Well actually he's just a homicidal alien - then again, show me a DBZ that doesn't have a homicidal alien as a villain. The reviewer before put it accurately - this movie is VERY mediocre. It's your basic DBZ movie: alien comes to earth, kills a whole lot of people, goes after the dragonballs for eternal life, a lot of pointless and badly animated fighting break out, and after mass genocide our heroes crack a joke and walk off into the sunset laughing with glee. I really don't know which part of this movie makes me want to vomit more...the voice acting or the music. And by music I mean that really bad rock music they put in the background. Who at FUNimation decided to do that? Better yet...who CHOSE the music? It's bad enough it sounds like the same song with different lyrics, but playing a song ever ten minutes is just annoying. By the way, this movie has some of the worst lines ever. Lord Slug throws Goku into a store and says, "Nothing like a little window shopping!" BOO! HISS! However, nothing tops this line right here: "They're like children, give them a little air to breath and they're happy." I am still losing sleep over what the hell this means!!!
