Summary: Enjoyable series but too expensive
Review: Pokémon is the story about Ash Ketchum and his friends, Misty Williams and Brock Harrison. Ash's goal is to become a Pokémon Master. Misty's goal is to be "the best at everything" but, more specifically, a Water Pokémon Master. Brock's goal is to be the world's best Pokémon breeder. Pokémon are the animals that inhabit their world. They come in many different species (mouse, cat, dog, etc.) and types (electric, grass, water, fire, etc.). Each Pokémon trainer trains his or her Pokémon to battle other Pokémon and win badges to compete in Pokémon Leagues. Ash, Misty, and Brock must deal with Jessie, James, and Meowth of the evil Team Rocket, who want to steal Ash's first Pokémon, Pikachu, and usually other Pokémon as well. This Japanese animation series is an advertisement for the Pokémon video games, and the episodes' plots are usually simple, but this is actually an enjoyable series. Common themes are friendship, not giving up, parting ways with a dear friend, and other good morals. Parents and guardians that are concerned about the violence need not worry. Yes, the kids have their pets fight each other, but they also must learn to take care of and love their pets. Girls will find a strong female role model in Misty. Overall, this is a fun, simple, warm-hearted, rather repetitive series. However, despite how much I like the anime, the DVDs are not worth your money. Each episode is probably less than twenty minutes long, and there are only three episodes on each DVD. You would be paying the price of this DVD for around one hour of Pokémon. That's ridiculous. They don't even include the Japanese vocal tracks with English subtitles or the fun music videos from the TV airings. You can rent these same English-dubbed episodes on VHS. If you really want this series on DVD, my advice to you is to buy the movies and the special, "Mewtwo Returns", and wait for box sets of the series.

Summary: Good shows but not worth the cost
Review: Agreeing with other reviews I'd have to say that Pokemon is a good show but it seems that now even adults have noticed the topic has lost a lot of intrest. The first few two seasons are great! But just think about this. The 4Kids and the WB are going to try and release every episode on DVD, I am not sure but it seems like they would. Anyway you are going to have to pay $20 for each of these dvd's which ONLY contain 3 episodes each. Most anime DVD's start off with atleast 4 on each and then go down to 3 after getting so far into the series of the show. There are much more than 100 episodes of Pokemon. And I really don't think the show is going to be ending any time soon. There are 4 seasons so far: Indigo League, Orange League, Johto Journey, and Johto League Champion. But everyone knows that the first season could make up two seasons because of how long it was. I'm NOT putting down the show at all. I'm just saying that it would better if you have already seen the episodes to just wait for re runs because for right now the DVD's would be too expensive. If we are lucky MAYBE they'll one day make box sets. Of course there would have to be many of them but I'd wrather buy a box set for cheaper than have to buy one DVD at a time. So if you've got the money go ahead and buy them but otherwise wait until their prices lower. I guarantee you that Pokemon will be around for a long time so you don't have to buying the DVD's the day they come out.

Summary: Good,but not great
Review: It was good for the 1st episodes. There really wasn't enough action,though-just Ash catching pokemon. The later episodes are better,IMHO.

Summary: Its all down hill from here
Review: Yeah the first couple of episodes were pretty good but after that the plot is all the same. At the begining Ash and his companions are traveling and then they find a knew friend. Followed by Team Rocket's daily attack. After a battle Ash's team wins and thats about it. Every episode follows that story line. Yawn.

Summary: Great, but...
Review: I'm a huge Pokemon fan, even though normally I HATE anime. The voice-overs aren't great in the old episodes, which is practically the only reason this isn't 5 stars.

Summary: The First and the Best
Review: The first few episodes are very good ones, and Anime fans would likely interpret these first few as evidence of a good series. Unfortunately, this isn't the case...while young and old Anime/Pokemon fans will enjoy this DVD, the later eps are suited only for the latter...and the younger at that. Other than the episodes included here, there are a few more good ones, that may help people gain momentum with the series and get past the more kiddy parts of the later episodes. Don't let it fool you, though, this DVD is as good as Anime gets and is a good experience worth the money. And, even though though it doesn't employ as much action or drama as many other shows do, it mysteriously keeps you coming back to watch it all over again for a good while.

Summary: Superb
Review: I myself was a bit of an anime skeptic until I saw Pokemon; but after listening to the wonderfully arranged music and seeing the shift to pen-and-ink drawing in the first episode, I was hooked. I had to see more episodes. I'm not afraid to call the first episode a "tour de force" -- it was an emotionally wrenching twenty minutes. Would Ash and Pikachu make it? "I Choose You! Pikachu!" combines great drawing and music with just the right amount of quirky weirdness.

Besides, who can resist the lucky idiocy of Ash, the easygoing mysticism of Brock, the shrill impetuosity of Misty, the cuteness of Pikachu, and the gorgeousness of Team Rocket, especially James (Kojiro in the Japanese version) of the periwinkle hair?

Summary: POKEMON IS COOL!
Review: When I first started watching the TV series I thought that it was really uniqu. And I was right. Infact in the beginning it was a different kind of show. The thing that really get's me up is when it started in japan from a popular program called "Pocket Monsters". The series is awsome. It has nice characters, nice creatures, nice action, and more. Not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, but totally 5 stars for this cool action series!

Summary: THIS POKE-RULES!
Review: I love Pikachu! If he was real I would marry him! The only bad thing about this video is that it does not show the two best Pokemon of all time: Beatachu and Strokazar. I almost cried when Ash chose Pikachu because Pikachu works so hard. He deserves to be picked. When he shot his lightning bolts I laughed sooooo hard! I hope you have as much fun with this video as I did! I choose YOU!
